I am a Zionist, a proud Muslim Zionist, and I love Israel, but this was not always the case. In fact, for many years I was quite the extreme opposite. I experienced the high levels of anti-Semitism and anti-Israel activity taking place on British university campuses, because I was the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel activist.
Growing up in the Muslim community in the UK I was exposed to materials and opinions at best condemning Israel, painting Jews as usurpers and murderers, and at worse calling for the wholesale destruction of the "Zionist Entity" and all Jews. In short, there was no accommodating a Jewish State in the Middle East.
To grow up around this constant barrage of hatred directed at Israel has a massive effect on an individual’s own opinions. More disturbingly, many of these people weren’t radical or extreme, but when it was about Israel the most vicious of rhetoric poured out, coupled with the casual anti-Semitism that seemed too prevalent, when the phrase "stop being a Jew" used as an insult.
My father, however, was much more brazen in his hatred, boasting of how Adolf Hitler was a hero, his only failing being that he didn't kill enough Jews.
By the time I had reached 18 I was completely indoctrinated to the fold of radical Islamism. My hate for Israel and for the Jews was fuelled by images of death and destruction, set to the backdrop of Arabic melodies about Jihad and speeches of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah or Osama Bin Laden.
These views were reinforced when I attended Nakba Day rallies, where speakers predicted Israel's demise as Hezbollah flags were waved proudly in the centre of London.
The Case for Israel

Was there a case for Israel? In my mind, of course not, there was no shadow of doubt. Even the most moderate clerics I came across refused to condemn terrorism against Israel as unjustified; the Jews must obviously deserve it, I believed.
So what changed? How could I go from all this hatred to the great love for and affinity with Israel and the Jewish people? I found myself in the Israel and Palestine section of a local bookstore and picked up a copy of Alan Dershowitz’s The Case for Israel. Given my worldview, the Jews and Americans controlled the media, so after brief look at the back, I scoffed thinking "vile Zionist propaganda."
I felt a crisis of conscience, and began a period of unbiased research.
I did, however, decide to buy it, content that I would shortly be deconstructing this propaganda piece, showing that Israel had no case and claiming my findings as a personal victory for the Palestinian cause.
As I read Dershowitz’s arguments and deconstruction of many lies I saw as unquestionable truths, I searched despairingly for counter arguments, but found more hollow rhetoric that I’d believed for many years. I felt a real crisis of conscience, and thus began a period of unbiased research. Up until that point I had not been exposed to anything remotely positive about Israel.
Now, I didn't know what to believe. I'd blindly followed others for so long, yet here I was questioning whether I had been wrong. I reached a point where I felt I had no other choice but to see Israel for myself; only that way I’d really know the truth. At the risk of sounding cliché, it was a life-changing visit.
No Apartheid State
I did not encounter an apartheid racist state, but rather, quite the opposite. I was confronted by synagogues, mosques and churches, by Jews and Arabs living together, by minorities playing huge parts in all areas of Israeli life, from the military to the judiciary. It was shocking and eye-opening. This wasn't the evil Zionist Israel that I had been told about.
After much soul searching, I knew what I had once believed was wrong. I had been confronted with the truth and had to accept it. But I had a bigger question to confront, what now? I’d for years campaigned against Israel, but now I knew the truth.
Israel is not just a Jewish issue ― it’s about freedom, human rights and all the values that the West cherishes.
The choice was obvious: I had to stand with Israel, with this tiny nation, free, democratic, making huge strides in medicine, research and development, yet the victim of the same lies and hatred that nearly consumed me.
Doing this is not easy and that’s something that has become very obvious. I have faced hostility from my own community and even some within the Jewish community in the UK, but that’s the reality of standing up for Israel in Europe today. It is not easy, and that’s what makes it so necessary.
This isn’t about religion and politics; it’s about the truth.
When it comes to Israel, the truth is not being heard, the ranks of those filled with blind hatred continue to swell, yet many have not been exposed to the reality, away from the empty rhetoric and politically charged slogans they are so fond of.
We can change this situation but we need to be strong and united. Israel is not just a Jewish issue ― it’s about freedom, human rights and democracy, all the values that Western nations cherish. It’s also about trying to be a light among nations.
Israel’s international humanitarian aid work speaks for itself, but if we don’t get the message out there, no one will. We don’t have to be head-bowed apologists leading with :Israel’s not perfect…" ― we should never be afraid to say: I am a Zionist and I’m proud. I stand with Israel. Now I ask, will you do that?

What a brave man
I am on awe of the bravery and goodness of this man who stands up for Israel. If only all Jews were as proud and brave Zionists. May all your descendan tedt s be blessed.

You are very true
Israel is powerful because it is God is with them. The Jews are God's chosen race and God will never desert them Praise the Lord and bless the Jews.

I used to be the same
It was VERY difficult for me to admit I was wrong about Israel.

set up group to propagate ideas
The issue is not for us to stand and speak buit to coordinate an effort to get these ideas published. Articles by these and others by Yvette Miller, rabbi Bleich, etc. should be sent to major newspapers around the world. If not published a letter should be sent by a top lawyer working pro bono to the newspaper talking about (a) the LEGAL responsibility to give balanced reporting and (b) even more so the distortions in what is printed constitute slander and hate crimes and unless completed rescinded and a 180 degree turn around takes place, legal action will ensue. This takes a lot of lawyers, but it will work if they are willing.

lets stop the spread of lies and hatred and live in peace
thanks for this boldness. and coming out of this lies that is spreading like wide fire. Jew and Christianity stand for peace
(130) Miriam, August 8, 2014 11:07 PM
Wow
Your journey is so very similar to my own!
I grew up (very!) Christian, and while I wasn't taught to hate Jews, I ended up with the opinion that they were 'a long-forgotten relic of the past', to be pitied because they didn't know what we know, and converted to save their souls. I was genuinely surprised to learn, as a young teenager, that there was an actual State of Israel! (you mean, like in the Bible?)
I had my own issues with the Christian doctrine that grew and festered in me, and I finally left the church around 19 or so, looking for another faith that coincided with my own personal beliefs. Imagine my surprise when that happened to be Judaism! I went through a long period of study and introspection, and finally converted to Orthodox Judaism at the age of 22 (I am now 33). Now, I feel as though I have always been Jewish, and truly see all the Jews in the world as being my family, my kin.
I have never regretted it.
(well, okay, sometimes I miss bacon ^_^)

Preaching To The Converted
This story will only be of value when reprinted in major non Jewish newspapers ,suggest The Guardian, Daily Mail, Observer and New York Times but doubt any of them have the guts to print it.

I feel better after reading your articles but....................
Articles by by Kasim Hafe Muslim and proud to be a Zionist and also the article above given by an American senator in 2002 are so well written and objective. WHY OH WHY CANNOT THESE ARTICLES BE QUOTED OR PRESENTED TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD? TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE IGNORANT AND JUST BRAIN-WASHED WITHOUT THINKING FOR THEMSELVES.
(126) Aaron / Haroon, August 4, 2014 7:10 PM

May G-d bless and protect you as a man of truth and peace. The world could use many more such people.

There is hope
Thank you for your article that was brilliantly and valiantly written. I pray that even amid the lies and the misinformation about Israel and the Jews that continue to exist in the world today, others will come to know the truth and take a stand as you have done. I commend you!!!

I think antisemitism is unreasonable. And when human beings no longer allow reason to guide their thinking, we end up with Hitler.
You are doing a brilliant job. Encourage reason to triumph!

yes I will stand with Israel, and Walid Shoebat is a former jihadist now a Christian who loves Israel, also Kamal, I have many friends from Iran who loves Israel
(120) A ford, May 15, 2012 6:14 PM
Whole story
Sorry did not explain whole story. My dad used to listen t a semi Christian cult called living church of god and they had a radio channel. A man called up claiming to have converted to Christianity after he was saved in a car reck. He was a supposed former jihadist who came to USA to recruits he claims and was saved by a missionary during that car reck. I found some one on the Internet that had the exact same story and this person runs a missionary group. So always check sources when someone claims to be a former terrorist because it is most likely a lie but I believe this man on this article.
(119) A Ford, May 15, 2012 4:48 AM
Interesting but beware some of these types of people are phonies
Before my dad died I was listening to a radio program in southern California about a jihadist who converted to Christianity , yes the man called up the station. He claimed to have participated in terror attacks against Israel and the us and I did a little research and found many website and book in which people claim similar stories. Sadly it turns out some of these people are phonies who were never jihadist just random arabs with mediocre Muslim belief nearly atheist who really converted to neo conservative atheist not christianity Since this man makes no claim to be an ex terrorist I believe his story.
(118) frida prodan, May 14, 2012 5:42 AM
slightly similar story
Being raised in a secular Muslim environment, I occassionally came accross people with similar beliefs Mr. Hafeez explains here. However the feeling was unanimous in my environment that Islam is supreme to all religions. Not understanding people's biase against the Jews & Israel, I never took a stand until later in life. Finally realizing I will raise my kids who're Christian as Zionists. We recognize Israel as the miracle it really is & are saddened by man's demonic side manifested in the Holocaust & continued global hostility to Jews in general. We're taking a stand & learning day by day its significance & how much work we have ahead of us as well. God's blessed this man for opening his eyes, we need many more like him, bet there are many more but they're afraid to speak up for Israel.

(115) michael hollander, May 8, 2012 12:28 PM
I wish there were more like him, but it is a start!
Muslims tend to stick with the Palestinian thought of Israel is only good if it is run by Palestinians. Palestinians can't run a government! They are a welfare state plagued with hatred from Allah. America has given them $3.5 billion, and they only hate Americans! Wake up!!
(114) Sharon, May 7, 2012 7:28 AM
encouraging
It is so encouraging to realize that there is hope even for the most hateful and biased individuals, that they may be somehow led to see the truth. Mr. Hafeez must have some great merit to deserve falling upon this book and revealing the truth. May many more anti-Semites see the light.

As an american Jew, I know and have lied with Anti Semitism and little by little I have shown to so many non jews that we are are peaceful, loving traditional people, who will always give to the World only great knowledge, and accomplishments providing we are left alone to make these wonderful contributions to mankind continue.

Oh yeah you will not find the word Palestine in the kurhan , you can check that 2. So who are we to say other wise. So all the people that proposing that Palestine or what ever they want to call it should be devided from Israel are not very smart people !

I have often thought how can the Muslim and Jewish brothers begin to see each other as brothers. I have tears welling up in my eyes because this is the way it should be and you are a strong man to take such a stand. Muslim,Proud,Not-anti Jewish
I think his comments are very true.until you do your own research and stop believing everything you hear, whether in the media or from peers, you'll never know the truth. However, the majority of muslims are not anti jewish or anti Israel. Their problem, based on my knowledge, is a political one,not a religious one. Nowhere in the qu'ran does it say to revile jewish people. When there are so many similarities between our two religions, it seems stupid to that people are so ready to hate. Abraham (Ibrahim) is one of our highest respected prophets, as is Moses, and we are also allowed to eat kosher meat in the absence of halal meat,to name a few similarities. People who declare that all muslims are against israel/judaism should learn not to talk for other people and to keep their filthy hatred to themselves. As pertaining to the gaza etc situation, it affects me just as much as any human suffering around the world, and has nothing to do with the specific religions involved.May Allah show all muslims the right path to live in harmony with the other inhabitants of the world.Ameen

Amazing
Born into a culture of lies, distortions and teachings of hatred, as well as a culture that alters and assigns quite different meanings to words and concepts (such as: peace, hero, truth, martyr, rights, women, Zion, heaven, value of life), it's AMAZING that anyone can find and accept their way out. (It reminds me of young Abram from Ur Kasdim).
(99) John B. Martyn, May 4, 2012 11:41 AM
Awesome job by the British Muslim
I have read this article in "Stand with US" on facebook. But i was kinda disappointed with people like "Hannah Miller's" comments ( 94 ). She sounds like a typical redneck with bigoted hatred towards Jews growing up in a conservative christian background with absolutely no knowledge of the truth about Israel , the history of it's anti-semitic struggle to freedom
(98) Alex, May 4, 2012 10:42 AM
Wonderful
This is why we must pray for our enemies' hearts to be enlightened to listen to the Truth. Only God can melt a heart this way, and He can use messengers who are willing to help others to stop hating. God bless, guide and protect you always Kasim Hafeez.

(94) Hannah Miller, May 3, 2012 9:45 PM
you are making a big mistake, ugh THIS is jewish propaganda, it all is. everything around you, the media everything is owned by them, and sadly you've fell in there trap. I bet you're a made up person. Way to go jews, you got a few dumb americans on your side. Your not gonna win this fight.
Simon Allen, May 4, 2012 9:28 AM
Hannah Miller - Are you sure?????????
Ms Miller Well where to begin? Owning the media! Propaganda! A made up person! You also forgot to blame the Jews for 9-11, The Cold War, The French Revolution, The titanic sinking, after all it did hit an iceBERG!!! No seriously tx for the comment its always good to have a laugh in these trying times all the jews fault of course
chevra, May 4, 2012 11:07 AM

It truly must be awful to be so blinded by your obvious hatred. one can only hope you areable to rid yourself of that poison some day..
anonymous, May 4, 2012 11:12 AM
I guess you are too ignorant to come up with any cogent arguments for or against. And so thick are you that the best you can come up with is ignorant attacks. Go do your homework before coming on here and spouting your hateful crap
Greg, May 4, 2012 1:23 PM
You cannot be serious
How is it that such a small minority in the world population is able to control everything around us like you said??? You are probably one of those people who denies the holocaust or any contribuition made by the jewish people or Israel to the world. Maybe you should try to do the same as our author here, try getting some info not so biased towards one side.
Mark, May 4, 2012 3:01 PM
rebuttal to Hanna Miller
Hanna or whatever your name is...YOU MADE A BIG MISTAKE.. You are falling for the propaganda that the palestinians put out. You need to open your mind and not be lead around like a sheep. The Jews own the media???? sheesh if that was true then Rupert Murdoch, Ted Turner and countless others who are not Jewish...must be Jewish.
Anonymous, May 4, 2012 9:00 PM
Idiocracy.
No, you just obviously aren't well learned enough to know the truth. If you did, you'd know that it's not true. I feel bad that you are too stupid to think for yourself. Some people just don't have enough mental capacity, tough...
Woody woods, May 4, 2012 9:28 PM
Don't call people "dumb" while failing 3rd-grade homonym usage
I wouldn't call anyone "dumb" then use the wrong homonym. YOU'RE not going to convince anyone you have the advanced knowledge to determine the stupidity of others that way; in actuality, it has quite the opposite effect.
Abram, May 4, 2012 10:44 PM
heh
if that was the case you wouldn't be as sore as you are right now...sitting there at your computer in your mother's basement, turning red with anger and steaming from the ears :D we've always won and will always win!
Jennifer, May 5, 2012 8:56 PM
Propaganda and grammar
You argue that there may be a 'few dumb americans' on the side of the Jews. Whilst this in intself may reveal the level of your intellect, your grammar and punctuation serve to complete the picture. Nevertheless, I am glad you responded. Sometimes those of us who live in enlightened communities can forget the depth and ugliness of anti-Semitism. Some even forget it exists outside of the world of militant Islamists. Thank you for your poignant reminder of a continuing problem.
Steve, May 6, 2012 1:30 AM
Disagree
Hi, Adolf.
Ellen Levy, May 6, 2012 3:28 AM
Hannah Miller..hmmmm....that sounds like a JEWISH name...
You wouldn't be bending over backwards to prove to all your Jew-hating friends what a good little Jew-hater you are now would you, Hannah? You have to excuse me, but I didn't catch any solid arguments (other than "the Jews control the media" bs) so I have to assume you don't have any -- just a knee-jerk (you are definitely a jerk) reaction to anything even remotely Jewish. If you weren't so stupid, Hannah, I might even feel sorry for you.
(93) Shmuel, May 3, 2012 5:35 PM
A Heroic Man
May the God of our common father, Abraham, bless you and keep you strong and safe as you follow your mission in life. Your courage is absolutely inspiring. You chart a path of peace and truth for His people's sake, and for the peace of humanity.

when the hurt people find
There is a special feelling that brings tears of joy to my eyes when I see one person released from the chains of hatred, when one allows their spiritual consciousness to beging to search for answers to the dilemmas that we as humans suffer with each day, as a Christian I wish greatly to have a relationshiup with my Arab brothers and strive towards it each day, I wish for relationship with my Jewish brothers and sisters not for purposes of conversion suited to serve my religious beliefs but relationship of reconciliation and conversion of the heart of all my brethren in the greatest heart felt struggle we encounter each day. I pray for those trapped in their private pits of misery and invite them to seek the truth, that says everyone is not your enemy" but the real enemy is conquered when you begin to love others because ultimately we need each other.
Leslie, May 5, 2012 9:26 PM

They say that the measure of a great man is the ability to change ones mind when faced with the truth. You give me hope that there is a future with less hate. Thank you.
(91) getcher, May 2, 2012 7:58 PM
A wonderful story about a very decent brave Arab, Unfortunately stories like this are too rare, The too few Muslims who know the truth about the insane hate towards Israel, do not dare speak up
(90) Khan, May 2, 2012 12:51 PM
The truth is.
I suppose all Jews know that one cannot be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Prophet Moses and Torah as a revealed book. Unfortunately religion and politics are mixed together in opinion forming. Muslims and Jews have the same one and only God and Muslims can even eat Kosher food. Why cant we have a United States of Israel and Palestine where both the communities can live in peace and harmony? We are all children of Adam and Eve. Can you grasp the implication of this fact? Brothers and sisters!
Wassim, May 3, 2012 3:56 AM
Not as equals - Ishmael will defer to Isaac - there is no choice in the matter.
The time for negotiating on equal terms is long gone. Time for you to recognise the prophecy you claim to still believe in. If you believe in it, then defer to Isaac and be happy with the silver medal. The gold medal was awarded to Israel by God, who are you to challenge it?
(89) judith eliasberg, May 2, 2012 12:00 PM
Some Palestinians have been displaced.......sorry. But, millions of Jews living in Arab nations (Morocco, Egypt, Syria Etc. ) have been forced out of their homelands. No one seems to notice that. Instead of sitting in camps as many Palestinians have done perpetuating their problems, the Jews moved on and created a new live for themselves elsewhere. I am proud of what Israel has accomplished - not many other countries have achieved so much with such a small population base.
(88) Dima, May 2, 2012 11:08 AM
I was imprisoned for 6 hours at the age of 8 on an Isreali broader for forgetting my ID in my house back in Ramallah. How is that humane? You sir do not make any sense, you should be ashamed of your self. Let me assure you that this is not the ideal way of attracting attention, it pathetic to compromise your values for such a thing.
Anonymous, May 2, 2012 6:46 PM
Boarder(sp) prisoner ?!
You weren't imprisoned - you were denied entry - if you think any country would allow you to enter without documents - you are the one who makes no sense. Try entering the UK without papers - even at the age of 8 - and see how far you get, and what kind of treatment. It is pathetic that you display such antagonistic, twisted logic and portray yourself as the injured party. Grow up.
dov, May 2, 2012 8:14 PM
why were you not detained before 1988?
There are always reasons for communities to become more self defensive . I've seen kids like you shooting IDF soldiers all the time. The Palestinian leaders always used the young and weak to carry their "grandios plans" to "free" the Palestinians!
Leah, May 3, 2012 2:36 AM
Dear Dima
I'm so sorry for the heartache you have experienced by being detained at the border. Were you mistreated? Was food or toilet or water withheld from you? Did anyone assault you? Security is an unfortunate reality because of the murders of those who strap bombs on to kill Israeli citizens. Yesterday (May 4, 2012) an bus of Jewish children was attacked with stones and cinder blocks in Jerusalem--by other children! My questions to you: 1) Do you believe that the Jews have a right to exist in the Land of Israel or do you believe it should be destroyed? 2) Have you been to Jewish-Israeli medical clinics or hospitals to receive medical care? How were you treated? 3) How are you treated in general when you leave Ramallah and are shopping or doing other activities in Israel? 4) Have you been to stores, universities or recreational parks where Arabs and Jews are both spending time at the same time? I'd love to hear more about your experiences. How old are you now?
(87) miriam, May 2, 2012 11:06 AM
Thank you
Thank you for sharing. May your courage to stand up for what's right continue to embolden you to spread the truth. May there be more like you!
(86) Wassim, May 2, 2012 6:39 AM
I'm just pro Judaism - the rest is secondary.
1. I'm against Islam trying to scare me into remaining Muslim by threatening me with death. That is exactly the reason why I cannot be associated with Islam. In fact I reject formal religious conversion rituals. How I identify myself is nobody else's business. I can be Bhuddist on Monday and Shinto the rest of the week depending on my mood. 2. I'm against drawing a distinction between being Jewish and being Zionist. As far as I'm concerned, Israel has many Jews living there, and their existence and security is a humanitarian concern not a zionist agenda.
(85) Joe Ezekiel, May 2, 2012 1:18 AM
Would 100 million Muslims more, with opinions like those of Kasim Hafeez make a significant dent in the overall Muslim world's attitude vis-a-vis Israel and the Jews? Maybe, if we start with the United Nations, whose principal pre-occupation appears to be directed to condemnation of the only free, democratic and above all a humanely benign nation in the Middle East.
(84) Anonymous, May 2, 2012 12:35 AM

Thank G-d for his overcoming power and persuasive abilities to deliver those who are in bondage to evil and blind to their plight living in ignorance and condemned for destruction, But whom, by G-d's grace, struggle to seek his face in Truth. Let us pray that a multitude of young Muslims would come to know such redemptive action of G-d's Spirit within their lives and be the seed change for saving millions of Muslims who have been raised with such vile hatred for those whom The G-d Of Israel loves with an everlasting love!
(81) Elisabeth Soros, May 1, 2012 10:25 PM
Muslim,Zionist and proud
Thank You and G-d bless You. You have Justice and Rightiousness in your heart to speak up for the reality and against the Media propaganda, what the soviet communist used as well for long time. The Truth of G-d will come out.G-d bless You!

What a welcome expression of solidarity and support from our dear cousin. The campus is a battleground today - thank you for having the courage to speak out.
(79) Anny, May 1, 2012 4:28 PM
Most admirable
Mr Hafeez stands now to suffer for his conviction. It is much easier, nowadays as it was in the past 2.000 years, to be anti Jewish than to stand-up FOR them. I have had the doubtful "pleasure" to live through WWII and to survive, against all odds. I am proud to be an Israeli and to live in the country which convinced Mr. Hafeez that there is a lot here in Israel to be very proud of. GOOD LUCK, swimming against the stream isn't easy it needs a lot of strength. I admire him for it. Anny Matar, Israel

Truth will prevail.
Israel has gone through bad press. As a teenager I read Shylock in school and as a christian you are taught they kill all the prophets including Jesus. I read the Koran, and very page has condemnation remark for the Jews non acceptance of Islam. But as I grew up and seek enlightenment, I discover they are the most disciplined generation and they are light to the world. The truth will prevail.
(75) Kris Kristian, May 1, 2012 12:24 PM
Thank you for your honesty
I would love to send this to Archbishop of hate, Tutu, who has been so anti Semitic and anti Israel, that he has turned into an evil person He is trying to destroy Israel and the Jews. He even commented that "G-D favours the Palestinians" so, he promoted himself to G-D The Christian world condemns Israel and Jews. Yet, they have never been to israel, and seen and learned the truth. Freedom of religion, freedom of movement for all Israelis.Jewish, Christian and Muslim Education,. Jewish children, unlike the Arab Muslim children are taught that G-D gave the human race the greatest gift. LIFE. The Muslims teach their children to hate and to murder jews, will make them into martyrs. The Rabbis do not preach hate, murder. But that the Torah and the Bible teaches love and respect, junlike the koran which teaches hate and jihad The Koran teaches that Jews are decendents from monkeys and pigs. Those Christians who hate Israel and Jews so much, should visit Israel. Visit the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem and learn from them, the truth. Visit Yad Vashem. The holocaust centre, and see what hatred does. The Muslims are teaching their children exactly what the Nazis taught their children and nation. There could have been a Palestinian state, living side by side with israel, if the Arabs had accepted the UN partition in 1947. The Jews accepted a small piece of land. BUT!! 7 Arab nations attacked this very small nation on day one, tring to drive the Jews into the sea. Yet, the Jews drove those 7 arab nations away. ISRAEL WILL BE HERE FOR ETERNETY. IT IS G-D'S WILL..

Very beautiful and truthful article, a real eye opener, if only more and more people would realize no more wars and dictatorship, thank you for this article. I wish we could hear more about this in the mainstream media. Start believing in humanity again.

It is good to read, that there are people who take the effort tofind the truth
It is heart warming, I, a Holocaust survivor, who almost started to believe, that we Jews are on this world , so people can have something to live for,"HATING AND KILLING JEWS" unfortunatelly there are still some following this teaching, however we are getting stronger and more nations are ready to accept us as people. HISTORICALLY, WE ARE THE ONE WHO SHOWED THE WORLD THAT BY WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE FREEDOM FOR ALL IT IS CATCHING UP, TRUE NOT FAST ENOUGH, HOWEVER WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK> "EMBRERA"

After all you're both blood related brothers!!
There was a time that I asked, "What if these descendants of Abraham, Jews and Arabs, finally recognize that blood is thicker than water...It could become a powerful nation under heaven...then again, my point derives from my own Christian understanding of the bible!!..God bless you and your endeavor, God bless both nation if that day will ever come for them to unite as one!!
(68) Helene, April 30, 2012 11:32 PM
I wonder if he is willing to say this to Muslims?
It is important to say this to Jews but it is even more so to say this to your fellow Muslims.
Dvirah, May 1, 2012 3:55 PM
Yes, He Does
In his excellent article, Mr. Hafeez stated that he has encountered hostility from his own comunity - that wouldn't have happened if he had not tried to enlighten them too. Yasher Koah to Mr. Hafeez!

Truth wins out
If only, the truth could be shown to others as was shown to you, then maybe there would be the end of suffering. It is always easy to accept what is told or taught; yet it takes a real person with a neshama to seek out the truth. Good for you!

Thank God 1 Muslim sees the truth for himself!
What a lovely article, I enjoyed it. I hope he can tell the truth to his fellow men. Maybe, at some point in time all Arabs will see for themselves what is good and what is bad!
(64) sharon, April 30, 2012 7:43 PM
Does anyone want the truth?
This should be read by those who are convinced by the constant barrage of lies fed to them by the mass media. However, most people who SHOULD read this, wouldn't even entertain the idea as they are more comfortable with the mediocre 'information' they have: They feel they are informed and intelligent... where there is such strong ignorance, reason and TRUTH have no place!! This is what we are facing as Jews; Zionist or simply people who do know the history and reality of the State of Israel.
(63) Victoria, April 30, 2012 6:25 PM
God bless you Mr Hafeez!
I am a Christian, and I bless you too Sir, and my heart embraces you. Thank you for the courage of searching for and then seeing the Light. Be kept safe.
(62) Hannah, April 30, 2012 6:24 PM
article misplaced
I wish this article was published in a non-Jewish magazine, for example, in an Arabic newspaper or in one of those propaganda booklets for Muslims. Seeing it here, at Aish, feels like preaching to the choir. We do love Israel, we don't need to hear how great it is more than Muslims need to.
(61) Anonymous, April 30, 2012 6:08 PM
G-d Bless this man
Thank G-d he saw the light. May our G-d protect his life, which I'm sure is in danger, for his stand for Israel. May he continue to be able to shed light on Israel to his Muslim brothers and sisters as well as the rest of the world. Israel is too humble at times and doesn't let the world know all the good they do for all of us. We enjoy their technology and medical breakthroughs without know it has come through them - their doctors and scientists.
(60) Alan, April 30, 2012 5:20 PM
There is hope for a future of peace
As I read this, I wondered if maybe there is the real possibility of peace and brotherhood in the Middle East. I have high hopes that with this, the changing of attitudesof one single person, it can ripple outward to enabling a time of peacful co-existence. If one persons self journey can bring such a wonderful change, imagine what can be achieved with education. Unfortunately, many of people are fed lies about Israel and the Jewish people, blindly accepting what their parents, their religious leaders, and what their government says.. The internet is changing that, slowly. The great filters put on by the governments to keep their people believing lies are slowly unraveling. Muslims and Jews alike are learning more about each others culture, and seeing the truth for themself. People need to question old beliefs, and reason for themselves, as Kasim Hafeez has, and see that there are good people and good deeds on both side of the fence, and concentrate on that. Every society has evil, and it is up to the good people to see the truth for themself and eradicate that evil, and show others the way. We must re-examine all that has been past down to us unquestioned, and determine what is true. Muslims and Jews have a long history together, and we need to strive to understand and acknowledge each other, and learn brotherhood and peace. We can live together in Harmony. Any teacher who preaches hate is not a teacher. Anyone can preach hate. A true teacher enlightens and expands, makes us reexamine what we believe, distills out the truths from the lies, and then teach us to be better people...to forgive, to tolerate, to coexist, and to love. Kasim Hafeez has taken this step, at great personal sacrifice, and possibly danger, to tell his story. For this, he should be extolled as a hero. If more follow his footsteps, an age of peace and enlightenment is possible within our times. Be brave and keep telling your story. A great journey begins with one single step.

more muslims like you should tell the world
the man is great but unfortunately there are too little on earth thinking like him. we jews, know all of this but 99 % of the world don't :( the knowledge and the education from this man should come from the inside of the muslim community. think about how many years of hatred and brainwashing against jews? that will take a lot of time and a lots of great arab muslims to change the inside wrong mentality of 99 % of the world. so to me, peolple like him should be shown on TV , should write articles in newspaers and most of all should campaign and gather more arab muslims for the truth and the democraty, and most of all , the value of human life, any kind on earth
(55) LR, April 30, 2012 2:35 PM

(53) Nikki, April 30, 2012 1:41 PM
More than some
Thank you so much for telling us Israel is more than just a country inhibited by Jews, in need of destruction. Today we indeed see those that will use the current middle eastern situation as propoganda against the state of Israel, you showed us another side...if only others out there would do the same thing. Israel is an amazing nation, although some Israeli will claim it's only ment for the Jews you told us the way this great state realy functions. I pray many will follow your example...Jew, Muslim, Christian and Gentile alike. You sir will always have my respect. Salaam, Shalom and may there be peace for you, your family and loved ones.

I Support An Independant Israel
I believe that more Muslim majority countries will support the existance of the State of Israel if it does not depend too much on superpower countries. We are in the Christian season of Eastertide. One of the seasonal hymns is Thine be the Glory written to the tune of Lo the Conquering Hero Comes, the final song of Handel's Classical Musical Judas Maccabaeus. I read the sypnosis and script on the internet. It was an anti climax, with the emissary of Israel returning from Rome with the Senate's promise to protect the homeland from foreign invaders. The rest as we know, is history. Israel became a Roman colony. No wonder Israel is despised in Europe and considered a turncoat by Islamists. By all means be on good terms with large countries - they have large consumer markets. But there is a distinction on being a trade partner and being dependant on someone else's military protection.
Ene, April 30, 2012 11:52 PM
REMEMBER!!
Albert Eistein is a Jew!! I can name hundreds of some of the most powerful weapons of war used in the free world that derived from Israels' inventions. As a retired U.S. Marine, the so called "big countries" also depend on Israel of their weaponry inventions!!
(51) Dennis Stirk, April 30, 2012 11:55 AM
fascination for the Jewish people
I have always had a fascination for the Jewish people, and have developed a deep love for them over the years, especially after visiting Israel for a total period of 6 weeks in two visits in the latter part of the 1990's. We have so much that we owe them particularly as a committed Christian -Jewish people wrote the Word of God - we are responsible for the death of Jesus as He died for us all individually to redeem our sins to open up a way for us to Heaven.Thank you Jewish people for remaining constant in the love of God.
(50) Kerry, April 30, 2012 11:08 AM

I have added your name to my tefillos...
Whenever I read about or hear a Muslim or gentile speak who risks his or her life to defend Israel and the Jewish people and I KNOW that there is a fatwa on their heads, and so I daven for their safety. I have been doing this for several years. You are in good company as you will see by the following names: Michael Savage (he is Jewish), Brigette Gabriel, Dr. Wafa Sultan, Nonie Darwish, Rosine Ghawji, Walid Shoebat, Ibrahm Abdullah, Zak Anani, Geert Wilders, Raheel Raza, Steven Emerson, Douglas Murray and now...Kasim Hafeez. Some of these Muslims who have converted to Christianity have Jewish blood on their hands, but they have seen the folly of their ways and have repented. Thank you for your intellectual honesty and courage. You have made me believe that we will certainly see the coming of Moshiah in our day!
(48) Phil Rozner, April 30, 2012 9:56 AM

(46) Corin, April 30, 2012 7:13 AM
Knowledge will set you free
It is good to see someone else out there researching and questioning their world view. I grew up a complete atheist and staunchly against anything Christian or related to that whatsoever. So when I started looking into Judaism it came as a shock when everything I learned smashed my previous ideas to pieces and I was left with a worldview that was quickly deteriorating. I hope this guys story, life and work can help others discover truth for themselves and create a world of equality.
(45) Janet Lawrence, April 30, 2012 6:10 AM
It doesn't get much better than this!
My heartfelt congratulations and gratitude for your honesty and courage. You are a Mench in the truest sense of the word. Thank you for your courage and I only pray that you will influence others to see the truth as you have.
(44) Lynn Squance, April 30, 2012 4:26 AM
I remember in the movie 'Exodus' where Ari, played by Paul Newman, said that he and the local sheik played together as brothers. There was no difference, just two boys playing. Then he buried his friend who had been killed by Arab fighters, along with a Jewish girl that had also been killed by Arab fighters, in the same grave as a gesture of the peace that should be. Yes, it's Hollywood, but what a wonderful message of hope that both these people, both semitics, should lie together in peace for all eternity. I do not say that the whole movie is that hopeful, but it does have it's moments. I applaud this young man, Kasim Hafeez, for his willingness to think critically, to courageously challenge his beliefs in a way that leaves most people squirming with discomfort at the very least. I like the way Sachs, below puts it --- "When heart and brain meet each other, we become like a bird that flies." This has some very serious implications for all the world. For example, in the US, look at the number of people who blindly follow the rhetoric coming from the right and vote against their own well being. In one study, it is called low-effort thinking. I knew a woman once who changed churches because she wanted to be fed and not have to think about what was being said. The Creator gave us all brains that we might use them.
(43) Zalmen, April 30, 2012 4:04 AM
Courage to strand.
Congratulations BUT...as long as Ignorance promoted by NOT LETTING humans to USE their GOD guiven faculty.. TO REASON You can see the results (Youre risking Your life!! that You know) How DARE you USE the brain??You should have "suurendered" (isklams means surrender) to the OUTSIDE YOURSELFS REASON??.. This means EDUCATION and LEARNNING .. which is the Clue of THE people of THE BOOK (its all about LEARNNING to READ and THINK by ourselves) Thats why we haver TWO ears.. and only one MOUTH!! Listenning is MORE important than TALKING!.

We are related
I have been a Zionist since the age of seven. I was brought up to believe that Arabs were my cousins, only to be cruelly disabused of this belief from 1947 on. Finally, at age 78, i have found an Arab relation. Welcome, cousin Kasim.

All we need is to spread the love!
Wow amazing! I think it's really unfair of anyone to judge this man who had the courage to write about his true feelings. Bravo to you! We all must respect all religions as we are all G-ds children. I am Jewish and proud of my religion but love all religions despite what conflicts are going on in my country. I believe if we stop the" brain washing" our children will see the truth and know the truth about Israel. It is the most beautiful and spiritually inclined country may G-d always bless it!

Of course the truth about anything cannot be hidden for eternity even as a pregnant woman cannot hide her pregnancy for 9 months. This is an age where truth shall be revealed and made known to the children of men. This courageous man is just one of a thousand that will make the same confession. May the Holy One BLESSED IS HE protect you from any harm that may arise due to this..........

Yes, I have stood and will stand with Israel
I have love Israel and the Jewish people since I was a child. I was blessed to visit there 22 years ago and have been passionate about those great people and their beautiful state since then. I pray for her peace constantly because I understand the great love God has for Israel and His chosen people. God will curse those who come against her.
(27) Anonymous, April 29, 2012 9:00 PM
As long as children are taught to hate Jewish People and Israel, the hatred will continue. Only through education and person to person experiences will we begin to be tolerant and respectful to each other.
(26) chaya, April 29, 2012 8:22 PM
your calling
it is a wonderful thing when your mind is opened to the truth. i believe you have found your calling in life. please continue to share your story with muslims, especially young people, so that their minds may not be poisoned by this senseless hatred. you are making the world a better place.

The power of facts and ideas
If a book can make the difference, then here are some essentials The Rape of [Jewish] Palestine by William B. Ziff The Forgotten Ally by Pierre Van Paassen Battleground:Fact and Fantasy in Palestine by Samuel (Shmuel) Katz From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters A Place Among the Nations (or A Durable Peace) by Benjamin Netanyahu There are more, but if you get any or all of these you will easily be one in ten thousand in your knowledge The Jews and the Arabs have the same claim, except that one is truth and the other lies, one is right and the other wrong.
(24) Suzanne, April 29, 2012 7:22 PM
I have often been told ....
"that you can fool some of the people, some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time". Kasim Hafeez is one who has NOT been fooled and he is very much to be congratulated for his intelligence, bravery and decency in speaking out. I would just love to know, however, how many more there are like Kasim. With the computer age now allowing for the free exchange of ideas, it would seem logical that there should be many others like him. One can always hope, anyway. Please stay safe, Kasim!

Kazim Hafeez is the 21st century, New Spring man that the world has been waiting for!!!! Hallahllulyah!!!!! He is here!!!! Let us hope and pray that he is the first of many that will follow him!!! Kazim... I support you & your absolute understanding and connection to the God Within you!
(22) Yaakov, April 29, 2012 6:11 PM
How can you be Muslim - it is a fake religion
You seem to be an intelligent man. Why would you still be a Muslim. In the Hadith it says Pharoah and Haman (Purim fame) had a meeting. It cannot be, look it up, they lived over a 1,000 years between them. This is made up religion. Go to www.divineinformation.com and learn the truth. This world is a world of lies and the truth is only beginning to see the light of day.
Anonymous, April 29, 2012 9:15 PM
respect
Mr. Hafeez should be applauded, not scolded. Muslims are not idol worshipers and besides, Jews don't go preaching for people to change their religion. Having said that, Divineinformation is a great site and I would recommend anyone to go.
Susan, April 30, 2012 3:26 AM
Yaakov I why theput down?
Here is a man who has made a turn-around for good, and you go and knock him down. Shame on you.
yehudt, April 30, 2012 6:14 AM
unnecessary attack
Yaakov, this was an unfortunate attack upon a friend of Israel. Even if he remains a Muslim, that, too, is Hashem's plan. For one, who is more convincing to non-Jews than a Muslim ZIonist?! What he needs is our unconditional support, no matter what religion he practices.
(21) Anonymous, April 29, 2012 5:41 PM
Arabs and Jews are semitic, so they are supposed to help each other. Here is someone who've wanted to see the other side intelligently and was able to pen his mind to the true issue, and finally put his blind hate on the side. He should now recommend the reading of Dershowitz to his friends in order to multiply his opinion by thousands.
Tzipporah, April 29, 2012 6:11 PM
No such thing aa SEMITIC
anti-Semitism, hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious or racial group. The term anti-Semitism was coined in 1879 by the German agitator Wilhelm Marr to designate the anti-Jewish campaigns underway in central Europe at that time.
Lynn Squance, April 30, 2012 4:35 AM
Tzipporah, anti--Semitism connotes (suggests) anti-Jewish sentiments as you have written. However, semitism denotes (was and is) in linguistics and ethnology, Semitic (from the Biblical "Shem", Hebrew: שם, translated as "name", Arabic: ساميّ) first used to refer to a language family of largely Middle Eastern origin, now called the Semitic languages, which includes Hebrew and Arabic, among others.. Please check the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic

(17) SOLOMON, April 29, 2012 4:57 PM
there should be a video made and shown on Facebook for all to see and recoginise the truth about Israel
I pray that more people would take the lead to read and discover the high values of Israel, and teach their people the real truth and to benefit from it.
(16) Batsheva, April 29, 2012 4:45 PM
Thank you!
It takes extreme courage and integrity to stand up for Israel these days in your situation. You are a true hero!
(15) Anonymous, April 29, 2012 4:35 PM
Mr. Hafeez, your stand must have alienated many of your friends and relatives, and possibly puts you in danger. There are so many ways that you can help build a bridge between your people and ours- talk to Jews and expose tender points that anger and insult, to work out ways to avoid them; talk to your friends (those that have still remained your friends) and tell your experiences and your hopes for the future. If you speak as you write, there is hope that y ou can make a big difference.
(14) Stephen, April 29, 2012 4:23 PM
Bravo
Congratulations for having the courage to question the world around you listen to the arguments of the other side. We welcome you as a Zionist. It is encouraging that Jews and Muslims may live together peacefully someday. (As you saw, they are doing pretty well in that regard in today's Israel.)

Thank you Kasim Hafeez
Thank you, thank you for your brave stand. People like you are precious friends of Israel and I know well the risks you are taking by standing for the truth. I consider myself a Christian Zionist and proud that I have like thinkers as you. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you.

Integrity, honesty
Reading your article Kasim Hafeez, reassures me of a salvation for our world. So much could be gained if more eyes like yours would be opened! Thank you for standing!

Courageous
It takes great courage to admit that what you have been brought up to believe is false. It takes even greater courage when you are Muslim and this process is about Jews and Israel. I applaud you for having the courage to do this and to write about it. I pray for your safety and hope that one day more Muslims will see the truth and support the State of Israel. Thank you.

Those who bless you will be blessed
Hi Kasim, Thank you for following the truth and speaking out. We need more voices like yours. Even the Jews are too intimidated to speak out for Israel, and often have internalised the lies. Keep up the good work.

well done!!
thank you for your bravery in speaking out! i know how hard it must be for you. if only the terrorists would stop indoctrinating the civilians, the latter would see that all the Jews want is to live side by side in peace. thank you for helping spread the word. it is so important what you are doing, as the world is way more likely to believe you than us.

Good for you! ... as a Christian Zionist who is passionately committed to Israel and her right to exist and flourish, and who believes also in her destiny as a "light to the nations", I want to commend Mr Hafeez ... first of all, for his courage. May the Lord keep you! He is displaying most especially that quality which I pray will be manifested in all his people. What is that? We see it clearly delineated in the Book of 1 Kings, when the Queen of Sheba went to visit King Solomon, to ask him "hard questions" - may G-d give to all this people, whom He loves, the courage and grace to ask the "hard questions" and to desire truth "in the inward parts" like King David, as this man has done. May the Lord reward him for his courage ...

G-d bless him for seeing the truth and voicing it. Not enough people have the courage to do that.

Keep up the good work
I encountered a Muslim woman in a battered woman's shelter (Miklat) in Israel. The details of how or why are not important. She was assigned to sit at my table. The first Friday I explained to her that on a Friday night I do a short ceremony called Kiddush, and if she felt she wanted to miss it, I would understand. I was in the middle of retelling a small portion of that's weeks Parisha when she arrived with her child. We were right at the part where 'Avraham sent away Hagar'. It was a rather strange thing. Here we were, in Beer Sheva, and a Muslim woman sitting at our Shabbat table! The woman had acid burns which required her dressings to be changed daily. And since she had joined my table, I was told to take care of her little boy. The first day as I changed his diaper, it became glaringly obvious he wasn't a Jewish baby. Then when I fed him his bottle, and he stared up with his big brown eyes, long eye lashes, and black flowing curls, I couldn't help but wonder if he would grow up to be a terrorist one day. And as I saw my child hold his little hand, helping him up a climbing frame, I wondered if there would ever be a day when Muslims love their children more than they are taught to hate Jews. The Muslim woman returned that first day and sobbed as she held her baby against her. I had no idea why she cried so much. We became friends over the next few days, and did our chores together. We would joke, and make light of our doing the work allocated us. Then the day that I was to leave arrived. She held me tightly, sobbing incessantly. She explained that she knew that the only reason I landed up in that Miklat was so that she could meet me, and so that she could see that Jews are not monsters. They are kind, gentle, loving and caring people. She mused that the first day she was sure that she would return to find her child murdered by me - because I am Jewish, and he a Muslim baby. And I wondered how a grown educated woman could have got the facts so wrong on Jews!

very brave for speaking up!
I give this man a lot of credit for speaking up and saying the truth about his community. it takes a lot of courage to speak about the wrong doings of you community. There are even Jews (more liberal) who will defend Palestinians b/c they feel presure by the world defend palestinians for fear they will get hurt or be rejected. if only the western journalist would publish this article that would really send a message to the world! I do wish this man well and hope is safe!
