I think it would be a great idea to get rid of social media. A phone should just be a phone that you need in emergencies. People would talk to other people and read actual books. Hopefully, everyone's attention span would increase from more that 3 seconds.

Try village life

My Father's family like his French in-laws grew up in villages and everybody knew each other - in some ways too well. During some of those summer holidays in France in my Aunt's village it was very clear that the bush telegraph had told everybody who I was even though I was never to find out who everybody else was. They might not have been on a keypad half of every hour but they could spot a shift of expression on your face or body language before you had finished making it. It just was not worth trying it on with my Aunt nor my Father and Uncle. They knew people too well and so discipline and social education went deep and effective unlike some of my latter day urban feral pupils abandoned to television baby minding and NO two way live discourse. It is not being connected that will do for you or anybody; but whether you take or ignore an interst in people. At a recent functiion - on behalf of Manchester Jewish Community I and another were visiting a large school on Jewish hasbara - a rather sharp and clued up head prefect whose family had evidently come from the former Indian Empire asked if I was a religious Jew; to which I replied I was an interested Jew and as such of course we found ourselves in a detailed discussion about alphabets to mutual benefit.
