Imagine the President of the United States ordering the confiscation and burning of every known copy of the new testament. How would christians feel about that? Our precious Talmud was burned not far from Notre Dame cathedral. When that cathedral caught fire on 4/15/19 all of France and the entire world watched as this great icon of christianity burned. For the French people it was a national disaster, but it was nothing compared to the devastation that French Jews felt in 1242 CE. The burning of Notre Dame was a mistake caused by careless workers. The burning of 10,000 volumes of the Talmud was a vicious antisemitic attack.

This is a stunning video.

Unfortunately, here in the U.S. we are still living in dangerous times when tyrants want to control what we read, think and teach our children. Thank you, Rabbi Sinclair, for this very thoughtful video. I will share with Jewish and non-Jewish friends.
