Inspiring, but include all ages

Awesome, inspirational message, and well done! But there is a constant theme with millennials who create productions -- to leave out people older than they are. Life struggles effect all ages and everyone needs to be included in presentations -- from the youngest to the oldest, everyone has struggles.

(118) CHAIM ISRAIL NACHAM KLEIN, May 21, 2015 4:37 PM

wHY IS THE MESSAGE THAT HASHEM COMMANDED THE ISRAELITES WHO WERE RESCUED FROM EGYPT TO GO TO THE LAND WHICH HE DESIGNATED FOR THEM, NEVER APPEARS TO BE MENTIONED.
THE JEWISH NATION DID NOT CHOOSE TO GO AND SETTLE IN THE LANS OF ISRAEL. THEY WERE COMMANDED TO GO THERE, NOT ONLY TO MOSES, BUT ALSO TO ABRAHAM, WHY ARE THE ISRAELITES CONSTANTLY BEING ACCUSED OF OCCUPYING ARAB PALESTINE,
SURELY THE ISLAMIC NATION WHO FOLLOW THE KORAN WHICH IS BASED ON THE JEWISH TORAH ARE AWARE OF HASHEM,S COMMANDMENTS, AND THEIR ACCUSATION IS A BREACH OF THE COMMANDMENTS. THIS MESSAGE OUGHT TO BE EMPHASIZED TIME AND TIME AGAIN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, AND PARTICULARLY THE ISLAMIC COUNTRIES.. ISRAEL NACHAM KLEIN

(113) Kathy, May 14, 2013 8:49 PM

Interesting thoughts

Interesting... but what about the golden calf? That came after the Israelites expressed their determination to do whatever God asked - if only they could hear it from Moses, and not the voice of God. And the golden calf was certainly not the end of idolatry and rebellion. I don't think it was about Israel becoming great, but a Great and loving Lord who was and is willing to forgive those who will repent, realizing their need for salvation that comes from outside themselves.

Mati, May 29, 2014 7:33 PM

It was about both

People think that all of Israel failed at Sinai with the golden calf. However, almost all the people DIDN'T sin at the golden calf. The idolatry both at Sinai and after were the darkness in R. Harary's example, and the re-alignments with HaShem and His Torah (learning) are the lightnings of light ... moments to achieve and grow in spirituality. We are going fall because we are human. But we must brush the dirt off our clothes and continue on the Path of Torah. It is then, that we cause our "sins to become as gold" to HaShem. When we say, "I fell and I give up because the Path is too hard for me to continue," this is when our sins are not made into gold and we fail G-d, and more importantly ourself.

(112) Galina, May 14, 2013 3:23 PM

Beautifull

You tell the truth in a few minutes. I think: "He is totally right." And again and again and again. And then comes the moment - we- face to face with Hashem. "And He is smiling at you!" Why do I have tears in my eyes? -

Shavuot--Inspiration

Excellent clip combines inspiration and the holiday of Shavuot. One remark: Yam Suf is literally the "Sea of Reeds," not the Red Sea, makes sense in terms of geography, particularly where the Jews lived in Egypt. Nonetheless, Red Sea is NOT correct, we can not be certain where it is.

Aviva - Jerusalem, June 1, 2014 3:43 PM

Yam Suf

In Hebrew, the word "suf" means "reeds" It was mistranslated and misspelled and they wrote "red" instead of "reed.". Has nothing to do with location.

(93) Anonymous, June 7, 2011 3:27 PM

Amazing!

Amazing Video! Truly inspiring! Mr. Harary is awesome. His words are always so real and applicable! keep em coming!

(92) Anonymous, June 6, 2011 11:40 PM

This is great!

Thank you! I love how you bring the theme of the holiday into our everyday lives. It makes the experience so real, and gives us the ability to connect to our forefathers; I feel that everything you said in this video sums up life in its entirety. we're always either in a state of clarity or struggle to achieve that vision. When I think about how we all go through periods of light and darkness, I feel such a strong connection to the rest of the Jewish nation. We're all in this together! Thank you for awakening that sense of unity within me (as I'm sure anyone else who watched this feels).

(91) David K PIERCE, June 6, 2011 7:35 PM

to Mr. Modern American Jew

You doweled it.* Y'shar Koakh! * since we can not use metal, nails, rebuilding the Temple, I offer a different expression .

(89) mordi, June 6, 2011 5:52 AM

Amazing

Charlie - You are amazing. Keep up the dynamic dynamite lessons. Suddenly Shavuos is my most important holiday. That may change when the next important one comes along, especially if you are selling/commenting on it. But no need to for me to look ahead. I think that i will go to a shul round midnight to experience and soak up the great vibe you describe. Thanks for the inspiration.

(88) Leah, June 5, 2011 9:37 PM

Bravo

that was great we need some more of these videos.

(74) Kathi Wilson, June 9, 2010 8:43 AM

simply profound

Gotta tell you...you've taken this vehicle of video and used it SO wisely. You hold your audience's attention, you give simply profound input and with great enthusiasm you invite us into the joy of suffering. Amazing... Yup, until we comprehend the gift of waiting (which is a thankful heart) we take everything in life for granted. Unless we discover the darkness of "the valley of the shadow of death", we have no plumb line for divine delight. I commend you for offering your insight, your gifts and your inspiration to a very disillusioned world! : )

(73) Miriam Plotkin, June 9, 2010 8:43 AM

amaazing!

wow, Charlie those were definetely the best words of wisdom I have ever heard! By the way I saw pics of you guys and Moshe and Jenny and fam and the kids are adoorable! hope to see you guys in the near future -Miriam (moshes little sis)

(72) Diane, June 9, 2010 8:43 AM

It's the inspiration I needed to help me continue through the dark at the moment, waiting for more light. thank you

(71) Pleasant, June 9, 2010 8:42 AM

Yes! Yes! Yes!

This is the kind of stuff I like! This is the stuff that keeps me going! This is what we need right now! Maybe the older people don't need it cuz they're nearing the finish line, but we young people are just getting some momentum. Thank you charles and Eliyahu! You two are the best!

(70) Yisroel Tepper, June 9, 2010 8:42 AM

Finally

I've been anticipating your class! Finally, now I can send it out to my people who love your stuff.Keep the flame alive.

(69) Yocheved, June 9, 2010 8:42 AM

Thanks so much for this video

Thanks seems like an understatement. I have been so sad, because I am scheduled to have major surgery on erev Shavuot, and will be out of commission for about 6 weeks. Now I feel like I can face this, for I trully know of this Light, and I am going to take it into this dark moment of my life.. So thankful I do understand what you are saying. Blessings to you dear young man for taking the time to make this video !!!!

(68) Lloyd Oestreicher, June 9, 2010 8:41 AM

He is so exciting that I am gouing out and eat a hamhock or work on a golden calf. The whole lesson is lost in his rapturous presentation. The lesson of the Ten Commandments is "free-will" which is the magic of Judaism

(67) Anonymous, June 9, 2010 8:41 AM

I really enjoyed the Shavuot video

Very inspirational video!

(66) nechami, June 9, 2010 8:41 AM

(60) Joey, June 9, 2010 8:39 AM

Thank you

This was definitely an inspiring video by itself! I love the metaphor...not to just figure out how to use it until I find something else to inspire me. :-) God bless!

(59) Doris, June 9, 2010 8:38 AM

Really inspired me!

Thank you so much! I've never seen things like that and now I can push happier through darkness, as I know there's gonna be light again that will show me the way. I understand better what real inspiration is, the one that takes to achivements!

(58) Kathleen Gathings, June 9, 2010 8:38 AM

Shavuot

The video was fantastic. Unbelievible !! Giving so much knowledge in a short amount of time. May Hashem bless all the world. The coming days are going to be trying. Are all of you up for it?

(57) Bassy, June 9, 2010 8:38 AM

really helped me

Thanks. That was a great speech. i really gained a lot and felt like it applies to my life - of how to utilize shavuot and how to take advantage of all those times when things are easy. Great job. Thanks again.

(56) Debbie Litwack, June 9, 2010 8:38 AM

Great job Charlie!

Really enjoyed seeing you in your other element!

(55) Margot Heckman, June 9, 2010 8:37 AM

Awesome!!!

I played it over and over and then wrote most of it down to remember and refer to. Aish has made a consistent difference in my life--classes with the Palatniks each week--internet messages like this--Rabbi Weinberg's book--all joyous and inspirational. Thank you is not enough to express my appreciation for these gifts that make a better path of life.

(54) michelle, June 9, 2010 8:37 AM

wow!

wonderful and inspiring thankyou!

(53) Anonymous, June 9, 2010 8:37 AM

This was great

This was really great, but I think it should have been done for the Counting of the Omer, instead of being for Shavuot.

(52) Neil Leibowitz, June 9, 2010 8:36 AM

Enjoyable and TO THE POINT!

I watched it again and again.

(51) Meira, June 9, 2010 8:36 AM

(47) S.R. LeCroy, February 17, 2010 4:48 PM

much needed concept

Thank you for this video! This concept needs to be taught in schools (including public schools) so that the young people will know it is normal and healthy to encounter challenging times.Children need reassurance that when they encounter dark, difficult periods that there is a reason and they will be stronger and more mature afterward. Good job!

(46) Eileen, June 9, 2009 6:20 PM

That was VERY well said! very motivating and done with such humor! loved it

(45) Berry, May 31, 2009 8:24 AM

(44) Anodymice, May 28, 2009 2:46 PM

Really knows how its done...

This guys great, whether you've experienced what he's talking about or not, you know that him and the people that took part in the making of this video get the gig to achieve greatness. How can you assume that? Because they helped make a video for others to achieve greatness...

(43) Sandy, May 28, 2009 8:00 AM

Brilliant

This is extraordinarily inspirational- beyond profound packaged in a light format. A guide for life. To Ruth, I too am a woman, and I can't see where you think women are not represented? This isn't about "men"? This is about life for all of us, and what darkness and light represent in the perspective of working through challenges. Thanks!

(42) Ruth, May 28, 2009 1:16 AM

Inspirational however, what happen to the women?

So what happen to the women dancing after we cross the Reed sea? We all need inspiration and acknowledgment to the whole of our tribe. Otherwise nice job.

(41) chaya sara, May 27, 2009 11:14 PM

(38) Michelle Kanter, May 27, 2009 8:24 AM

GREAT CHOICE OF MUSIC!!!!!!!

Very inspiring and uplifting message. The music picked exactly matches the message. The band is Even Sh'Siyah from Chicago! THE BEST JEWISH ROCK BAND IN THE COUNTRY! The song "THE WAY BACK HOME" from the CD "WAKE UP". "Wake up, wake up! A brand new day is calling. The world's created just for you." Thank you AISH.

(37) Donna Perel, May 27, 2009 7:26 AM

(30) Anonymous, May 26, 2009 7:28 AM

wow!

thank you SO much! this is exactly what i needed!

(29) Ashley Bell, May 26, 2009 4:11 AM

Preparing for inspiration is inspiring of itself

Is inspiration is the realization of faith or the enactment of faith? Is it believing or behaving? Both? Believing that inspiration is light, you must also hold that light purges darkness. So what is darkness in relation to Shavuot? Counting of the Omer? Darkness has a settling purpose, the darkness in between the flashes of light serve to prepare us to reflect & be still upon recognising the light? (I'm using your analogy here) If we had to walk in the dark to appreciate the light of Torah at Sinai, did the experience of that lead us to be bound by Torah or merely be awe-struck by the gravity/gesture of being given Torah? Both? See how many questions this video has sparked for me? Great stuff, Charles.

(28) dave tepper, May 25, 2009 9:26 PM

that was awsome and inspiring i only wished you could have shown the chasidim break dancing more

(27) yaakov, May 25, 2009 5:52 PM

we didn't do 'nothing' for 49 days

it's great to inspire people and to give perspective that light follows the dark. respectfully: the 49 days we weren't doing 'nothing' we were learning certain parts of torah, keeping certain mitzvot and preparing to receive the torah. it was mainly a preparation time, a time of growth.

Anonymous, June 6, 2011 11:48 PM

This is true, and I think that it fits in perfectly with what Charlie is saying- the 49 days were a time of (I guess you could say) struggle... up to the point of receiving the Torah, which was complete light and revelation.

(26) Rachel, May 25, 2009 5:44 PM

Loved it!

Thank you for the inspiration!

(25) Yosef Juarez, May 25, 2009 5:16 PM
