Text of a speech at the Conference on Combating Anti-Semitism
Prime Minister Stephen Harper
Ottawa Canada, November 9, 2010
(See video below)
Two weeks ago I visited Ukraine for the first time.
In Kiev I laid a wreath at Babi Yar, the site of one of the numerous atrocities of the Holocaust. I was left there with much the same impression as I had in Auschwitz in 2008 — that such horrors defy all comprehension.
At the killing grounds of Babi Yar, I knew I was standing in a place where evil — evil at its most cruel, obscene, and grotesque — had been unleashed. But while evil of this magnitude may be unfathomable, it is nonetheless a fact.
It is a fact of history. And it is a fact of our nature — that humans can choose to be inhuman. This is the paradox of freedom. That awesome power, that grave responsibility — to choose between good and evil.
Let us not forget that even in the darkest hours of the Holocaust, men were free to choose good. And some did. That is the eternal witness of the Righteous Among the Nations. And let us not forget that even now, there are those who would choose evil and would launch another Holocaust, if left unchecked. That is the challenge before us today.
Those who threaten the Jewish people are a threat to all of us.
The horror of the Holocaust is unique, but it is just one chapter in the long and unbroken history of anti-Semitism. Yet, in contemporary debates that influence the fate of the Jewish homeland, unfortunately, there are those who reject the language of good and evil. They say that the situation is not black and white, that we mustn’t choose sides.
In response to this resurgence of moral ambivalence on these issues, we must speak clearly. Remembering the Holocaust is not merely an act of historical recognition.
It must also be an understanding and an undertaking. An understanding that the same threats exist today. And an undertaking of a solemn responsibility to fight those threats.
Duty to Take Action
Jews today in many parts of the world and many different settings are increasingly subjected to vandalism, threats, slurs, and just plain, old-fashioned lies.
Let me draw your attention to some particularly disturbing trends. Anti-Semitism has gained a place at our universities, where at times it is not the mob who are removed, but the Jewish students under attack. And, under the shadow of a hateful ideology with global ambitions, one which targets the Jewish homeland as a scapegoat, Jews are savagely attacked around the world, such as, most appallingly, in Mumbai in 2008.
One ruthless champion of that ideology brazenly threatens to ‘wipe Israel off the map,’ and time and again flouts the obligations that his country has taken under international treaties. I could go on, but I know that you will agree on one point: that this is all too familiar.
We have seen all this before. And we have no excuse to be complacent. In fact we have a duty to take action. And for all of us, that starts at home.
In Canada, we have taken a number of steps to assess and combat anti-Semitism in our own country… For the first time, we are dealing with Canada’s own record of officially sanctioned anti-Semitism. We have created a fund for education about our country’s deliberate rejection of Jewish refugees before and during the Second World War.
But of course we must also combat anti-Semitism beyond our borders, an evolving, global phenomenon. And we must recognize, that while its substance is as crude as ever, its method is now more sophisticated.
Harnessing disparate anti-Semitic, anti-American and anti-Western ideologies, it targets the Jewish people by targeting the Jewish homeland, Israel, as the source of injustice and conflict in the world, and uses, perversely, the language of human rights to do so.
The Bruises to Show For It
We must be relentless in exposing this new anti-Semitism for what it is. Of course, like any country, Israel may be subjected to fair criticism. And like any free country, Israel subjects itself to such criticism — healthy, necessary, democratic debate. But when Israel, the only country in the world whose very existence is under attack — is consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation, I believe we are morally obligated to take a stand. Demonization, double standards, delegitimization, the three D’s, it is the responsibility of us all to stand up to them.
There are more votes in being anti-Israeli than in taking a stand.
And I know, by the way, because I have the bruises to show for it, that whether it is at the United Nations, or any other international forum, the easy thing to do is simply to just get along and go along with this anti-Israeli rhetoric, to pretend it is just being even-handed, and to excuse oneself with the label of “honest broker.” There are, after all, a lot more votes, a lot more, in being anti-Israeli than in taking a stand.
But, as long as I am Prime Minister, whether it is at the UN or the Francophonie or anywhere else, Canada will take that stand, whatever the cost. And friends, I say this not just because it is the right thing to do, but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israeli mob tells us all too well if we listen to it, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are a threat to all of us.
Use Freedom Now
Earlier I noted the paradox of freedom. It is freedom that makes us human. Whether it leads to heroism or depravity depends on how we use it.
As the spectre of anti-Semitism spreads, our responsibility becomes increasingly clear. We are citizens of free countries. We have the right, and therefore the obligation, to speak out and to act. We are free citizens, but also the elected representatives of free peoples. We have a solemn duty to defend the vulnerable, to challenge the aggressor, to protect and promote human rights, human dignity, at home and abroad. None of us really knows whether we would choose to do good, in the extreme circumstances of the Righteous. But we do know there are those today who would choose to do evil, if they are so permitted. Thus, we must use our freedom now, and confront them and their anti-Semitism at every turn.
That is the purpose of our intervention today: our shared determination to confront this terrible hatred. The work we have undertaken, in our own countries and in cooperation with one another, is a sign of hope.
Our work together is a sign of hope, just as the existence and persistence of the Jewish homeland is a sign of hope. And it is here that history serves not to warn but to inspire.
As I said on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel, Israel appeared as a light, in a world emerging from deep darkness. Against all odds, that light has not been extinguished. It burns bright, upheld by the universal principles of all civilized nations — freedom, democracy and justice.
By working together more closely in the family of civilized nations, we affirm and strengthen those principles. And we declare our faith in humanity’s future in the power of good over evil.

I was so blown away by this speech. We forget to actively exercise our freedom of speech in order to defend our country. It is very inspiring to hear such truthful words from an individual whose vision of the truth of peace is not distorted. Thank you so much for your defense of the Jewish people and Israel.

Foresight of Canadian PM
You have the words, the understanding of what is going on now against Israel and how it will affect Western civilization altogether. Thank you.
(66) Kirk, May 23, 2011 10:38 AM
Defense of Israel No Matter What the Cost
Israel is not a bauble, an item to be traded by other nations to get something else. Israel is the Root of the legal, moral and religious aspects of Judaeo-Christian and Western Civilization. We will NOT let her fall to the predations of the Philistine wolves or their descendents and allies. To me, a Christian North American, the defence of Israel is every bit as vital as the stance that John F. Kennedy's government took regarding the presence of Russian missiles in Cuba. If Arab nations want to attempt to drive Israel into the sea, then they will have to do it as their own countries melt down in nuclear fire. If Israel dies, Islam dies. Q.E.D.

We are proud to be Canadian
It takes a strong commitment to stand up and be counted for right as Premier Steven Harper has done. We totally agree with his stand and support him fully. We are happy to have him as our Prime Minister. May God bless him, his family and the Conservative Party of Canada.
(64) Media Watch, May 22, 2011 7:32 PM
We are proud of you. PM Harper
PM Harper knows that hatred of the Jewish people spreads. This is underway in Egypt where angry Muslim mobs are murdering Christians and burning churches. Where is condemnation from moderate Muslims and church leaders? Shame on media for failing to support the only democratic country in the Middle East. Let's be honest; if not for oil, Muslim countries would be poor and irrelevant. Muslims will gain respect when they denounce violence and stop teaching youngster to hate. See it on youtube. As long as Muslim leaders preach violence, Islam will be viewed as a group of thugs, not a religion. Calling Allah hu Akbar while murdering innocents is not a religion. Recommend readings by Muslim author Nonie Darwish.

So Good To Hear This Speech
May our Kodesh Baruch Hu bless this Canadian Prime Minister with a very good life for so boldly speaking out for the cause of Israel and the Truth.
(62) Anonymous, May 22, 2011 3:32 PM
Well said PM Harper!
Thank you for your bravery in saying this in public. The world would be a better place if other leaders had the guts to feel and talk the way that you have.

Proudly Canadian and Proudly Jewish!!

Bravo P.M.!
(59) Concerned Torontonian, November 25, 2010 2:45 PM
Yes, the Prime Minister stood up for truth in this case, but that hasn't always been the case
I would first like to say that as a Jewish Canadian, I am very proud to see that the Prime Minister is standing up for my ancestral homeland, and by virtue of that, my people. He is standing up for good, against evil in that region of the world (emphasis on 'that region of the world'). But, let us not go so far as to say that by standing up for our country, that means that he is above the political fray, and does not act like any other political leader. At the synagogue I go to, we said a prayer for the righteous, and the Prime Minister was included in our prayers this week. I won't lie, I found that a little disturbing. Here is why. When Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo won the Nobel Prize a few months ago for standing up for the principles of freedom and democracy against a tyranical government, and his wife was subsequently put under house arrest, the Prime Minister barely muttered a peep. There was no wide-spread condemnation of ethnic or political discrimination and a general curtailing of rights in China. As many readers will already allude to, the reason for this is the old political formula - friends are friends if they have something to offer. We have billions invested in the Chinese economy, and the Prime Minister in this case did not necessary stand up for what was right, but rather for what was in our economic interest. I would just like to say to all Jews - before you glorify the Prime Minister and praise him for what he has done for us, look at his actions towards others as well. As Jews, we don't just care about our own welfare, but for the welfare of all those in the world, and making it a better place - tikkun olam. That is a foreign concept to politcians unfortunately - even Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Well done!, Mr Harper
I only hope that David Cameron might be so forthright.
(57) TMay, November 23, 2010 3:14 AM
Please note
Please note that PM Harper is a conservative in Canada, on the right, and he supports Israel. The conservatives in Canada are the equivalent of the GOP in the US. Please see my comment following the article on Aish.com entitled "Canadian Campus Crisis". How long are Jews going to continue to vote Democratic and continue to support Pres Obama and continue to support Clinton when they are stabbing Jews in the back? What will it take? An atom bomb in your back yard? It is time to ask the question: "just how stupid are Jews?" Others are looking and asking.

Congratulations to PM Harper
We Are with you Prime Minister Harper! Keep up the BRAVERY! You are one in a million and deserve our respect!!!! thank you. U.S. Citizen---naturalized
(55) R.W.R., November 21, 2010 5:15 AM
As a Canadian, I have often been dismayed and embarrassed by Mr. Harper's government and stances. This, however, is a very welcome departure from that. I am pleased he was willing to stand up and address these things in the full view of the international community, expressing support for the integrity of the State of Israel and Jews worldwide. He also touched on criticism of Israel, which I think often is skirted around and uncomfortable for Jews and non-Jews both. We must remember that criticising Israeli government and Knesset policies is not synonymous with being anti-Israel or anti-Semitic. Allowing ourselves to bristle at everything inhibits meaningful and constructive dialogue.
(54) Anonymous, November 21, 2010 12:41 AM
Why can't our President make a similar speach, especially when he has so much more power and influence all over the world? Not only do we have a duty as a Christian nation to speak well and defend Israel, but as the only true democracy and the only nation in the Middle East that is really on our side, and that is surrounded by a bunch of enemies, we can't afford to act neutral towards Israel, let alone threaten them. JR. Ca.
(53) kate coley, November 20, 2010 7:16 PM
Thank G-D for men like this Prime Minister
As an American, I can only say, I wish he were our leader. I am so pleased and grateful for a man like him. May the Lord bless and keep him strong. I am shamed that my country's leadership is so weak and ignorant of all that Israel means to us and the world.
(52) Duncan, November 20, 2010 5:03 AM
Thanks AISH and Thanks Stephen Harper
Thanks AISH for posting the text and the video. I don't know if it was only my doing, but I did send AISH an Email link and the text of our PM's speech. Thank you for posting it all, and for also the video of the speech. Too often Canada's press demonizes Harper for his faults and mistakes, but there was very little praise for this wonderful speech. I'm proud to have him represent me.
(51) Anonymous, November 19, 2010 5:54 AM
What a wonderful speech!
It is about time that a leader and I do not use this term loosely, stands for and promises to attempt to protect the state of Israel. It's a shame other leaders do not take the same stand as this gentleman.
(50) Anonymous, November 18, 2010 10:17 PM
What a breath of fresh air!
What wonderful words and coming from a Prime Minister too. Wish you could talk with our Coalition Government in the UK. May Canada be richly blessed for her Prime Minister's courage and boldness.
(49) sofe zeifeld, November 18, 2010 10:44 AM
God bless this man. He is first of all a man of God, and I am sure has His blessings. In a world where truth, decency and humanity are rare, he is a beacon of light and wonder. Stay strong!
(48) Anonymous, November 18, 2010 2:59 AM
May my leaders emulate you!
Thank you for boldly speaking out your heart! I pray leaders of my country (in Asia) will emulate you and speak out for what is right and just where Israel is concerned. God bless Israel! God bless Canada. God bless my country, too.
(47) John Whitbread, November 17, 2010 6:10 PM
How different the world would be.
How different it all would have been if the worlds leaders had stood up to the lies and tyrrany like Canada's PM from the outset. Where would the extremists have obtained there reassurance? How could they have used our weaknesses and self destructive indulgence against us? How could we have remained asleep whilst they set fire to the beds we slept upon? It is never too late to wake up! We may be carred at this time but we must act upon this courageous and moral man's example. This is not about politics this is about the very stuff of human life. We must shout out the truth until it is heard. We must let our leaders know that we will reward moral integrity and stand with them when they make truth and justice the foundation of their policy and conduct. God bless this man, a messanger of light in a world being engulfed by darkness John Whitbread

Fière d'être Canadienne/Proud to be Canadian!!
I am so proud of our Prime Minister's words right now. I am not a conservative and I don't agree with a lot of his politics but I have to say He nails it this time. He just regained a lot of points in my estime. (I am not Jewish but I love justice)

A politician who makes sense and is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in - WOW! Please visit David Cameron! God Bless you as you stand with His people.

Israel - No matter what the price
I am really impressed by Stephen Harper's words. I hope we will see the fruits of these spoken words.

Thanks Mr. Harper
We Jews treasure our true friends. Thank you Mr. Harper. I feel a little sorry my parents moved away from our home town of Glace Bay NS while I was 10 years old to move to New York.

I love my Prime minister
This guy is the best leader we could ever hope for. He may not be as charismatic as, say Obama, but he is the man! I am so proud to be a Canadian right now. Although this may have cost Harper some votes.
(38) JIM MILES, November 16, 2010 1:18 AM
Israel, we stand on guard for YOU TOO!
What's this? A leader who leads by principles instead of political expediency! Once again, Harper shows that he's head and shoulders above the rest of these moral midgets!
(37) David S. Levine, November 16, 2010 1:09 AM
Pride
Number 26, if you're proud to be Canadian, and you should be when you have such a fine Prime Minister, identify yourself. Why remain anonymous?
(36) J LaLone, November 15, 2010 9:21 PM
Thank you Prime Minister Harper
I am grateful for the Prime Minister's character and his good example. It has been so terribly sad the way so many people, so many leaders fail to stand up for what is right, but do what is expedient for the own selfish desires. It often takes great courage to do the right thing, even in our seemingly simple daily lives. Many cast principles and ethics aside if they must make some kind of sacrifice to do so. Canada is a good neighbor to the world!!!
(35) Anonymous, November 15, 2010 9:05 PM
WOW WOW WOW
I have Never been so PROUD to be a Canuck!!! I am apolitical, however, an HONEST individual in Political Life, who DARES to stand for FACT, and not Opinion, is Miraculous in itself. BRAVO Prime Minister Harper, you are an Unusual example of a Statesman who actually dares exercise Virtue, Honesty, CARE, True Integrity, in the Political sphere. It would behoove all manipulative would-be Public Office Holders to follow your example - a TRUE Miracle!!!!
(34) Aron, November 15, 2010 4:50 PM
Are you all sitting down?...
Despite PM Harper's consistent support of Israel, the majority of Jewish-Canadian voters are equally consistent in their disdain for his Conservative Party. Only a small percentage of Canadian Jews have ever voted for Harper. And--even worse--Jewish writers & politicians are frequent authors of insulting public remarks about him. A while ago the editor/publisher of a Canadian Jewish newspaper actually wrote, on the editorial page, that Harper's support for Israel is but a ploy for Jewish votes. And this in a country where Jews constitute a mere 1% of the population--hardly enough to be considered a voting bloc. Several years ago, on the eve of a federal election, a prominent Jewish Member of Parliament warned about the Conservative Party 's links to "racists & Holocaust deniers." So...how does that grab you?
(33) Denise Rouben, November 15, 2010 4:43 PM
Thank you Honourable Stephen Harper for being brave enough to stand up for Israel and the Jews! I am very grateful to you. Hopefully you will inspire others.
(32) Tzvi Nightingale, November 15, 2010 3:44 PM
JINSA response to Harper
JINSA - The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs wrote the following entitled By Failing Canada, We Failed Ourselves: Thank you, Mr. Harper. Most sincerely, thank you. Now for the American part. Richard Grenell, a former American spokesman at the UN, said U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice "not only didn't campaign for Canada's election but instructed American diplomats to not get involved" prior to the voting. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley declined to directly address Grenell's claims. Asked whether the United States did anything to support Canada, Crowley said, "For that particular seat there was a contested election, and we were present. We voted. And beyond that, I'm not going to comment." Watch out for that. Our vote is one of 192 in the body. When the United States wants the right thing, lobbies for it and argues for it, there are a great many countries that will go where we want to go. But if we decide our vote is worth only 1/192nd of the total, we will be overwhelmed by forces in the body that seek to do us - and our friends - ill. If that is the best Israel can expect from the United States - that we will be present and vote our 1/192nd with Israel on principle - the UN will sink even lower than we thought it could.

Well said Harper
It's heartening to hear a Prime Minister making sence and sopprting Israel against the massive dross and anti-Semitic voices today. Let's hope David (Gaza is a prison camp) Cameron and Obama hear this speech and check their attitudes actions.
(28) Nomlas Fisher, November 15, 2010 8:16 AM
0h! Canada.................
I always get emotional, when singing the Canadian Anthem, "0h Canada", But!! now, even more so! What "Balls",this Canadian Priminister has! a real Mensch! It is Politicaly, unwise to "support" Israel, in the World to day,and the "Arab Lobby",applies enormous pressures,on World leaders,to boycott and undermine, Israel, So! When a World leader, such as Priminister Harper, takes a stand for Israel, that is an Enormous act of Bravery! and the Right thing to do!!!... the Human thing to do! D.J.B. Canda

I have never been so proud of being a Canadian as when I heard this speech.
I have never been so proud of being a Canadian as when I heard this speech. I agree completely with Prime Minister Harper. As Nov 21 approaches, the anniversary of when the Canadian Cabinet of Prime Minister McKenzie King took the decision not to allow any Jewish refugees from Europe (or elsewhere) in 1938 to enter Canada, maybe this declaration from the present Prime Minister will be accepted as an apology and help to lift some of the guilt and shame from our country's history.
(25) DAVID Weeks, November 15, 2010 2:05 AM
Amen!
There is evil in the world, contrary to what many would say. I salute Candida's Prime Minister for his honest words and clear speaking. I would that the president of the USA could demonstrate such moral clarity.
(24) Yaaqov Abrams, November 15, 2010 2:02 AM
Bravo!
How refreshing to hear someone who understands the truth. May G-d grant him success and his listeners the insight to follow him.
(23) Deborah Wood, November 15, 2010 12:53 AM
Not alone
God Bless the PM of Canada. It almost makes me want to move to Canada. I am so ashamed of Obama for taking sides with the Muslims.
(22) Ira Goldstein, November 15, 2010 12:49 AM
Lucky to Have an Ally with Such Strong Conviction
It is rare to see a political leader with such strong conviction for an unpopular position. He is to be commended for standing up for Israel.
(21) Gloria, November 15, 2010 12:26 AM
God bless Canada!
May the God of Israel bless Canada!
(20) , November 15, 2010 12:20 AM
Can he switch places with Obama?
Obama is now demanding more and more from Israel and is currently working to freeze construction for Jews living there. Isn't that called racism? Our American leader is hopeless and cannot be reformed. Maybe I should move to Canada, or even better, Isreal!
(19) Denise Rootenberg, November 15, 2010 12:04 AM
O Canada You Stand on Guard for Me
Canada and Canadians do not like to rock the boat as a rule so it's fantastic to see our PM take such a strong and moral stance. Former politician John Tory lost support for allying himself with us in our attempt to get the same funding for our schools that Catholics receive for theirs so Harper is taking a major risk.
(18) Marilyn, November 14, 2010 11:24 PM
I am very proud and honored for Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his boldness and support for the state of Israel, no matter the consequences. Not only will his words bless him and his family, but his stand for Israel will also bless Canada abundantly. God Bless you!

Finally!!!! Stephen Harper more power to you!!!!!!
(16) Mickey Oberman, November 14, 2010 10:48 PM
The world's only true leader.
Harper has more courage, more decency and is more honest than any other of today's world leaders. History will prove him to be Canada's greatest Prime Minister by far. In fact, he is the only leader in the world today. All the rest of those so called "leaders" are subject to either one or more of paralyzing fear, insatiable greed or unrelenting anti-Semitism.
(15) Gary Katz, November 14, 2010 10:48 PM
He's no Jimmy Carter, that's for sure...
The funny thing is, when you hear someone of such prominence so unequivocally take this position, you just KNOW that, in general, he's a good guy.
(14) Harvey Rogers, November 14, 2010 10:12 PM
Correct analysis
Honest Reporting of Canada too often reports Canadian dishonesty regarding Israel. I have recently responded to one of those shameful reports and asked why there were so many plainly dishonest Canadians guilty of lies and distortions regarding Israel. I am overjoyed to know that the Prime Minister of Canada has a correct view regarding Jews and Israel and is willing to speak out. The European Union is particularly harmful to Israel, so a balancing from this side of the ocean is vital. Anti-Semitism is a form of insanity as it requires a denial of reality. A look at reality makes clear that in order for one to be anti-Israel because one is anti-Semitic, one must deny reality. When the wartime prime Minister of Canada said that admitting no Jewish immigrants was, "one to many" how correct was he? A realistic review of the Jewish contributions to Canada and their hidhghly beneficial effects on Canadian life makes it clear how wrong he was. It"s great the current Prime Minister is trying to counter what he saidand did. I recently re-read "A History of the Jews," by Paul Johnson and he pointed out that Universtiy mthat led to the mass murder of not only innocent, but highly beneficial Jews by Nazi Germany, He rightly sees that as a danger in Canada. I wish the Jews who style themselves as "Liberals" and "Progressives," could think as clearly as the Prime Minister. I hope all rational Canadians will give heed to the Prime Minister's message. Harvey Rogers

Canada has a lot of work to do
Good for Prime Minister Harper for taking a stand. Lets see if any of this translates into action. Is campus life going to improve for Jews? Will Canada finally label my childrens' Canadian passports with their birthplace as "Jerusalem, Israel" rather than just "Jerusalem" with no country mentioned?
(12) Naomi, November 14, 2010 8:38 PM
Thank you!
Thank you, Prime Minister Harper . . . I am proud to be a Canadian and thank you for showing us how to stand and shine our lights into the darkness of the campaign of demonization, double standards and delegitimization against Israel that is feeding the current resurgence of anti-semitism in our world.
(11) Vivien Christian, November 14, 2010 8:29 PM
Where are the other courageous world leaders?
Oh, if only! Stephen Harper is to be commended for his brave stance but, oh, how I wish that all the other Prime Ministers/Presidents of the world, especially ours here in New Zealand. were also brave enough to stand up for Israel and its right to exist. Israel is God's wife and the apple of His eye and has a God-given right to exist. No other country would stand for the interference to its existence that Israel suffers - from its supposed 'friends'.
(10) John D. Martin, November 14, 2010 8:18 PM
Kudos
I am roud to have Mr. Harper and those who salute him here as neighbors to the north, and pray that my own country would soon have a head of state who is just as forthright instead of the current apologist for Hamas and their vile ilk.

Bless our Prime Minister!!!
We have never been so overwhelmingly PROUD of our Prime Minister!!! He has many enemies. Please remember to Bless him in your Prayers, and our country, as we pray for the Peace of Jeruselem! May the whole world see God's blessing poured out on Canada as we stand united with YOU!!

Trully Brave
It's wonderful to see that there are brave men who stand up for their principles and defend those that need defending. Anti-semitism should be a cause for everyone, as one injustice leads to many. Long live Israel!

Canada: no more than thank you
Prime Minister: In this cloudy world, a shiny spark of hope comes out to comfort those who from time to time are losing their fate in those in power. Thanks for your words of balance and right spirit.

Proud Canadian
I am a proud Canadian. Prime Minister Harper is among the few leaders who unconditionally supports Israel and is clearly opposed to anti-semitism in this world .

I can't believe that Canada is the only country who will openly stand with Israel, though brings hope that there is one who is not afraid to stand. "...they will prosper who love thee". May it be so. From the St. Louis until now... may we not repeat our mistakes, but learn and vigorously do what is right. God bless Canada and all who stand for Israel. It is not that we stand against other nations, but it is imperative to stand with Israel. How I wish that the U.S. as a whole, had the same heart.

The world is forunate Srephen Harper is a leader
We are fortunate to have such a principled, moral leader in the world as Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada. His understanding of the obvious truths about antisemitism is something that needs to be taught to other world leaders. Please send this article and video to the leaders of your country -- so that they can see there is a leader who has the backbone to stand up for what is right -- even thought it may cost him votes.

Stephen Harper A Great Leader and a Good Man
Thanks for taking a courageous and righteous position on this issue, Prime Minister Harper. You are a true friend of Israel and the Jewish people. Thanks for your resolve in the face of evil. Evil succeeds where good men do nothing.
