My teenage best friend was the late Zishe Twersky ז״ל whose Zeida was the Trisker Rebbe of London, to whom I was very close. At that time we both learned in Gateshead Yeshiva. The Trisker Rebbe’s great grandfather was the Trisker Magid - the מגן אברהם - whose father was Reb Mordche of Chernobyl. The Trisker Rebbe had a Shtibel just a few doors away from where I lived as a young boy, in Cazenove Rd.

Interesting. His father did not have a beard.. And in the old pictures of Chasidim from the 50s - 60s we can see that not everyone had a beard, dressed in a dark suits or wore a black oddly-shaped hats. It seems there have been a large change since not just based on appearance but in other forms as well.
