It is written "you know not the hour nor the day."

awesome story - thanks this is my take - my oldest brother in high school was driving a car filled with friends and an accident occurred. Everyone was safe an my Aunt Orpha kept saying his guardian angel was on his shoulder - well I saw the car and the fact that anyone survived - it was totalled. Then a friend home on leave in 67 was on his "B"day his car hit a tree and he passed I too saw his car barely a scratch yet he perished. My take on this is that in heaven is a book and it contains the names and date of birth and death hour - day - year. that these dates can never be altered even by God. When sharing this with my brothers - one brother said he thought that when we come to a fork in the road of our journey if we choose one the way will be paved more to our liking and the other more difficult. That each fork on our journey will have learning and growth but one will be more difficult. I think these two thoughts I've shared are true - for me it makes life easier @ times to accept - that if we took the one road to the left life would sail smoothly the majority of the time. Thus, free will. My date book on the other hand is solid truth time of exsistance time of passage set down in permanent ink! That is not given to free will - but the paths chosen filled with God's plan to get us from here to the other side - choice to a degree, but choice just the same. lessons from our Father in heaven in hopes of evolving the human race beyond the hatred and money hungry- take a buck no matter who gets hurt. The me me me attitudes of our self serving individuals who stand by and take joy in doing evil to others and those who are in places to change the outcome but to busy to change the status quo. The "Oh Well" . Once real Justice is served to all God's children here on earth, and a realization that we are all on this journey next stop may well be Hell or Heaven folks will begin to do as God has asked " Please, Take care of your brothers and sisters in life!" Each other

Thank you for this lovely story.
We were told in our youth group
That The Almighty is sewing a tapestry
It's beautiful on His side but to us just looks chaotic. We are looking at the back of the tapestry. All the knots and loose threads, etc
Our life makes sense when after trials and troubles we then see The Almighty has been making something beautiful

Purims Hidden Meaning

I wanted to thank you for this story. I am always out to learn about new things and your religion is new to me. My interest was sparked by a picture I found in my family genealogy of one of my great great grandfathers who indeed dressed and looked of a man from your religion. As I said it sparked my interest as I am still trying to feel what is right when it comes to what seems good in my heart. Again thank you for your Web page and story.

The Divine Plan

Sweet video, Rabbi Aron. Frequently, the road we take to AVOID our destiny or mission is predictably the very road where we MEET our destiny. I have learned this by experience. I would arrive just in time. By trying to avoid it. I wish I still remembered Yiddish. It used to be my native tongue. So I cannot comment on whether it's Haman's hat, pocket or ears, yet your video brings it to fulfillment the exact nature of God's plan. Some times I believe there is no such thing as free will, and that we are all puppets and that God is the Great puppeteer. As a Kabbalist I think free will just might be illusion. :-)

Video re Purim By Rabbi David Aaron

Hamantaschen doesn't mean Haman's hats, it means Haman's bags or pockets. And Haman's ears are Hamanohren,

Ra'anan, March 23, 2016 6:02 PM

he means in...

HEBREW they are "Haman's ears," (ozeinei haman), not in Yiddish.

Having fun with words again

Either you have free will to change G-d's predestined coarse or you don't . Let's say you go with the bad guys . Well then ...G-d knew that already and doesn't have to alter his plans . Let say you decide to go with the good guys . So what? You participation is not going alter the outcome . You might be casted as a sacrificial lamb for the cause , lucky you ! Participation or lack of it is by default the correct coarse in the grand scheme of things .
If evil and defiance compell you to decisions ( like the Pharoah Of the Exodus) , it is because you are fulfilling a Divine mission . It is the correct impulse because G-d casted you in that role to test the others candidates .
Would you dare say that G-d is waiting for your next move because he doesn't know what your gonna do ? On the flip side my mind resist the notion of the Divine would play Russian Roulette with free choice loaded in the chambers . That game was invented by evil humans , not G-d .

Flexibility and Partnership

Say rather, that G-d knows all the possible choices and utilizes the one we actually make to reach his ultimate goal - which can be reached in many different ways. Also, consider that G-d may deliberately leave his plan open so that we become partners in the creation of his story.

There is much wisdom concentrated in that short video. I've added it to my favorites and will come back to it frequently. This is the kind of things our children need to be expossed to instead of those violent, gross, sociopathic "kids" video games and toons. Perhaps the Rabbi should launch a cartoons company :)
Thank you Rabbi, for sharing with us your deep wisdom, and in such beautiful and amenable manner to boot. May Hashem continue blessing you and yours abundantly.
