Resolution 181: The Zionist Dream Comes True

In 1947 the UN voted to create an Arab state alongside a Jewish one in what was Mandate Palestine. What happened?

My Surmise

If the Arabs had agreed wholeheartedly, I think we would have reached an accommodation wherein each side had visiting rights to "their" sites in the other's country (similar to the brief quite period after the Six Days' War). But whether the Arabs could have agreed and meant it...considering their Islamic orientation: not likely. All in all, better an open hatred than false friendship.

A question, if you please, Dvirah

I read an interview today in Haaretz with Daniella Weiss of the settler movement. She moved to West Bank in the 70's with 10 families and they lived in tents in the hilltop. Now there are hundreds of thousands of settlers in West Bank and she said a 2 state solution is impossible, as was their goal.

All I heard for decades was about the 2 state solution, and was under the impression this was the goal for the U.S. (the U.S. gives Israel 3.8 billion a year, and was a mediator for peace) and for Israel, at least until now it seems with President Trump.

I learned this year PM Netanyahu said at his last election there would not be 2 states on his watch.

I am confused - because what is to happen then to the Palestinians who live in Area C under compete military control for 50 years.

Is the 2 state solution the dream, goal? Daniella Weiss wants all of Biblical Israel for the borders. What is truth.

As I See It

The "2 state" is an imposed solution, an enforced compromise due to contending claims. Generally speaking, the Jews just want a place where we can be Jews without abuse for it, and this is the only place on Earth to which we have a legitimate claim. Being what we are, we are willing to compromise even on this, but compromise does not mean suicide.

Thank you !

I did not know it was an imposed solution. Thanks.

Torah Borders

I would like to see the borders HaKadosh Baruchu revealed to Moshe for the people of Israel. The 1948 borders were not safe for Israel I am happy that the weird "etch-a-sketch" gap is gone and that part of the land is not divided.
