How do we educate children against anti-Semitism?

This is learned behavior-it speaks volumes of his bigoted parents

Anti-Semitic views have clearly been instilled into this innocent child. SHAME on his parents!

It’s Not Funny

I saw this video when it aired on Ellen’s show and found no humor in it. Why no one ever took Ellen to task on it perplexed me. It was not funny. It was very disturbing that this child had this thought. From where did he get this idea? His parents? His school? His church? And Ellen did nothing and just made a joke. I stopped watching Ellen because of this.

heart breaking

his parents or religious leader should educate him, it probably comes from his home and his relatives
shame on them

She owes an apology

She should have stopped and talked to this child he was wrong. Instead she just keep the “joke” on and laugh. It was not funny, I used to watch her shows no more after this.

Ellen should be called upon to address this issue

This video should be sent to the ADL to contact Ellen. Anti-semitism is not funny. Ellen's act of tearing up the script is insufficient because kids are unlikely to understand it as a condemnation of bigotry. Young kids need explanations and should not be allowed to treat prejudice as funny.

The writers and producer - Kahn , Kasdan Kaufman and of Coarse Lucas brought it to the screen .
The intent was to demonize the Nazis by bringing up images of the 3rd Reich in the movie . The Nazis were certainly fighting against Jewish lead Communism in the world .
This does in fact shows how young kids are impresssionable whether the indoctrination is religion or who the good guys and bad guys are .

The Child Learned This From Somewhere

People were laughing because they find the notion that Jews are going to take over the world ridiculous. As they should, because this is a deranged and racist conspiracy theory.

Unfortunately, this child is not entirely to blame for his statements. He must be used to an environment where Jews are regularly accused of atrocious actions-- perhaps in literature, from other children, or other adults. Where adults in particular fail to set an example, children will often follow in the same way.

Who knows what exactly the child meant?

I wish Ellen had asked what he meant by "the Jewish." That information was needed to form a more specific opinion of this item. I also would have asked him where he got the idea of calling these take over people that name.

The boy is pretty clear

I understand him very clearly. You can infer why he thinks this way.

good for Ellen

Ellen rips the paper. She gives him a disapproving look and states, "I didn't know about that one." She either spoke to the boy off-camera or he got the message from her look because he assures Ellen that "one of his best friends is Jewish". (Also prejudice but innocently so.) The only suggestion I would've made to her is to end with "I spoke to the boy..." or "Of course, this can not be tolerated..."

Just a Gag Line

Can we be sure that the boy really told Ellen that he had a Jewish friend? It's such a gag line, she could just have thrown it in for laughs. I don't think the child was even aware enough to feel he needed such a defense - and the statement did start out as a defense against accusations of bigotry.

Thank you Ellen

It’s nice to see Ellen’s reaction in support of our people, in thinking that is a ridiculous thought. Sadly, many adults believe that, too!

Lack of Reality

It's clear that to this child "the Jewish" are not real people but rather comic book monsters, like aliens from outer space. Ellen's action in dramatically tearing up the "script" does count for something, but I would have liked to see & hear her explain to this boy that Jews are not monsters but real people who are no more evil than any other.

This video is appalling. And it's even more appalling that Aish would feature it as amusing under the tab Jewlarious.. This should not be seen as comedy.
A complaint ought to made to NBC.
Would they have aired it had the child said that Muslims are planning on terrorizing the entire world or that Blacks will be raping all white women. I am positive they would not be featured as a "kids say the darndest things" video. The claim about Jews is equally odious and false.

so funny

Of course, it's obvious that anti-semitism is rampant as it's always been. But Ellen's reaction was immediate, and her message was clear that this is intolerable.

The child who is writing a script about the Jews taking over the world is an annocent, pure soul. It’s his parents who are disgusting and hate mongers and poison his soul.

(2) Anonymous, July 16, 2018 5:52 PM

Did this air on Ellen's show? And all she said about it was the kid said one of his friends is Jewish? That's all? And the audience was laughing throughout the whole thing? And that's it?

What's wrong with this whole picture? And why exactly are you showing it? It's extremely upsetting, and you're not suggesting anything to do about it!

There IS NO Way!

As sad as it may seem, the child in this video is obviously repeating something he heard at home.
Something he LEARNED at home.
Something he has ALREADY been INDOCTRINATED with from home.
I read an article this past weekend on Jews in Jordan.
One of the Jewish students learning there, saw a mother step on a flag of Israel painted on the street (for this purpose; that is, to be stepped upon and symbolically degraded).
The mother then turned to her eight-year old son and instructed HIM to spit on the flag.

There simply IS NO WAY to fight this.
The attitudes, hatreds, antisemitism and prejudices of the parents are being so faithfully guarded, practiced and upheld by the next generation.

Maybe only the Messiah can change this.
I don't know.

all the children who are in
all the homes of
all these parents with
all their hate and
all their antisemitism,
are not going to do
anything different or
anything else
pass the hatred on.

I WILL say one thing.
I plan to write to Ellen G. and ask
what if the child had said,
"because we need to kill all the niggers"?
Would Ellen still be laughing?

First we have to realize how funny it's NOT!
Then, we can start to change it.
Perhaps one case at a time.
not while the kids are still hearing those vitriolic messages every single day
from their own biased and prejudiced and hateful parents
who probably hard it from THEIR parents.

Only by breaking the chain.
I know it GAS to be done.
I just don't know how to DO it.
