How to see life’s immense possibilities within the world and within ourselves.

Tony Robbins speaks about how so many of us live "box lives." We wake up in our box houses, eat our box breakfasts, get into our box cars to get to our box office to type on a box, talk on a box, go into a box room for meetings, have our box lunch, drive in our box cars back to our box houses and then turn on the box. Listen to a box, text on a box, speak into a box.

No wonder the world starts to look so small and limited when our everyday lives are compressed within the walls of a static mindset.

Here are some ideas to help us think and live out of the box so we can see the immense possibilities within the world and within ourselves.

1. Speak positively and focus on possibilities instead of constraints. The only thing complaining does is convince other people that we are not in control. Look for the good both in ourselves and in others. What can you do? What options do you have? What are you not seeing when you look at the picture just from this angle?

2. Recognize the power of the soul. We are so much more than the reflections that we see in the mirror. Don't confuse the physical limitations in our lives with spiritual ones. As the record breaking swimmer Diane Nyad said after she swam from Cuba to Florida: "The spirit is larger than the body. The body is pathetic compared to what we have inside of us."

3. Don't be afraid of being different; be afraid of being the same as everyone else. We are each unique beings with incredible potentials. As Benjamin Franklin once remarked: "If everyone is thinking the same thing then no one is thinking."

4. Sometimes we need to go against the current to find a way. Only dead fish always go with the flow. It's easy to join the crowd, but it takes courage to stand alone. It takes strength to move towards your values and beliefs when everyone else is walking the other way.

5. Don't carry around what you don't need. The first step to getting what you want is having the courage to get rid of what you don't. One of the biggest obstacles to our success is holding onto beliefs, ideas and routines that are no longer working for us. Have the courage to let them go.

6. If it matters to you, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Create your own plans. Live out your own dreams. As Harley Davidson said: "When you write the story of your life, don't let anyone else hold the pen."

7. Discover your uniqueness. What tools, ideas and experiences did God give to you that no one else has? As author John Mason wrote: "You were born an original, don't die a copy."

When we step outside of our box thinking, we can look around us and see how beautiful and wondrous this world really is. This world, with all its brilliant stars and flowering trees and towering mountains and deep oceans and infinite ideas, is created just for me. And just for you. So that each of us can create a life, a song, a shape that no one before us and no one after of us can begin to fathom. A life that you shaped out of the box, full of new possibilities, limited only by the contours of our imaginations.
