General Education? or Jewish Education?

At retirement age, with 3 university degrees, I realize that I'm too ignorant of Yiddishkeit even to understand exactly how ignorant I am. I've learned how to say the usual Shabbat prayers, I've worked out an answer to Where Was G_d that currently makes sense to me, and I'm learning more about Jewish history. All the same, I know less than an 8-year-old raised by Chabad parents.

I really appreciate websites like Aish. Thanks to them, I can learn at least a few things I care about.

Shma Yisrael

When dealing with the challenges we face every day, how can a person ever sort out truth, unless they are forever learning?

Even when Hashem gave the Torah and Israel said, "Na'aseh", we'll do it, we still needed to add, "Nishma", we'll keep learning.

Even after the rules and the truth are all spelled out in the Torah, each day ahead still brings fresh trials, demanding fresh learning to rise up to the challenge.
