Rosh Hashana Rock Anthem is a parody of Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO.

Song Lyrics:
Synagogue, Rabbi’s talk, going on for a while, can you check the clock, huh
Cantor’s opera, lost my spot, do you know the place, choir in the slot
Wine we drink, with family now, good deeds you do, good for your soul
Fish head, ram's horn, shofar blow, give some money, appeal for dough

Yo, I’m returnin’ to the fold can you explain mo’
Got this desire to know Torah scroll, say hello
Our prayers rock, yeah, we’re the Jews and we question
Got the pride, just cant stop, our lives are changin'
Rosh Hashanah’s in the house tonight
All the world is passing through the light
Let’s all get written in the book of Life
Shana Tova – It’s High Holiday time

Taking stock is what we do tonight
Shana Tova – it’s High Holiday time
Let’s all get written in the book of Life
Blow the shofar and – Shuckle!

Three times a day I’m shucklin’
shucklin', shucklin'

Shofar blast, all across the world we will do this task
Apples and honey, feelin’ glad – now stop, never get mad

Fill the Kiddush cup, my friends around
Books are opened up, the challah’s round
All our history, we see it now
Now please hear our plea, we’re prayin' now

Stand up, sit down, pass the prayer books around
Stand up, sit down, pass the prayer books around
Stand up, sit down, pass the prayer books around
Pass the prayer books around, pass the prayer books around

Rosh Hashanah’s in the house tonight
All the world is passing through the light
Let’s all get written in the book of Life
Shana Tova – it’s High Holiday time

Taking stock is what we do tonight
Shana Tova – it’s High Holiday time

Let’s all get written in the book of Life
Blow the shofar and – Shuckle!

Everyday I'm shucklin'

(125) Regina, September 30, 2012 3:02 AM

So Well Done!!

I can't get enough of this video! I sent it to a few dozen people before Rosh Hashanah and I keep coming back to view it myself. The music, lyrics, DANCING - each of these guys is fantastic. Aish consistenly does a marvelous job of turning the music and style of the ambient culture into a "kosher" product for Jewish consumption. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

(124) giddalti, September 23, 2012 4:16 PM

Love the music and dancing! Can this be bought? I'd like to add it to my worship collection. Shalom!

Rosh Hashana Rock Anthem is simply beautiful. I am a senior citizen and enjoyed it very much. This proves that lyrics don't have to be filthy. I admire these young men. Happy and pray-filled Rosh Hashana to all.

(93) Emily, October 1, 2011 7:58 PM

what does Shuckle mean???

Pessy, October 3, 2011 12:44 AM

It's bodily prayer

It's a shaking movement back and forth that guys often do to get more engaged in the prayer. It could be very inspiring to watch, when you see how someone's entire body is literally in the prayer. If you go to an orthodox syngagogue on Yom Kippur you'll probably see lots of it. Enjoy. It "rocks!"

(77) Rivka, September 25, 2011 11:21 PM

Who ARE these guys?

I often watch acapella groups on YouTube and think, "They're great. But they need some good choreography." Who are these dancers, I'd love to see more of them!

(76) Anonymous, September 25, 2011 3:18 AM

it rocks

(75) Paul B - Philadelphia, September 24, 2011 8:29 PM

Really cool

Really cool..spread the word.

(74) Cantor Shlomo Goldberg, September 24, 2011 6:16 PM

Novel idea

Excellent dancing and singing in unexpected surroundings, but in the final analysis will the well intentioned message attract the wavering youth to Shul and a meaningful observance of the Holyday. Nevertheless a very cool idea.

(73) K.F., September 24, 2011 5:40 PM

A skeptic in the house wonders if these were hired secular dancers rather than nice Yeshiva boys who just happen to have killer dance moves--?

emily, October 1, 2011 8:03 PM

Same thought...

I had the same thought... but Aish is for bal teshuva's as well... so it could be that they are becoming observant.

(72) Corey G., September 24, 2011 1:50 AM

So cool!

A friend of mine at work forwarded this to me--what a gas! I just love the energy--the music and the moves. I've forwarded this onto a bunch of people. What fun.

(71) Anonymous, September 23, 2011 11:25 PM

You are amazingly talented!! It was great to see Orthodox Jews break-dancing!

(70) Rob, September 23, 2011 9:42 PM

YOu Might Like This

Get down with your bad Jewish self.

(69) lois hutchins, September 23, 2011 11:50 AM

Helps put a party spin on the holiday--my Sunday school class loved it!

What a fun way to celebrate. This video resonates with the under 18 crowd and keeps kids interest. Keep making more!

(68) Yael, September 23, 2011 9:42 AM

is the blond guy jewish?! thats insane! how is that possible?

(67) Anonymous, September 23, 2011 2:32 AM

absolutely fantastic!

Todah from New Mexico, USA - we LOVED it!!! :)

(66) T.B., September 22, 2011 11:52 PM

Cool Dance, But...

The dancing and the moves are great, but I just don't feel like it conveys the true spirit of Rosh HaShana. Even when we're trying to attract the younger generation, to show the secular world that Judaism can be cool and fun, we have to be honest about what we're selling. And Rosh Hashana is not about dance moves. Yes, it's a day of joy. But it's a joy mixed with the respect, awe, and seriousness that accompanies a day of judgement. So let's present it that way. And even if it doesn't look quite as cool, doesn't spark quite as many enthusiastic responses, at least we are being honest. With ourselves and the rest of the world.

vogelgesang, September 26, 2011 3:06 PM

who is selling a product ?

(65) Gail, September 22, 2011 9:44 PM

awesome! those guys have some serious skills. love from NYC!

(64) Anonymous, September 22, 2011 3:35 AM

Watched it a few times and each time the music was so great! The dancing is super fantastic! When do these guys have time to practice? Please keep making them and not only at holiday time! The lyrics were incredible too!

(63) Chile, September 21, 2011 8:27 PM

We love this video, here in Chile, South America!

(62) Anonymous, September 21, 2011 6:30 PM

oy vey. Yes they have good moves- but that ain't shukilin. That is break dancing. I hope one day we can all get a rush from the goog old ROSH Hashana- the way it can be. Close to Hashem our King with Love!

Gail, September 22, 2011 9:43 PM

there's always at least 1 critic...and that critic usually didn't get it or took it too seriously. figures.

(61) Shlomo Ben Meyer, September 21, 2011 4:56 PM

Glad to see the younger generation coming back into the fold.

(51) Anonymous, September 19, 2011 5:13 PM

It's gone viral!!

COOL! I saw this exact video on a viral video site. Even non-jews love this song!! Here's the link:

(50) Marian, September 19, 2011 4:41 PM

ROCK video? Not....

RAP video is more like it - sounds like the commercial for the KIA Soul. Enjoyed the acrobatics, but not the music - but that's just my personal preference. I don't care for rap/hip-hop.

(49) Joel, September 19, 2011 4:02 PM

Like it, loved it, cool, the video rocks!

Some of the moves were stunning to watch. The boys have rhythm!

(46) Samantha Petz, September 19, 2011 11:53 AM

They totally rocked! Ministering to the youth in their style!

I am 38 years old but feel like a teenager. I was a gymnast and acrobat and loved (still do) to dance. Any form of creative, artistic art with rythmn I love these guys should keep doing what they are annointed to do! Thumbs from me!!

(45) Patricia Murphy, September 19, 2011 9:48 AM

Enjoyed very much.

(44) Anonymous, September 19, 2011 6:31 AM

We used to live in the Rova, so nice to see the streets with dancing Jews! Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh.

(43) nachama, September 19, 2011 4:23 AM

the dancers

are they truly religious students or dancers hired for the video, esp the blonde is such a great athlete?

(42) Anonymous, September 19, 2011 4:12 AM

So cool....

I'm pushing my later senior years and I LOVED this clip.

(40) Dovy, September 19, 2011 4:01 AM

Too Bad...

the religion has ossified to the point that many folks like me feel hopeless that they can ever connect to it -- and I'm older than 50.

(39) Anonymous, September 19, 2011 1:29 AM

I'm 75 and Love it, Love it - know my kids and grandkids will love it too! It keeps up the great spirit! THANK yOU

(38) Sally, September 19, 2011 1:14 AM

I loved it, loved it, loved it! Awesome and all that jazz! Wish I could join the dancing. Good thing I can't, since (I'm female and also) would probably break something. My heart's in it though. Kol Hakovod and a gut gebenched yar.

(32) Jeff Allan, September 18, 2011 7:57 PM

Now that's in touch with our energy.

Let,s take this example of such passion and channel it into our Tefillahs with abundant joy. Words are powerful but dance like Dovid Hamelech and let our Tzelem Elokim shine through. Shana Tova Yisrael!

(31) Bruce Reichenbach, September 18, 2011 7:41 PM

(29) Bet Amante, September 18, 2011 6:43 PM

Yessssssssssssssssssss! Praise G-d in song and dance!!!

I don't know how the older folks feel , but this kind of free and joyful expression of religion could totally turn the Jewish youth back to the torah and the faith of our fathers. I love it...and I am 71 years young! Shalom,Y'all! From Houston Texas, Y'all

(28) Chana, September 18, 2011 6:14 PM

Love it! love it!

What a wonderful clip! My husband and I are in our 70's and we were dancing along with our Golden Retriever to this happy beat, having a great time! Although we are in good shape and exercise daily at our Gym, we have to leave the break-dancing up to the younger ones, but what a great enjoyment it gives us to watch these young people having such a marvelous time while bringing the message of Rosh Hashanah home. l'Shanah Tovah to all and may it indeed be very sweet!

Anonymous, September 19, 2011 3:09 PM

Y'all are the stars!!!! Perfect intro to R"H!!! Hope everyone's R"H davening is as energetic as this video!!

(25) Anonymous, September 18, 2011 5:48 PM

This reminds me of my son-in-law who was in Israel and was invited to Mattersdorf for Rosh Hashana. He expected a party...Somehow when he was leaving Eretz Yisroel he fell and ended up in Aish. The rest is history...about 16 years ago...

(24) Fangyu, September 18, 2011 5:40 PM

Happy Rosh Hashanah to everyone, Shalom!

Hahahaha......good video, I had been to some of the places that were shown in the video. Nice. Thanks for sharing.

(20) Yale Himelbloom, September 18, 2011 4:00 PM

What a remarkable video showing the lighter side of Orthodox (?) Jewry.

(19) margot, September 18, 2011 3:44 PM

(15) LEONARD ROSENBERG, September 18, 2011 2:26 PM

(14) Rebecca, September 18, 2011 12:23 PM

I loved this video! It brought back memories and my longing to go back and visit the Old City! It is one of the most beautiful places in the world where your Yeshiva is. And that is why Jews worldwide should have been speaking out all along against supporting a mythical Palestinian state in Israel's midst. When Israel agreed to give the Palestinians a state, they were essentially admitting that they stole the land from the Palestinian nation which is a dangeous toxic lie. This has reverberated into a very dangerous situation, especially with the upcoming appeal to the UN by the PA on 9/23. We see what has happened in Gaza and all over the middle east. Let's hope that this will never happen to the rest of Israel, including our precious Jerusalem! At this point we truly need Hashem's intervention! We Jews messed up and we need to fix this before it is too late! These Arabs must be absorbed by their brethren and their 26 countries and leave tiny Israel alone!

(13) Anonymous, September 18, 2011 12:12 PM

If this is what they look like on Rosh Hashana - can you imagine what Simchas Torah looks like?!

(12) Susan Grace, September 18, 2011 12:05 PM

Absolutely fabulous video. Shanah Tovah Umetukah.

(11) kate b, September 18, 2011 11:57 AM

Terrific - Loved it.

It is as much fun as the Hannukah Song and something the youth will like and identify with.

I dunno..

I think they're setting this guy up for a HUGE letdown if he thinks this is what Rosh Hashana davening is

If Only We Know What We Could Accomplish

Hi David, you make an interesting point. If only we could all see the true power of our prayers, especially on Rosh Hashanah, I think we would all want to start break dancing! Rosh Hashanah is a time where we can experience great joy in the ability to renew ourselves, but it's also a time where we stand before G-d in judgement, so we must give this time of year the respect that it deserves.

Judaism Has Never Been So Cool!

Great example of elevating the mundane & taking your G-d given talents and using them in a kosher way. Rock on!

I wanted a holy version of this song!

I heard this song in a public place this summer, and really wanted a clean, holy, & non-kol-isha version of it to share with my family--and you guys DID IT! And i love love love the dancing!
