defend yourself and attack the enemy

Kol Hakavod to Rabbi Szytner for his inspiring message. However, when an anti-semite attacks, you cannot preach the morals of peacefulness and hope to escape unscathed. My suggestion - probably because I am Israeli - teach your students in the yeshivoth Krav Maga and use of weaponry with education of restraint.

A very inspiring speaker.

Fantastic video

I could not agree with you more! Just like with any abuse, the perpetrator wants to the Victim to suffer In silence. We cannot hide, Nor should we! Thanks !

(33) Annette Mandis, July 6, 2021 7:29 PM

I agree wholeheartedly we need to project a strong voice against antisemitism.

Your speech on how to respond to antisemitism is excellent. Your motivational speaking abilities provide hope to many people.

May Hashem bless you and your mishpacha with many simchas,
joyous celebrations of life!

Anti Semitism

Good luck fighting antisemitism by asserting your Jewish identity! It's amazing how American Jewry cannot face the fact that the American game is over!!

Support for Jewish

I truly believe that support for the Jewish community far surpasses the few hate mongers. If the Jewish people had never existed, these same people would find another nationality and culture to hate. Unfortunately, Jewish are dealing with ignorance, jealousy and a myriad of other emotions in people who have little understanding of history and less respect for humankind as a whole. Those of us who love the Jewish people must also come out of hiding and openly embrace our Jewish brothers and sisters and when needed, assist Jewish neighbors, co-workers and friends.

just checking

is the Village Shul in Westwood, LA?

(29) Anna, May 29, 2021 4:23 PM

I absolutely agree with your statement.

(28) Gloria Frisch, May 28, 2021 12:22 PM

You are perfectly right. I am not afraid of showing my Judaism or attending synagogue. Finally, my synagogue is having Services in the building. Tomorrow I will be attending my rabbi's son's Bar Mitzvah - a special young man and a special Rabbi. Shabbat shalom?

(27) Suzy Womelsdorff, May 27, 2021 6:26 PM

Not hiding for those who hate Jews.

I was just praying about doing hesed with joy but returning to my home quietly and quickly. The KKK has a strong influence in my town of Mobile, Alabama USA. They openly recruit in the Walmart parking lot. Everything Jewish is under scrutiny and often openly reviled. I ask Hashem for safety knowing He is my rear guard and has proceeded me in all the days of my life. I study Torah each morning. Thank you for the words of hope. They came in the very moment I was considering isolating myself. Shalom.

(26) Penina, May 27, 2021 4:56 PM

responding to antisemitism by showing up

they tried to bury us. They didn't realize we were seeds.

(22) Dvirah, May 26, 2021 5:23 PM

How did you respond? What did you say to the man?

(21) Rebeccah (Becky) Mark, May 26, 2021 1:22 PM

Don't plan your next trip. Plan your aliyah.

the one line says it all.

(20) Moshe Ginsburg, May 26, 2021 9:59 AM

sometime hiding is necessary. Higher observance is the antidote.

please quote sources for this opinion. In France it's common to walk around with a cap sans yarmulka. it also says הצפינו עצמכם. and hiding Judaism also doesn't help, they hate us as a people not just a Religion. I think the solution is to increase observance, period. Covertly or overtly. It's all a message from Hashem.

Leah Sobel, June 3, 2021 12:06 PM

You are so right Mr. Ginsberg.

The message should always be to increase a stronger connection to G-d and internalize Torah values. That does not mean going to Israel and supporting a secular Zionist state. Jews need to educate themselves thoroughly about Zionist values where they will discover Zionist values is not Judaism. You need to wake up and ask yourself why anti-Semitism has risen it's ugly head. Learn the history of why Hitler Ym rose to power in Germany from a Jewish historical perspective. Anti-Semitism is a message from Hashem delve into it - for if you ignore it unfortunately, it will be at your peril.

Standing with you

Standing together with you in unity with love for Israel and the Jewish people. I'm a Christian brother and am raising my voice in support. Let me know how I can best help! Blommy

Dvirah, May 27, 2021 4:48 PM

Please rally those you can to speak out on Israel's behalf. The more voices countering the lies, the better. Again thanks!

(18) Andrea Hyatt, May 26, 2021 3:39 AM

Jewish Lives Matter

Very important message at a time when the Jewish communities are eerily silent. Elie Wiesel (obm) also said NEVER AGAIN should never be reduced to just a slogan. We need our Jewish leaders to speak up along with our national secular leaders that violence against any group should not be tolerated!! JLM. Jewish Lives Matter too!

(17) Anonymous, May 25, 2021 11:36 PM

Israel is a nuclear armed country and highly technologically advanced . It isn't the Warsaw ghetto and US anti Semetic sentiments have always been there.

(16) Miriam, May 25, 2021 11:30 PM

What if your family get mistaken for being Jewish but are actually some other European minority (Irish traveller, Italian etc)? We still ‘look’ Jewish (whatever that means) but my family were Catholic until WW2 (after which we abandoned the Church and went to other churches). We are super nervous too.

(15) Diana Silverman, May 25, 2021 11:27 PM

The,attempt to cast every criticism as an anti Semetic trophies troubling

Supporting Israel as perfect and above objective criticism is manipulative and another form of stereotyping. Very few Americans are great at studying issues in depth and that is whatever the issue. And the Middle East is complex. But bombing Gaza into the ground and killing women and children is not the way to go. And calling all comments on the situation that do not agree with Netanyahu 's approach cannot be labeled anti Semetic!

(14) Anonymous, May 25, 2021 11:10 PM

Well said

(13) Angelo musicaro, May 25, 2021 7:58 PM

It’s ridiculous that you have to endure such ignorance and hatred!!! God bless you and strengthen you and be a shield around you!!! Many like myself support you you are loved and appreciated!! I pray God raises up another deliverer for his people

(12) Michael Samuels, May 25, 2021 7:43 PM

Am Yisrael Chai!!

I sympathize with you, Rabbi, I had 2 Anti-Semitic encounters, myself! I will keep wearing my kippah whether the Jew haters like it or not!!

(11) Anonymous, May 25, 2021 6:18 PM

G-d bless you over and over! Your words of inspiration are crucial now, and tremendously uplifting. My gratitude is boundless.

How to Respond to Antisemitism

I was so very moved by this video today, 5/25 and want to bring this message to my congregation this Friday night, is there a place where there is a transcript of this message anywhere on ?

(9) rivky p, May 25, 2021 3:39 PM

not quite true

WHile I agree that we must show the world that we are proud to be Jewish I do not believe that is the cure for antisemitism. Anti semites hate those who 'blend in' even more. Hitler searched for and killed Jews who were assimilated for generations. We must tell unaffiliated Jews that they should not feel safe - that they are also hated and attacked.

(8) SUZANNE YACOWITZ DRAGAN, May 25, 2021 2:42 PM

I have my front yard decorated w Israeli & America flags, wear my Mogen David & got a temporary Mogen David temporary tattoo on my arm. Show your pride in being a Jew & stand w Israel!

Rabbi Tzvi Sytner

Rabbi Tzvi Sytner 's wisdom brought tears to my eyes. God's chosen Jews are a holy people that keep the faith and reverance of Torah with love , courage and faith that over the centuries was done at much cost that lead to the miracle of Modern Isreal becouse they kept the faith. My financial support and prayers for the protection and prosperity of God's holy Jews will increase, this becouse God said many times the Jews and ISREAL are his forever and everlasting - to love the Jews and Isreal are to honor and love God

(6) Anonymous, May 25, 2021 2:33 PM

Message received but ...

What should we as individuals do to respond to an individual attack such as yours ? What do we say?

(5) Eitan, May 25, 2021 2:11 PM

"Now is our time to thrive" I love it!

(4) Howard Yagerman, May 25, 2021 12:43 PM

The response to a loud mouthed anti-semite is:shame on you.You call yourself an American?

(3) Isaac, May 24, 2021 9:09 PM

Whenever Jews start assimilating

I’m from USSR. There was huge anti Israel propaganda in schools and on TV. Jewish kids sometimes got attacked on streets. Adults got discriminated against at work. This attitude saved us. We didn’t assimilate. Now, in America, while many of us still know very little about Judaism as religion, after 30-40 years in this country we think of ourselves as Jews first and Americans second. Of course, we are loyal to the US but we know without any doubt that Jews will always, no matter what, be considered Jews first. Whenever Jews assimilate, they get reminded throughout history

Anonymous, June 3, 2021 12:35 PM

You are so right but I very much doubt many Jews will agree with you.

(2) Anonymous, May 24, 2021 8:27 AM

one other response

Thank you Rabbi Sytner for the beautiful response to antisemitism. One thing that I would add is to make aliya (move to Israel). This is an ultimate move in commitment to Judaism and Israel. Yes, it's is hugely difficult (I speak from personal experience), but the reality on the ground is that Israel is our home and the government does everything in its power to protect us.

Education on Antisemitism more

We need to educate EVERYONE.
I feel that we are not educating even the Yeshiva students, as we should.
There is so much more that needs to be done.
Feel free to contact me to discuss
