What a great message. So much of our time we hear a different message, one that calls us to succeed in ways that are measured by the size of our bank account or the power and prestige we manage to accumulate. Even if we already know what's really important, its so important to be reminded.

the import of beauty
These words are beautiful, and there's a profound conundrum here and I will keep beating that drum, though on line, here, on Aish, I have no real idea if anyone ever read anything I wrote.
The question is: God doesn't need to ask these questions because God already knows and the curve ball in this, is that God wrote not parts of the entire story. That's what we mean by Divine Providence. That is how and why, what is emergent from the soup mix, this chicken soup for the soul, is paradox. I know, there has to be a learning curve built into a determinism, because I do know, the coincidences that do ring this small life, are off the charts, and truly the off Broadway, Hit Parade. I took a road and it took me to this place at this time, and there was no knowledge, really, except for these glowing "intimations" that the path was mine to follow as I did follow, the path. The path in empathy itself, and I have no doubt many others are on the same path, the road to compassion, the compass within the very word, our True North.

Just One Question From Me
How do you know?
October 24, 2012 6:12 PM
We all have a God-given intuition that tells us what things are important in life. This is why no one talks about the physical, monetary achievements at a funeral. (besides the fact that we have a document that was shared with millions of people who saw G-d reveal himself to them- a feat that no one else even attempts to claim. This is the Torah)

You ask a good question, Anonymous. As the film tells us - go ask more good questions to find the answers from good people. The more you ask the more YOU will know. Best wishes.

I also have a question
What are you here - watching this video, exploring this site, asking questions about god? Why do you that? When you'll answer that question, you would also nswer your own.

YES, WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT IN THIS LIFE AND AFTER
Thanks for this very beautiful and inspiring video - How foolish we are at times, well I'll speak for myself, I get caught up in making it out there in the big bad world, plus as a women in this crazy society I tend to worry to much about the superficial things, yes, like beauty when our Loving God wants us to care much much more about our inner beauty. I do try hard to keep things in perspective, kindness, respect and love towards all of our Creator's creation is what is truly most important. When we stand before our Creator one day for a review of our life and what we did with it....hopefully we will be satisfied that we did our best with what we could. I think about this more now that I am getting older.
Blessings and Shalom to you
Thanks again for making us think!

What is? Important in life? I agree
April 2, 2011 6:30 PM
one's health is the most important aspect of one'e life. one's health can interfere with everything they want to accomplish. Money won't buy health. Health is a gift from Hashem. If you are healthy, every day you should thank Hashem....

Health Is Not the Most Important
Health is not the most important thing is someone's life. Yes, it is terribly important, but health is not the be-all-and-end-all. A person with poor health can still do great things and make his life meaningful. In fact, some people in poor health do this better than people in great health! While we would all like good health, happiness, prosperity, and everything else good, we should remember that becoming close to G-d is the most important aspect in one's life. G-d won't ask why you weren't healthy; He'll ask why you didn't make your life meaningful whether or not you had good health.

Personally, I don't see baseball and spiritual growth as mutually exclusive.
November 8, 2012 3:52 PM
I don't think the video was suggesting they are (I don't think anything in the video is) all it is saying is they have nothing to do with what G-d is asking from you (mutually exclusive means the two things cannot happen at the same time) You could most defiantly care about the person you sitting next to at the baseball game.
