Thanks for reminding us to explain why we do things on Pesach.

Tell and explain it to your children and to your childrens children. Fundamental to Seder success!

"You're not black, what do you know about slavery!"

A dear friend of mine was working on a project that involved Black Americans. Suddenly the meeting came to a full stop. The senior of the team says, "We need to talk about the Elephant in the room" My friend call him Schmul says, "What Elephant?" "You, you are white" "No I'm not" a long pause as they examine Shmul's features which are about as black as Elizbeth Warren is Native American. "Well what are you?" "I am a Jew" This seems to bring the discussion to an end. After the meeting he is approached by one of the black participants. "How can you appreciate our experience of slavery?" My friend asks,"When you get up in the morning do you thank God you are not a slave?" "No I don't (with a look of amazement)" "Well I do, every morning, every morning I thank God I am not a slave, and twice a day in my prayers again and if I eat bread at a meal again. And every year My family sits down to remember the slavery and the freedom the Almighty granted us, every year. Not 10 or 100 years not 250 years but for 3500 years." So if you want to understand the memory of enslavement and freedom ask a Jew." There is more but this is not the format.
