Love vs. Anger/hate

Thank you for the presentation. My main "take-away" was the Rabbi's final and yet most profound comment--- to paraphrase: ' anger is destructive'. When we see injustice, violence etc. there is a temptation to react with anger and hate. I believe this is a trick of the "sitra achra" --the other side / yetzer hara (evil-inclination). When we succumb to anger/ hate it grows inside us ---we become that which we hate. For example, an anti-nazi can begin to use nazi-like tactics and have nazi-like feelings etc. Through prayer and kosher meditation I believe we can remain objective to evil and thus overcome evil with good---just as MLK Jr and other righteous ones have taught us. Beware of hating/ becoming angry with evil!! Yes---we CAN control our emotions to the service of GOOD! Thanks again for all you do at AISH!

Jewish Orthodox Woman LAPD officer

you should contact Lisa Herman Tofler, an officer with the LAPD for several years. She is also orthodox and goes to the Happy Minyan in Pico / Robertson. She could add some interesting insights as a woman.
