Just want to totally agree with comments #1 and #2 , with one caveat: in its early years, it did help its readers to think outside the box.

My son was going to work for then when he grew up

Nt son Rodney Ascher was going to work for them when he grew up and wanted to go to comic book school. We made he get a real education with A Bachelor's at U of Miami and he is now a film maker living in Los Angeles.

Mad Magazine in the 21st Century

I was in Barnes & Noble maybe five years ago and picked up a copy of Mad while checking out the magazine rack. It was totally filthy. Good riddance!

End of an Era

It was rather an institution and to me, at least, frequently highlighted crucial insights on human nature. Had we "taken the hint", society as a whole might be much better than it is now - including less antisemitic.
