Choose a Book?

Spitzer is the kind of man we warned our children not to talk to. Why would I talk to him if I wouldn't want my children around him.?

Ditto to Messilas Yesharim. It was my first reaction even before seeing the other comments.

Send one on what Hashem says to men about sexual morality!

Also send one to Anthony Weiner. And ex-Mayor Filner in San Diego!

Jewish Ethics

A Code of Jewish Ethics: Volume 1: You Shall Be Holy by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin

Dorothy Frances Goldstein, September 1, 2013 3:56 AM

also The Book of Jewish Values by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin

So happy to see your suggestion. Rabbi Telushin's books bring the joys of Judiasm to everyone.

I would ask him what Jewish Themes he favours

Shimon Appisdorf wrote a fabulous book about Hanukah. Hanukah is a pretty universal Jewish Holiday no matter what stream of Judaism you come from

A great book for everyone...

"On Repentance: The Thought and Oral Discourses of Rabbi Joseph Dov Soloveitchik." Great book. Appropriate for the time of year.

Just one book??

I'm with Ari on this one, Committed Life is a good choice, but i would add Reb Esther Jungreis' book....Life is a Test. Deals with all of life's situations! ( well maybe not all of Mr Spitzer's situations!)
I also agree with you Rabbi , as I hail from the South & all of Rabbi Emanuel Feldman's books are very informative & engaging!

I would recommend the same thing I have been recommending to others of late The trilogy by Primo Levy on the Holocaust. just as Night by Elie Wiesel and the Diary of Ann Frank and Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning are indispensable that anyone Jewish read, so is Primo Levy. The trilogy is made up of Survival in Auschwitz, The Reawakening, and Moments of Reprieve.

Book reccommendation

I am currently reading 'The Committed Life' by Rebbetzin Esther Jungries. It's written for anybody seeking to grow, no matter what level you're on. The rebbetzin has a way of connecting with people from all backgrounds. A wonderful read!
