On Monday evening, the news we were all fearing was released: the bodies of the three kidnapped teens were found in a shallow grave in an open field in Halchul, just north of Hevron. The Hamas terrorists apparently shot them shortly after the kidnapping.
The Jewish people united in prayer and performance of mitzvoth in an unprecedented manner. We truly felt like one family.
And now we are united, mourning with the families of Naftali, Gilad, and Eyal.
Readers can post their message of condolence to the families in the comment section below, and we will deliver them to the families.

(343) Rita-Rivka Lewy, July 4, 2014 7:05 PM
I go on with my life, but nothing is normal..my heart is so sore. My eyes return to weeping again and again, in making a bracha in their memory, in imagining the unimaginable, in having nightmares about my children, in feeling SO united with all of our people, in wanting to embrace the families with love and caring across the world, in hearing amazing stories of what people have done to elevate themselves and pass the merit to the 3 kedoshim, now in the eternal and brilliant light of Hakadosh Baruch Hu..
I can't remove the lawn sign with their pictures, so at least for the week of shiva, I drape my black skirt over it in mourning...
May we only strengthen our connection to Hashem and Klal Yisrael, one person at a time - no BUTS..just love.. May our Ahavat Yisrael and humanity always win out, and our midot tovot blossom..
In achdut and shalom, Rita-Rivka

Here with you
To the families of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali,
When it was the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit, I was too young to remember or really feel the pain.
Now I truly feel connected. I feel like your sons are my brothers and I truly cried for them to come home, safe and sound. I sincerely davened for them. When I heard the news, I was shattered. My brothers are gone.
Mothers, you are a true inspiration to Klal Yisroel. Your unending faith and belief that Hashem would look after, protect and bring back your sons is truly inspiring. Thank you for helping me to get through those 18 days with your emunah.
I took on a mitzvah in your sons merit and now for their neshamos I am carrying it on.
May Hashem console you, know that all of Klal Yisroel are behind you as you go through this incredibly difficult time.
Our hearts are with you in Israel. May we merit to see Moshiach together very soon, when all of Klal Yisroel will be united once again.

(334) Devorah Rems, July 3, 2014 4:50 PM
Your Pain is Our Pain
When I heard the news Monday night, I just sat there and cried and cried. I raised a daughter and two sons and the thought that criminals could just snatch them off the street and shoot them because they are Jews, is just beyond my comprehension. It is extremely difficult for a Culture of Life to have to function and live side by side with a Culture of Death. Eyal, Gilad, and Naftali were killed by a people who believe in death. G-d does not live in that Death, but only lives in Life. It is profoundly sad that these three beautiful young boys have been deprived of their G-d and their future. My heartfelt prayers go out to you all in this time of tremendous sorrow. I was thankful that I could be part of a Service yesterday in order to make Kaddish for them.
Please know that you are not alone.

Commiseration in mortal agony of spirit
I have suffered bereavement and know the bitterness of grief: death of a loved one is the abomination of desolation, a trackless wilderness of the spirit. Yet love is utterly indestructible, stronger than death and is made stronger by death. I have been praying for you with all my heart and the love and prayers of everybody here in Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation go out to you now.

A non-Jew from Germany
Even this horrible crime doesn't silence people who think that it is the fault of Israel. I am fed up with stupid anti-Zionism of people who are to lazy to study the roots of the confllict. I feel with all the mourning people. May God help Israel!

Beloved families of the Kedoshim Eyal, Naftali, and Gilad, Hy"d,
You have given us so much strength, and now may your tefillos and the tefillos of so many who are praying for you give you chizuk in this time of such great sorrow.
As in thousands upon thousands of others houses, a lot of special tefillos were said in our home. On each of the three Shabbosos since the abduction, I said the entire sefer of Tehillim for the zchus of the rescue of the bachurim, With great sorrow this morning, I said the Tehillim shel Yom for the third day of Tamuz for the aliyah of their precious, holy neshamos. May the Riibono Shel Olam comfort you beyond what we limited humans can do.

A Holy Thought
http://jerusalemchannel.tv/heartbreak-israel-christine-darg/
A message of comfort for Israel sent from a friend in the Philippines has touched a cord with a lot of people: “Nothing in life is random. Here’s a holy thought from the meaning of the Hebrew names of the three murdered youths: ‘Be strong and courageous, in HaShem is power and might (Eyal). Your wrestling/struggles will soon end (Naftali). Soon, you will enter His eternal joy (Gilad).

We have united with you in mourning and grieving the senseless loss of your boys/young men, I have Jewish heritage and feel deeply along with your loss of beautiful sons!!! Know we are for you and deplore what was done to these three young men. The violence has to stop, tell us how we can pray for you, or anywhay we can all band together to make this endless terror stop with these crazed killers....May you know this has banded us all together for you and know something will happen good thru all this tragedy...bless you and shalom in your deepest time of sorrow and gried...much love from the USA
(213) Andrew Stiller, July 1, 2014 5:08 PM
Their memory should be for a blessing
To lose a child goes against the natural order of life. When those children are murdered, the loss becomes a tragedy. My first reaction at hearing the news was anger and outrage. But that is not how I will honor the memory of these three boys. Instead, in their names, in their memories, I will strive to do mitzvot, fight against injustice, and try to allow love to overrule hatred. My deepest heartfelt sympathies to you all. When one Jew dies, it is as if we all lose a piece of our hearts. May you be comforted with all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
(212) Pamela, July 1, 2014 5:08 PM
it Hurts a lot
My prayer is that the families and friends of Eyal,Gilad and Naftali have the strenghth and courage to endure the vaccum these precious souls have left behind.

I hope that is not insensative but I really worried about that Baruch Dyan Haemes

not insensitive but uninformed
When you read the transcript of one of the murdered boys cell phone call to the police, you'd know that they were indeed tortured. Thankfully not for long, if that gives you comfort. Please watch what you say though. Every second since their capture was pure torture to them! They weren't unconscious when beaten and shot to dealth.

May Hashem comfort you among all the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim
Mother:
I speak to you from this Garden,
Mother
though you do not hear my voice
I speak to you from a place
that is High,
and pure
I speak my heart
to yours
though my words travel
not
through earthly sound
or bonds
but by the angels born
the moment
our sacrifice
was wrought.
If I could tell you,
Mother,
that the sweet songs of the angels
who carry me to this place
and Higher,
are sung in your voice;
your prayers,
your cries
If I could show you
how the light that warms me
Here
and shows me Truth
ignites itself
from the Friday fires
I would watch you kindle
If I could have you know
that what you see before you
is not
a bed, empty
or
a chair, unfilled
within walls
shadow-cast and strange
But is yet a home, and holy;
a sanctuary
where G-d comes to comfort you.
He brings His angels to collect
every cry
every scream
every silent sigh of faith;
He calls you
Daughter.
And I speak now,
Mother,
with no need
of the angel-messengers,
for these words carry themselves
soul to soul,
mine to yours-
I tell you not,
“I love you”
or
“I am with you always”
this, you know.
I tell you only:
it is your cry
that rouses the world,
it is your light
that ignites the world,
it is your prayer
that saves the world.
So cry,
Mother,
and I will ever hearken to your voice;
touch flame to wick,
and I will ever be warmed,
Pray,
and pray,
And I will pray, too,
that when next we speak
soul to soul,
it will be while
standing
face to face,
my Mother.

(193) Devorah Dinah (Diane), July 1, 2014 4:07 PM
My prayers and love are with you
Duing this time before we heard of your dear boys's fates, I admired your courage to speak out to the world. Everyday, I said Tehilliim for them. Now, that we know that our worst fears have happened, know that I am still praying for your families as well as their neshamot. My brother was murdered at age 23, so I can feel your grief so deeply. At the funeral was the only time I saw my father cry. So, know that I feel your pain deeply. I also have dual citizenship as does my son who lives in Israel with his wife and my young granddaughters. Although I am back in the US, know that all Jews are one nation and feel your pain as one family. I am embarrassed that the US govt. didn't do more to help. Hashem be with you as your boys are now with Hashem and may their memories be a blessing to all of the family of Israel no matter where we currently reside. I send you love and hugs and continue to keep your families in my prayers. May we all do mitzvot in memory of your sons so that they may live on in our good deeds and chesed.
(192) Jan White, July 1, 2014 4:05 PM

(185) Chaim, July 1, 2014 3:47 PM
Dear Families,
How can one comfort mourners of a tragedy of such cosmic proportions? How does one find the words to express what we are all feeling? But something must be said to send the message that we are here, that we are mourning with you. The collective pain that the Jewish nation feels now is indescribable. Numbing. we cry for the spilling of innocent blood. We cry for the pain the families feel each time they view the empty chairs and beds of their precious children. We cry for the deafening silence of the nations of the world. And most of all, we cry for the Tzar Hashechina - the pain that Hashem feels for the suffering of His chidren.
May Hashem comfort the families and all of Israel, and may we merit to witness the final redemption speedily in our days.
(184) Victoria Bingham, July 1, 2014 3:41 PM
We cry with you
Dear Mother and Father of 3 young men, My family cries with you. What happened to your families matters to the whole world. Senseless killing impacts the family of man. So sad! The whole world has to share this pain.
No word is strong enough to describe the shock and the pain that still another act of barbarism is thrown upon the most human people on the planet.
We are forever with you. G.. Bless you.

Dear Iris Teshurah, Bat Galim and Rachel Devorah, My heart is in heavy sorrow for all of your losses of Eyal, David Michael and Yaakov Naftali. I davened for them and took upon to refrain from a middah that was difficult for me. The holy faces of your sons helped me to keep focus. My intent is to continue.in the service of HaKodesh Baruch Hu in your son's zechus. Your sisterhood that was displayed on public media continues to inspire the Jewish world and non Jewish world. It has facilitated changes in Jews for their spiritual improvement. We share in your suffering as klal Yisroel.

Condolences
I am so sorry for your loss, and it is the world's loss too. Unlike many previous crimes against humanity perpetrated by barbarians against Israeli and Jewish innocents, these boys gained international attention. Inexplicably the mainstream American media did not ignore this atrocity. The boys could have been anyone's sons and in that way they are. That we civilized lovers of life must live among bloodthirsty savages in Israel and on the earth anywhere is a dear price to be paid for living the lives God means for us. Thus no amount of jaw jaw can substitute for the war war necessary to outfight and out last that culture of hate. May you find peace. May God see that justice is done.
(169) Maria reed, July 1, 2014 3:14 PM

On the contrary it can be traced to the very ones (controlled by the Cabals) who gassed a people in Syria putting the blame on the Syrians, those western controlled thugs,of god haters whose gods are the many hand carved alters figured in the Freemasonic Israeli supreme court- The spirit of division, destruction

whats wrong with us?
I've just finished skimming through the comments below and I didn't see one mention of revenge? It's very commendable that we all said tefillos and lit candles and made early Shabbos. Are we so soft that we can't beg for revenge? Some will say it's not the proper time.....it's always the proper time when we are dealing with the lowest form of humanity. Please G-D, make them pay!

So much hope, shattered into smitherines....
We were a people, one, unified, fortified, strong in our unity no matter what age, background or religious affiliation
Together we longed for the return of our brothers, our sons
It is a loss for all of us
A great, tragic loss
Human lives bursting with potential
Taken away, so cruelly, so unjustly
What comfort do we have? Where can we turn for consolation?
Hashem has a plan that we are so far from comprehending
This pain is so strong
Hashem ikom daman

My heart, like that of all Jews, is broken. And I can't begin to understand your pain. But think about the beautiful parade awaiting your sons in Shomayim. The tears, prayers, tehillim, mitzos, tzedkah, maa'sim tovim that accompany theim. And they went Al Kiddush HaShem! May this bring you comfort.

How senseless.
Like many friends of Israel, I prayed for the safe return of these three much loved children of God. I know prayers are not always answered as we might wish and I grieve for their parents and the much wider family of all who love Israel.
The cowards who did this and those who revel in Israel's loss will have to find a way to live with this disgusting disgrace.
Wake to glory, beloved children.

The only comfort I can even begin to imagine for these families is this: Today, these young men are with their Father in Paradise. A Pardise we all dream of and spend our lives working to achieve. In times like these there is neither Gentile nor Jews but a world of people whose hearts are breaking.

To the dear families of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali,
There are no words to express the deep sorrow and anger we all feel. It is an unfathomable grief that you must be going through right now, and our thoughts and prayers are with you always. I know nothing I can say can make this any easier for you, but please know that all of Klal Yisrael are mourning with you.
You have epitomized the strength of the Jewish people over the past few weeks and it is my prayer that HaKadosh Baruch Hu comfort you all at this terrible time. May you remain steadfast in your faith and your strength.
You are an inspiration to us all.
I pray that this tragic event should not be in vain: that all of Klal Yisrael should unite and become one nation again as we mourn this devastating loss, and we will see the coming of Moshiach speedily in our days. Of course, this doesn't lessen the immense pain you are experiencing, and my heart goes out to you.

To the Families:
To the families of the greatly beloved boys, Naftali, Gilad, and Eyal:
I am so sorry for what happened to your precious and beloved sons. We all pray that HaShem will lovingly comfort you all in this time of great, great need. He is there by your side to comfort you--and as a Father, know He does not take lightly what happened to your sons. For they were also His sons--and justice will be served to those who ruthlessly killed your sons just because they were Jews.
And you also have the comfort of all of Israel--who has been there, also by your side, in praying and in mitzvot to HaShem that the boys may come home. And now in this tragic time, we will all continue to be by your side as well, and pray for your comfort and we will always remember your precious sons.
Truly we are one big Family, and your boys are our boys as well. You are in our tefilot--and we will fight for justice, all the more. We feel the pain of their death, and cannot imagine the suffering you are feeling. But HaShem is here to comfort you, All Israel are here to comfort you, we are right by your side.
We are sorry for what happened--but we give all our condolences to you, and tefilot to HaShem on your behalf.

There are no words. I think all of Klal Israel feels like we lost our children too. There are nothing to say to comfort a mourning parent/sibling. Your boys did so much to bring the Jewish nation together - to raise us up to levels of achdus we never thought possible. Their memories should be a blessing forever and ever. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion. With a broken heart, sending you love. Shellie

With greatest sorrow my condolences to the 3 families.
We are a small nation which has survived and thrived since
the biblical times. One day Hamas and all of the terriorists
groups will be gone as welll. Please Hashem as the souls of the 3
teenagers rise, let the families mourn, find peace and
solace to know that the world to come is a better place.

My heart is broken.I kept it together today but I am finally letting myself weep. I have three boys and these boys could have been mine and in fact we are part of one another's families as part of Klal Yisrael. .
Please G!d, embrace their families and loved ones of Naftali, Eyal, and Gilad. Stronger than death, stronger than hate is Love which is truly Your light shining manifest here on earth. May the families be comforted by that Love and Connection that cannot be broken...

HaMakom
To my dear sisters, I was crying today when I picked up my young children from camp. As I broke the news to them, I felt as bewildered as they did. I told them what Racheli Frenkel reportedly told some children: If ch"v there is a bad outcome please don't feel that Hashem didn't listen. I told my girls that Gilad, Eyal & Naftali are now in the highest places in Gan Eden, because they died al Kiddush Hashem, simply because they were Jews. We can't understand, we can't ask why, but please know that a 6 year old & a 9 year old and their parents are crying along with you. We have a brachos chart on our wall with your boys' names. We were saying brachos bkol ram & amen for 'the boys'. Bli neder we will continue- l'iluy nishmasam. HaMakom Yenachem Eschem Besoch Shaar Avelei Tziyon V'Yerushalayim. Baruch Ata Hashem Elo-e'inu Melach haOllam Da'yan haEmet
Dear beloved families, there are no words to express the pain, sorrow and grief on the loss of your precious sons. There's hardly something to say to comfort your unbearably wounded and crying hearts. Still I would dare to ask you to do everything for the world to stay remembering our dear children: write the articles about their lives, publish the books about their worldview, things they cherished, dreams they shared.
When the person leaves this world, there is an emptiness left. The question is what this emptiness is going to be filled with.Your dear sons are very special souls, the souls which bestowed this world with the Abundance of Light: they've brought the nation together, made us stronger and more determined to restore and protect the Land of Israel, they've triggered the chain of awareness of our responsibility for the reality we create around us, they've cleared for us once again the importance of the way of Torah.
The Sages say, that the Souls unite according to their spiritual levels, and so, no earthly death may part us with them all the time we remember what their lives have been sacrificed for:
FOR THE UNITY OF THE HOLY NATION
FOR THE WAY OF HOLY TORAH
FOR HOLINESS OF THE LAND OF ISRAEL
FOR THE HOLY BUILT JERUSALEM
FOR THE HOLY THIRD TEMPLE IN OUR DAYS!
Dear Families,Your Faith and Strength of Will in the face of the Tragedy is the best expression of the Essence of the Jewish Nation, the Nation which being shocked by the cruelty, wickedness and lack of honor and dignity remains on the Highest Spiritual Level ever known to the humanity! The Level which let us having the exceptionally merciful army. The Level which gives us professionalism to continue taking care about Arab patients from Gaza in our hospitals and let the imprisoned terrorists to get the education in our universities! The level which helps us withstand, overcome, grow and flourish in the Name of the Revelation of the Purpose of the Creation.

You have been an inspiration to all of us, and I want you to know I am thinking of you,and will be keeping you in my tefillos. May we never hear of such things ever again. I am so so sorry.

Dear Families of Our Boys,
I am so deeply sorry to hear the tragic news. The unity that the Jewish People have showed these past 18 days is a huge zechut for your sons and your whole family. May Hashem comfort you amongst all the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim, and may we merit to see the coming of Mashiach, when you will be reunited with your sons, in Peace.
(70) MESA, July 1, 2014 12:54 AM
Only we Jews can carry on like this over people we've never met. Mi K'Amcha Yisrael. Naftali, Gilad, and Eyal generated a Kiddush Hashem, and I'm sure that merit will stand for them in the Yeshiva Shel Ma'ala. May we as a nation continue to unite and help each other, and may that be an aliyah for the precious neshamot of our boys.

Such great sorrow...
We followed each press release with prayer to the Almighty, that His truth would be swiftly revealed and He has answered that prayer...Now my prayers continue but for His balm to be applied to the hearts of the families of our precious boys, for "our boys" they became as we prayed as one. In this, as in times past, we became one new man before Him. Shalom be yours in the days ahead; Yahweh Shalom be yours today...Jerusalem, Israel may shalom be always yours; I continually pray for your peace.
The sun will rise with healing in it's wings...

These past 18 days have been hell for us. I was at work when I read the news (I had been checking the updates dozens of times a day) and the tears were just flowing. I can't even fathom returning back to 'normal' life. I wish I was with you in Israel so that we could mourn more close together. I have literally had Eyal and Gilad and Naftali in my mind throughout the day over the past 18 days. I am a mother and the pain that you and your families are in are simply unimaginable. I also want to comment on how inspired I was by the 3 mothers who did everything in their power (so it seemed to me) to raise world awareness, even if it was very against your nature to appear in front of the UN and the Knesset and at the rallies. I was also so touched by Eyal's brother who organized the big prayer group and flew to England on behalf of his loved one. I am sure the other families did similar things (I just know what was publicized Online) and that is very inspiring to me. I very much want to take on a Kabala in their zechus. Ideally it would be something that all of Klall Yisrael would take on together. I am open to ideas. Please suggest. Something very small and not time consuming that all Jews can do forever. To those who can't make sense of this horrific tragedy:
If it's true, if they were killed right away, it makes me wonder. Why would Hashem want us to believe for 18 days that these boys might still be alive? Why not have us find out right away that the three boys were killed on the way home from school? Because then, it would have been an unfortunate story where we heard that three boys were killed on the way home from school. We would say b"de, be sad for a bit and that's it. But we believed for 18 DAYS that they might be alive. We believed that there was hope in retrieving them. We davened with more kavana, we took upon Shabbos earlier, we lit candles for them, people who would never have spoken to each other united in their tefillos. Many took upon themselves extra learning, tzedakah and so much more. The achdus that bnei Yisroel has displayed these past few weeks was unprecedented. So please, take solace in the fact that these boys did not die in vain. They have brought an immeasurable amount of kedusha to this world. Hashem will punish the perpetrators. We have to continue to pray for their neshamos and continue to be b'achdus and continue to grow in our yiddishkeit. Let this not just be a response to a tragic event. Let this be the start of a growth process that will bring bnei Yisroel closer to Moshiach so that a tragedy like this never happens again.
My heartfelt prayers are with the three families, and I will continue to keep what I took upon myself during this past week b"n.
As Rabbi Efrem Goldberg wrote so beautifully, "Let’s not wait to be tested in order to realize the strengths that we have all along." Hashem is sending us messages. It is up to us to see them.
Esther, July 1, 2014 6:02 AM
Thank you for such a beautiful and positive reflection of these tragedy.
Baila, July 1, 2014 2:52 PM
thank you Suri
I have been trying to understand why Hashem allowed us to suffer those 18 days believing that there was something we could do to bring those precious boys back alive to their loving families. Each day they were missing tore at my heart. Their families pain became my pain. I too begged Hashem to protect them, bring them home safe & sound. When I heard the news yesterday, I just broke down, completely devastated! I couldn't understand why if they were to be murdered did Hashem allow us to hope, pray for their survival in vain. Well you answered that question for me beautifully. Thank you!!! I of course will continue to daven with more kavana, do more chessed, be kinder. All the extra things I took on for their safe return. I know that there are no words, no action that can be taken to take away the pain those precious neshamas families are suffering. I just hope that Hashem sends us Moshiach soon so that Klal Yisroel can be reunited with our loved ones who passed before us ending all our suffering! Am Yisroel Chai

It was with great sorrow that we heard the terrible news about Eyal, Gilad and Naftali. They have been in our hearts constantly for these 2 and a half weeks. And you, the brave mothers and families of the boys, will not be forgotten and will remain in our hearts in that place which was made. All of Israel is with you. Yasher Koach.

Our hearts are broken
There only tears. We wish you continued strength. In your strength we find our own. If there is one positive thing to come out of this, may it be achdus so strong that it brings moshiach when all tears will be gone forever.

We mourn with you, we will remember with you
We will never forget your beautiful boys, and will celebrate their lives... we will not just unite with you in mourning, but in remembering who they were. To the families: Thank you for your strength and being an example to the Jewish people!
