Ki MiTzion Teitzei Torah - the Torah will emanate from Zion
"Ki MiTzion Teitzei Torah - the Torah will emanate from Zion" Zion = Jerusalem
This infographic is missing the main thing! Besides for the Second Temple, Jerusalem was the seat of the Sanhedrin - the main court of Jewish Law. Its yeshivas and houses of Torah and prayer are much more significant statistics than Hebrew U and Nobel prizes!! How man yeshivas? How many students of Torah? How many shuls and Batei Medrash? THOSE are the facts and figures that are the essence of Jerusalem. Secular knowledge has its place in this world, but it is not characteristic of Jerusalem whose outstanding quality is its spiritual essence - its Torah. I'm far prouder of Mir and Porat Yosef, of the awe-inspiring Churva synagogue destroyed by the Jordanian Legions and now rebuilt, the Nissan Beck synagogue also destroyed at that time and hopefully will soon be rebuilt... You obviously can't highlight every one of those landmarks, but any one of them would be far more iconic of Jerusalem and representative of its soul than Hebrew U, Nobel prizes notwithstanding. You mention that the two original names of Jerusalem - Yeru and Shalem mean vision of peace. An additional meaning of Shalem is wholeness, completeness. That wholeness comes from the Torah - the source of perfection. Toras Hashem Temimah.

Spot on!
Ditto for marathon runners, bike trail, high tech companies... these are NOT what make Jerusalem special. We're not just another city that's famous for its marathons like Boston, New York and Tokyo. Our flagship accomplishment in Jerusalem is not being the Silicon Valley of the Middle East. And certainly not that we have a long bike path. None of this represents what's special about Jerusalem and actually misrepresents what should be pointed out above all. Its uniqueness is that it's the spiritual nerve center of the world and that can't be duplicated anywhere else. Every fine Jewish value emanates from our spiritual core - Jerusalem!

correction
the first neighborhood built outside Jerusalem's Old City Walls is called Mishkenot Sha'ananim (Sir Moses Montefiore) 1860, that's right.

I love the idea of the time line in a non written way. It's very easy to use and understand. Great job!

Jerusalem Forever!!!
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Members of the Arab list de facto acknowledge this by attending sessions of the Knesset.

Jerusalem the capital of Israel
Jerusalem the capital of Israel
Jerusalem the capital of Israel
The Government of Israel should announce it and apply it in practice through the transfer of the capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem .
The world should respect it as a truly historic for God's chosen people / people of Israel according to the promise of the Lord .

What about the Second Temple
Very nice infographic. Probably should have included the building of the second Beit Hamikdash.

Wrong date for the capitolization of Jerusalem
Jerusalem became the capitol of Israel during the 8th year of the reign of King David. That's 2892 after creation. Less than 3000 years ago. Jewish history has it the Jews left Egypt 2448 after creation. 40 years later they entered Israel. Stayed for 850 years. The 1st 403 years are pre King David's move to Jerusalem. That's 37 years before the building of 1st Temple, which stood 410 years.

compliments on excellent article
Excellent work; I will share it with my Facebook colleagues. Mark Twain's comments on his visit are proof enough of the miracles that G-d worked through the return of Israel.

This is excellent.
Some additional facts people don't realize:
What Jerusalem, and indeed, Israel, looked like (swamps, desert, etc.) before 1948.
Who initiated the 1967 war that resulted in Jerusalem being returned.
A general map of the Middle East including Israel. The rest of the Middle East one color, Israel another. "Where should the Palestinians go????"
Samuel Noi, April 23, 2015 2:27 PM
Arabs initiated the 1967 war
There is nothing like the Palestinians. The workers who were employed by the Jews who cultivated the land came from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and now Jordan (Trans-Jordan).
A good piece of research, even if not 100 percent right, we can agree that over 99 percent is correct? That makes it an acceptable work! Well done!
