Evoking emotions is another thing, besides ornamental & functional

There's more to our stuff, I think, besides being either ornamental or functional. Suppose the Grandfather clock stopped working, and it's not a nice-looking piece of furniture, in my eyes. But, it was given to me by my Grandmother, who thought it was beautiful and who brought it with her from Europe and gave it to me because she liked it so much. I have a lot of useless ugly stuff that I keep because of the emotions they evoke in me. Representations of ties to others is also a reason to keep stuff.

Combine Two or More Purposes, Rabbi Dr. Twerski

I am beginning to think that we need two or more purposes, not just one. Rabbi Dr.Twerski has Torah and Medicine.

With two, or more purposes, we can seesaw back and forth between them and try to combine them, as Rabbi Twerski does.
