(18) Reuven Frank, December 5, 2018 1:04 PM

Well, I got one already.

I was going to ask for two things and
then I saw the answers and comments.

I got one of my best presents when I saw everyone helping each other out.

MY Two wishes were:
-$200,000. I figure that's all I need to cover past debts and
to live comfortably without risking my kids being kidnapped for ransom.
-Moshiach. I figure that'll cover all my spiritual needs,
including world peace.
I'm just not sure he'll come up with the 200 grand.

For my children and grandson to return to Judaism

My 46-year-old son walked away a year after his bar mritzvah. My 38-year-old daughter attended religious school and services till she was 17, then lost interest. She married out, and her 14-year-old son, my dear and only grandchild, was raised without religion. My husband prefers to watch sports and won't attend services. I always felt like I was fighting a losing battle.

I hope and pray that your grandson and all the lost souls will find their way back to Judaism.

Several Things

Basically what this question is really asking is, if I could wave a magic wand, what would I want to be the result? Well, several things come immediately to my mind, none of which, I admit, are realistic:
1) I would want to be young and healthy again, say around 20 years old, only this time, armed with whatever wisdom I have gathered to myself since being that young
2) I would want to bring back to life certain select people, first and foremost my parents, but also a favorite uncle of mine, all of my classmates who have died, several famous historical figures too numerous to name here, and all of my pet dogs, cats, and rabbits.
3) Winning lottery ticket for sure, such that I have so much money, that i would never have to work another day in my life
4) If I could go international on this question, i would want all antisemitism as well as hatred of Israel and America to stop.

(11) Anonymous, December 4, 2018 4:33 PM

you should cater to your own people

it's a waste of time to try to reach you!

(10) Gershom, December 4, 2018 3:58 PM

That we all pray ....

My Dream Hanukkah present would be that: - as ALL mankind - are the descendants of Adam and Eve - that G-D - made in HIS IMAGE AND LIKENESS.
That WE ALL PRAY - that G-D - will open the souls - hearts and minds - of all mankind - to recognize that - HE - ALONE - is the only G-D. As HE stated - many times in the Torah.
That He - will also give us the desire - and lead us all - in doing teshuvah/repentance.

So then - He will fulfill His promise that - IF - we do teshuvah/repentance. *** HE - will bring us back from - the lands of our EXILE - *** even from the ends of the HEAVENS. And - *** return us - to the lands He gave - to our forefathers to inherit.
So that - *** we can inherit it. *** He - will do goodness to us - even more than - He did for our forefathers.

Then - as He said: - *** He - will walk among us. *** He - will provide us - good health. *** He - will remove from us - the problem health issues - that He gave to the Egyptians.

And - *** five of us - will pursue - a hundred of our enemies. *** A hundred of us - will pursue - ten thousand of our enemies.
*** There will not be war - in the whole of the land - He gave our forefathers - Abraham - Issac - and Jacob - to inherit - FOREVER.

Then - there will be peace among all mankind - in all the lands.
There will be billions more people - who will know that He ALONE is G-D. And will Joyfully - be worshiping Him.

I have several dream Chanukah presents...
13 years ago, I got my best Chanukah present- my son. B"H, he and his older sister and younger brother are all healthy.
Now, my dream Chanukah presents would be the parnassah we need, being able to make Aliyah, and for our children to be Torah Jews and marry Torah Jews and give us grandchildren who will be Torah Jews.

Our only obstacle is that we don't have a lot of money saved and we have a lot of debts. If any of these groups can help us get past that obstacle, we're on our way.

Gershom, December 7, 2018 12:51 PM

Another - Aliyah forum

Sister Abigail - a second try - there is one forum resource - on Aliyah to Israel - that has been going for decades - that was not mentioned. People - all over the world subscribe to it.

It's helped - a myriad of people - in understanding the choices - the blessings - and some problems - that can occur - spiritually - mentally - emotionally - and financially - when making Aliyah to Israel.

That forum/resource is -

No presents

Giving presents really has nothing to do with Chanukah, which is about our spiritual survival. I think gift giving was instituted years ago to keep Jewish children in the Galut from feeling left out when the Christians celebrated their holiday. It's inappropriate to us.

Sister Abagail, December 5, 2018 12:30 AM

A Different Perspective

The L-RD gave us HIS TORAH as a Gift to us, to be a Light for us, in and through our LIVE Torah, Guided by HIS Wisdom that is above ALL Wisdom. So when we who choose to give gives on Chanukah, it is to share Hashem's Love, Living HIS Word and Being an Light, of an Example that shows THE WAY that Leads to Life and Peace, with the Love of HaShem in and Through us. A way to share the meaning of Mishpocha Togetherness, with Love by Living Torah! Giving is Living HIS Love. With Much Love, Respect and Prayers Always, Sister Abagail

THE dream Chanukah present would be......

HELENE LAM, December 4, 2018 2:20 PM

Chabad will kasher your kitchen for free

Chabad will kosher your kitchen for free

Anonymous, December 4, 2018 3:59 PM

To commenter Helene Lam

I know that Chabad will kosher my kitchen for free. The issue is getting my spouse on board. Sigh. Hopefully he will see the joy of a kosher kitchen.

Anonymous, December 5, 2018 12:58 PM

Jus do it!

Present him with the fait accompli.
That is, do it first.
It's a lot easier for you to KEEP a kosher kitchen once its in place
even if your husband makes a mistake, it can usually be fixed.
Besides, it's easier to do than he thinks. I'm talking about the real
Shulchan Aruch kosher kitchen and not all the little things that lots
of Jewish women "add in".
According to the strict rules, it's actually pretty hard to trefe up a kosher kitchen.
Best of Luck and May G-d be with you!
