Hard to focus on virtues if person has hurt you personally!

Sharona, July 8, 2014 8:49 AM

I also had someone hurt me a few years ago. It was a friend. They stole and took advantage of favors like errands and mending a friendship with someone. It's hurts, but I try not to hold a grudge.

With fellow Jews in general, it's important to look at their good points. We sometimes hear about a certain group or individual and their negative but not their positive. But we each have some positive and should focus on that

Loving others

lMight we also love the Palestinians and not give in to labeling them as "the enemy?" Might we identify with the wish of all mothers that their children be safe, that they have clean drinking water, access to education and medical care. "Do not unto others that which is hateful to you." May we all work for peace and understanding

Of course, not all Palestinians are bad. when we mention the enemy, we're talking about Hamas and terrorists that want to destroy us.

David, July 8, 2014 6:25 PM

...except those who irrationally pursue our unconditional, violent destruction

Not all Arabs are bad, but those who embrace a made-up nationality invented solely to undermine Israel are. "Palestinian" Arabs voted overwhelmingly first for a Holocaust denying terrorist and then for Hamas to lead them. They celebrate every act of random violence against innocent Israeli civilians, and, as a community, have chosen to be evil.

Sarah, if they were trying to kill you, I don't think you'd love them so much.

beautiful - It's sometimes hard to focus on the good when we notice the negative and our yetzer hara is telling us to criticize. But it's something we all need to work on. We all have positive and negative traits, and should judge others favorably. May we continue our unity
