Our local synagogue is closed because of the coronavirus. How can I say yizkor this year in memory of my father?
The Aish Rabbi Replies:
I’m sorry for the upsetting situation. But in truth, technically Yizkor can be said privately. Whenever it is difficult to attend a synagogue, it is fine to say it at home. In a year like this, when we pray with proper concentration at home, it is considered as if we have prayed with a congregation.
May your father’s soul have an elevation and may this entire situation pass quickly.
Due to limited resources, the Ask the Rabbi service is intended for Jews of little background with
nowhere else to turn. People with questions in Jewish law should consult their local rabbi.
