Rabbi Salomon, can you suggest some good books to read to our kids?

Adults First

Many adults I know are all about me me me They think they are being generous and giving but the things that they do are for their own gratification. Even the things they do for their children. And the kids know it. I see it in sports parents, parents who push for ultimate grades, parents who give their kids the best cars, phones, best clothes, best universities without the children working for these things. It's not about look what my beautiful child has accomplished, it's about "look what I, I, I, am able to give my child". It's the adult narcissist who teaches the child. Very often the Grandparent was the first Narcissist.

I agree with most of what you said, however.......

Hello Rabbi--
I agree that we need to be other centered as opposed to being self centered. Unfortunately there is documentation which states that 4% of the general population is without empathy. Does that mean we should do nothing? Of course not! In fact, your words are relevant for "children of all ages" if you know what I mean. Kol Tuv.
