The Ten Commandments & God

God’s ten basic, yet profound instructions for how to lead a moral life.

The Ten Commandments are ten basic, yet profound instructions for how to lead a moral life. If everyone followed them we wouldn’t need armies or police; marriages and families would be stronger; truth would be a paramount value. The Ten Commandments led to the creation of Western Civilization and remain relevant to your life today.

Moral values

You don't need God to learn moral values. They can be found hiding within the fabric nature, just as God can found.

Circular Argument

If G-d can be found within the fabric of nature and the moral laws are there also, then one can still argue that the moral laws are there because G-d is there, and only because G-d is there. Conclusion: G-d is still necessary for the moral laws to exist.

Thank you Dennis Prager

For two things. First, I LOVED this video. I have never heard The Ten Commandments explained in such an eloquent manner. Yasher Koach! Second, I greatly appreciated the close captioning. B"H I do not have a hearing loss, but so many other people do. Once upon a time they would not have been able to benefit from this great video, and now they can. Isn't that wonderful?! Yay for technology!

Ten commandments is just a part of the torah

The Ten commandments must not be isolated from the entirety of the Torah. Certain people only believe in the ten commandments and not the 613 mitzvos. This is heresy.

This is goodness, woe when it is called evil

Oy vavoy lekha, Dave! There is moral idiocy in the lack of context awareness written above.

Maybe you should tell us what part of some Jewish diktatura has given you a license to declare heresy. We don't even have a consensus as a people as to exactly what the other 603 mitsvot are, there are competing traditions. This vid is by definition not about that.

First of all, the 10 commandments are special, and were presented in a way for all but the dimmest to perceive that they were.

Secondly, Mr. Prager's video is intended for a universal audience, not an exclusively Jewish one. Morality is a universal problem, and the more people who follow these commandments the better off we are. No Jew going about his own business was ever harmed by anyone following these commandments, neither was anyone else.

By declaring this goodness heresy, it is you you are violating the spirit of "לֹא תִשָּׂא אֶת-שֵׁם-יְ''ה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, לַשָּׁוְא"

Think on the penalty for that!
