Did they have chairs and Synagogues already?
At the time Yoshua lived, they did not have synagogues nor chairs. I think in the Mishkan they stood or sat on the floor. But even without that, Yoshua really stood on Moses side. He was no zealot like Pinchas. I do not like his deed, murdering a Jew just like that.
He was no judge. Every year, Pinchas comes up again, I have not nice feelings at him whatsoever. I feel rachmanut with Zimri.
Good, that Yoshua was Moses follower.
He really was quiet, stood on his leaders side without making a big rush about it. He then had real God-given authority while leading the people into the land of Israel. His virtues were more hidden, but they existed and Hashem knew it.
Why am I so strongly against Pinchas?
Because there was a time I was more the Pinchas-type, and now I try to be more like Yoshua.
Thank you for making me think so much with just a comment that lasts a few minutes! Michal
