Great Video! I saw it as part of "Day to Disconnect" - Oct. 2nd. I registered for it at unplugreconnect.com It's really such a timely idea.

Really important comment on social interaction today. People should be talking more, making eye contact, and texting less. It makes a difference in world views.

There is a time for everything under the sun......
Time to plug and time to unplug..............

Imagine if I had more than 25 hours ( minus 2 hours of shul friday night, 9 hours sleep, 4 hours at shul in the morning, 1 1/2 hour nap, 1 hour learning with chavrusa, 2 hours at shul for mincha maariv = ONLY 5 1/2 hours) with my husband what an amazing marriage we could have... :)

what a pity that the phone has become more important than the people around us

Great idea- but- I was able to spend the last few minutes of my mother-in-law's life, with her, due to the call I received at work that she'd had a massive stroke. She was able to understand and daven with me for just a few minutes before she lost consciousness. Sure hope nothing like this happens while everyone disconnects. Why can"t we learn to use these wonderful tools responsibly and reasonably.

Ah...that's the point... you DID disconnect
therefore you were able to enjoy those moments!
all you did is use the phone for it's intended purpose and moved on.
May your good choices also serve for an aliyah for your MIL's soul.

During the week, we need to remember to take time to put down the gadget for awhile and pay attention to others
September 11, 2011 4:53 PM
Wow this video is very powerful, especially when they have everythiing moving without the person seeing the people its kind of freaky! thanks!

My students saw it
I teach a double lever classroom (4-5) in a French elementary school in CANADA and I wanted the kids to see that advertisement. It really had an positive impact on them and many wanted to discuss about it. That's great !

Certainly for Religious Jews
Lisa, my understanding of the campaign is to create a full-time awareness plan. It isn't about SHUTTING down for 25 hours - it is about the remaining 6 days - to exercise control over our use of the gadgets so that sacrifice relationships and opportunities.

It is a gr8 idea..just not for me!!! Enjoy!!
Thats called discipline....which we should have in ALL areas of our daily lives.......speech, food, how we spend our money.......and not just for one hour!! Our discipline of these areas should be a constant in our lives. But for those who want to turn off their phones & spend the time with family & friends.....WOW..then it is a great idea!!!!!
September 11, 2011 10:38 AM
Dont call me....I'll call you!!
Somehow I dont think "religious" Jews need this hour...we shut our phones off every week for at least 25 hours...and thats non negotiable!! We spend time with family & friends. But for those who think it's a worthwhile idea....yasher koach!!
