Thank you so much for this . . . It's always a humbling and sobering thing to hear that the Creator of the universe believes in me. I really need to get that into my spirit, not just my head. This video has helped me see just a little more that He loves me and is waiting for me to realize that I am His creation not my own. Your advice is inspirational to a degree but knowing when to quit and to find satifaction with what you have must eventually be a consideration. Eventually one has to grows up, and act responsibly. This means knowiing when to take a back seat. Specifically my 61 year old sister is always inspired by some new idea because she thinks she was born fo greatness. She has been through three marriages and has three children. . She gave birth to the twins at the age of 52 because she wanted to get a second chance since she screwed up the first child's life by being too busy for him. . She has always pursued her dreams and our entire family has been through the grist mill supporting her every whim only to have her come back repeatedly for both financial and moral support. Finally we decided to say that enough was enough. She vis obdurate and obsessed with her project to the point where she neglecting her 9 year old twins. This is not fair to them or us. It takes courage to call it quits, to tell yourself to stop looking for that pot of gold under the rainbow. This is why it would be nice if you put your insirational speeches in the context of behaving responsibly because the flip side of this doscussion also matters,

I am referred to as a FFB -- frum from birth . I had a wonderful Jewish Orthodox Education and was raised in an Orthodox home. However, I NEVER, EVER connected w/Modeh Ani in the way that you just showed me to. I vaccillate between being totally confident and totally insecure and sometimes, i dont even understand why i feel the different emotions at differents moments. However, after watching your video, I know that iyh, I will NEVER say Modeh Ani as a rote tefilah anymore. I will fight the yetzer hora that tells me that i cannot accomplish the things that i want to do,, or pass the tests/nisayons that Hashem continuously sends to me. I, bli neder< will remember your video and will wake up tomorrow morning knowing that although my father zl' and mother a'h are not here anymore to "believe in me", I have a much greater "COACH" , who indeed does love and believe in me and I know that my day will start in a very new and different way! thank you!!

I've heard this concept previously, in the form of a quote from Wayne Gretzky, who said "you miss every shot you don't take". But I've never considered it in this way - that God is my coach and God has put me in this position or situation, and God has faith in me that I can make the shot. And who knows - what if it's not Gods will for me to make the shot. Doesn't matter - if I don't even try, then I'm letting God down, or I'm not living up to Gods will for me. Beautiful!

I have twin grandsons who I will show this video too. One especially is just as depicted and won't take the open shot when he can but will pass it off. This person wonders why after "being forced" to memorize this awakening prayer back in "Aleph class" about 50 yrs ago, I had never heard any rabbi or teacher or "Jewish educator" give an explanation of this short easy to remember daily prayer since then. There is really no such thing as "all or nothing" when it comes to trying. I know there was an earlier video from Aish.com that had the late Rav. Noah Weinberg's words of wisdom, and one poignant thing in that video was that saying one can't is idolatry. So, for sure, it's a mitzvah to try and make an effort (even if it means forcing one's self out of reluctance or hesitence), which I learned is mentioned in Ethics of the Fathers.

I have tears in my eyes watching this video. Charlie is amazing. He gives it over so powerfully. Thank you for the best video I've ever seen.

when i was younger many times i felt and acted the way charlie did at the basketball game. the pressure of shooting the ball, my belief that i couldn't score and the fear of setting myself up for failure made me pass the ball whenever the game was close. it was easier not to shoot than miss-that's the point! thankfully, my dad encouraged me to practice, gain the confidence to take the shot and not second guess myself once the ball was in the air. as a kid i thought it was only a basketball lesson. i wasn't as smart as i thought! thanks dad

I once knew how to do it, but nowadays the thought kreeps into my mind: "I can't do that anymore, because I am too old, not healthy as I once was. And dont't remember: "When Hashem thinks, I can do it, I should forget those excuses and do what I can. I am grateful for that little film!!!

My kids are in sports....championship games are coming up......so not only was this film packed with confidence and excitement , it was also timely...as if you knew!!
