How do you specifically work on your speech?
Shalom Rabbi Salomon ,
I agree that speech is super important. I live in Nelson, interior B.C. of Canada. We have no Rabbi - we do have Torah scoll and kosher Megilat Esther!!! - so I undertook to do as much as possible to keep Jewish spirit and tradition alive here, teaching on line, initiating, organizing, hosting and leading events, etc.
I constantly struggle with what to say to reluctant/ mostly secular/ mostly ignorant about Judaism, Jews; how to instill more understand, care and respect for our legacy. I struggle with how to explain Judaism to non Jews when I am invited to be on an interfaith panel or speak to any spiritual group of other denominations or a mixed group.
I am familiar with Jewish principles of avoiding Lashon Hara. I am reading/ "consuming" many articles and talks of Aish Hatorah, Chabbad and other sources.
Would you have a reference for a guide to specific daily practices that can help with both discernment of what to say and what not to say, as well as how to say!
On another topic: Professional, trained Jewish leadership would be so beneficial here, to Jews in in the wilderness of B.C....
Do you know any idealistic and courageous Rabbi who would be willing to undertake this pioneering task and come to officiate here for Holidays or permanently. Yes, I am in search for "Kol Koreh B'Midbar" who will have more weight.... After six years of full time volunteering to fill the void, it's time for someone new to step in.
V'ani tefilati lecha Hashem, Eit ratzon'...If you can't help me otherwise, please pray for our community that it finds a good leader.
Shanah Tova U'metukah.
Anat

It was wonderful to hear from you again.
Hello Rabbi--
I hope you will come back to aish and "visit" from time to time. Awhile back I started working on my speech in the manner you described in your video. There is a time to speak out and a time to keep quiet, and every day I work hard to do and say the right thing. Shana Tova.
