Years ago, living in London as a graduate student, I confided to a fellow student that I’d been set up on a blind date with an Israeli. “How many Palestinians has he killed?” was his prompt reply.
Equating Israelis with murderers was still a social taboo when this exchange took place. True, there were the occasional anti-Israel marches through the streets, but calling an entire country killers was still considered rude; my fellow student apologized for making such a blatant, racist remark.
As anti-Israel sentiment grows, anti-Semitism is rising throughout the United Kingdom.
No more. Over the past several years, being anti-Israeli has become more and more the mark of a civilized person in Britain; opposing the Jewish state is increasingly a sine qua non, an essential hallmark, of being a considered “moral” person in Britain. And as anti-Israel sentiment grows, anti-Semitism is rising throughout the United Kingdom.
Biased Media
Britain’s press has treated the current war in Gaza not just as another piece of world news, but as something utterly unrivalled in its scope or horror. Blanket coverage and biased reporting have ensured that Israel is uppermost in the minds of people throughout the United Kingdom.
Israel ranks fifth in the list of countries covered by the Guardian, the influential British newspaper, whose Associate Editor said Israel “has no right to defend itself” and claimed as his personal goal the spreading of “revulsion” against Israel around the world at an anti-Israel rally in London in August, 2014. Britain’s Sky News characterized Israel’s goals in the Gaza war as “smashing and maiming, dismemberment and mass grief” and compared Israel’s actions to the bombing of Dresden and nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Over at Channel Four, all pretext of impartial reporting was abandoned when veteran journalist Jon Snow cried on camera as he spoke of visiting children in a hospital in Gaza. “I can’t get those images out of my mind,” he said. “I don’t think you can either, because they’ve been everywhere. They are the essence of what is happening in Gaza.”
Of course, to an objective reporter it is Hamas’ provocation by firing thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians and its cynical use of human shields – Hamas headquarters are located in the basement of the Al-Shifa hospital that Mr. Snow visited – that are the “essence” of what is happening in Gaza. Mr. Snow, however, erroneously reported that none of Hamas’ rockets have hit Israel.
BBC's bias is legendary. This lack of context – in which Israel is seen as a bloodthirsty aggressor – often echoes classic anti-Semitic themes. The Guardian defended its decision to run a cartoon portraying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu controlling British Prime Minister David Cameron as a puppet, even though it evokes the anti-Semitic canard that powerful Jews somehow control world leaders. An infamous cover of The New Statesman magazine depicted a Jewish star piercing a Union Jack, the British flag, under the headline “A Kosher Conspiracy”? Even the Lancet, the prestigious British medical journal, depicts Israel as a murderous provoker, calling Israel’s measured response to thousands of rockets being launched from within civilian sites in Gaza “the creation of an emergency to masquerade a massacre” of innocent women and children.
Such images have an effect. 41% of Britons say their opinion of Israel has worsened because of the current Gaza conflict, and more than half feel Israel has acted disproportionately.
Media messages and provocative statements also create an atmosphere in which egregious statements receive little or no protest; these in turn enter the public dialogue and further degrade people’s opinion of Israel. When Britain’s National Union of Students, in an emergency session called to debate the Gaza war, voted to boycott Israel, a member erroneously stated “Palestinian students are tortured and imprisoned” in Israel: in the echo chamber created by such anti-Israel rhetoric, no allegation is too outlandish to repeat.
Anti-Israel Rallies
Simplistic, one-sided views of Israel have also been on display in the massive anti-Israel protests in Britain’s cities this summer where Israel is slandered as the sole obstacle to peace, and routinely compared to Nazi Germany. Protestors in London waved signs saying “Well done Israel – Hitler would be proud”. Many placards are provided by Britain’s “Stop the War” coalition, which accuses Israel of bizarre, horrific crimes such as deliberately “slaughtering” pregnant women. Some protestors have chosen to identify with Hamas. Ignoring Hamas’ brutal imposition of Islamic law, its execution of political opponents, refusal to hold elections, its sending of thousands of rockets into Israel, and miles of terror tunnels dug in order to carry out attacks, protestors this summer have shouted “We are all Hamas” at rallies in front of Britain’s parliament and Israeli embassy.
Increasingly, anti-Israel sentiment is gaining official sanction. MP George Galloway declared that Israelis are not welcome in his constituent city of Bradford; MP Nick Ward, representing Bradford East, tweeted “if I lived in Gaza would I fire a rocket? – probably yes”. In Scotland, prominent figures have come out strongly against Israel: activist Yvonne Ridley has declared her intention to make Scotland a “Zionist-free zone”. Her message came ahead of decisions by governments in Glasgow and Fife to fly the Palestinian flag over official buildings in solidarity, a Glasgow spokesman said, with the “innocent victims” of Gaza – but not the innocent Israelis killed and terrorized by Hamas rockets. Scotland’s Deputy First Speaker Nicola Sturgeon has also come out as an opponent of Israel, speaking at an anti-Israel event in Scotland.
Sainsbury managers ordered their entire kosher freezer section to be removed.
Anti-Israel protesters are now using bully tactics to create an economic boycott. When protestors gathered outside a Sainsbury’s supermarket in Holborn in central London on Saturday, August 16, 2014, calling for a boycott of Israeli goods, managers ordered their entire kosher section to be removed. A shopper who confronted asked why was told “because we support a free Gaza.” It wasn’t the first time a store gave into anti-Israel protestors: Ahava, an Israeli beauty company finally closed its Covent Garden location in 2011 after years of anti-Israel demonstrations outside its store, and 2014 saw the closure of Brighton’s Sodastream outlet after similar protests, and the decision by John Lewis to stop selling the company’s products. The Tricycle Theatre in London dropped – and then reinstated – its support for the annual UK Jewish Film Festival. The Israeli group Incubator was forced out of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (though it eventually performed in Glasgow, Leeds and London).
British Jews
Anti-Semitic attacks have skyrocketed.
Attacks on Jews in Britain haven’t reached the levels seen in France, where synagogues have been besieged and Jewish-owned stores firebombed. But anti-Semitic attacks have skyrocketed. July 2014 was the second worst month since records began, logging 240 anti-Semitic incidents in one month alone. Paul Morron, President of Glasgow Jewish Representative Council, has said “the level of anxiety is quite unprecedented.” That sounds like a typically reserved British way of saying that the community is beginning to question its very future in Britain. A poll conducted by the Jewish Chronicle found that nearly two thirds of British Jews are questioning their future in the United Kingdom.
British Jews are fighting back, though. Pro-Israel rallies are flourishing throughout the UK, and British communal life is thriving. Perhaps the best way to counter the negative feelings about the Jewish state is to embrace what is being attacked: to engage in Jewish life, to use Jewish and Israeli products, to remain strong in our commitment to Jewish life around the world and especially in Israel, the Jewish state.
With anti-Semitism on the rise around the world, what responses do you think people should make? Share your ideas in the comment section below.

If those anti-semetic and anti- Israel Brits are so keen to boycott Israel made products, lets see how well the country works when all their Israeli made products are withdrawn! These products include life saving technology,High tech innovations and many more. I wonder how many Anti-Israel Brits are even aware that they use our products on a day to day basis. Brits, go and google which Israeli products are used in Britain and just say thank you.

DENY the use of Israeli products
I would like to see the expansion of the topic that has been used sparingly. I/E. the "reverse boycott"..denial of the use of any products created by Israeli engineers and electronic and medical experts...the list is long and impressive. I know it is more a figure of speech, but it tells a great story of a country that has made the world a better place for all it creative ideas..it seems to me a powerful antidote to all the derisive press. Then, ask for all the accomplishment of Hamas...it's export of terror, its creation of ways to use its women and children as human shields, its expertise at building tunnels, its unique ability to hide its administrators as it exposes its population without shelters, to say nothing of its exceptional use of the big lie. We need a bigger and better PR plan!

BRAVO John Lewis and Co.
900 Arab workers working for Sodastream have lost their jobs thanks to the boycott of their products the firm has closed down their factory . These workers were working under the same conditions as their Jewish collegues and glad to be in a regular job.
Israel doesn't need to sell oranges etc. to survive so your boycotte is hitting Arab workers .

When things get hot - get out, you have somewhere to go
Jeremiah 32:37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place (Israel), and I will cause them to dwell safely. 38 They shall be My people, and I will be their God;" -- Amen May it be so

A call to all Jews in Diaspora
In my humble opinion, all of these troubles are a call for Jews to "come home to Israel". it;s the reverse exodus spoken of by the prophet Jeremiah in 23:3 “But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase." May it be so in our lifetime.

It's Time To Come Home
How bad does it have to get for Jews living in countries around the world? Do you actually have to 'see' the trains?
If you can't 'hear' them, what makes you think 'seeing' them will shatter the blindset of your minds?
Can anyone, in light of current world 'history', really be that naive?
'Hearing' the trains is portent enough for me. If I could make aliyah, I would go now - even in the midst of the current 'conflict', I would go. I would rather die in Israel, than live without her.
Hate spreads like a fire gone wild. It smolders and smokes - it warns.
Do not delay. Heed the lessons of the Holocaust. It's time to go home.

All true but Ms. Miller is naive to think and state that anti-Israel lies are said 'erroneously - there is no error just lies and despicable hate-filled bias.
Good piece but is Ms. Miller so naïve as to believe that veteran Channel Four News presenter Jon Snow 'erroneously' commented that the images of Palestinian children in a Gaza hospital were 'the essence' of what was going on, Mr. Snow knows that hamas started this war and deliberately place its civilians in harm's way so as to generate the images broadcast around the world by hamas' proxy messengers the media. Hamas claims both 'victory' and victimhood. The UK National Union of students did not err insaying that Palestinian students are tortued and imprisoned in Israel - the NSU lied. Please Ms. Miller wake up, see the reality of anti-Jewish hate in a modern western European country whose citizens fear Moslem terrorists not the non-existent Jewish 'terrorists'. Lastly I wonder if Ms. Miller is aware of The Independent's editorial about the Gaza operation, which declared that "Israel can now be reasonably described as "a community of child killers" ( recently reported in Ynetnews.com by commentator Mr. Yemini). Yes, reasonable people can describe Israelis and by extension its supporters, including Jews around the world, as "child killers" This is the medieval blood libel as dispensed by the media; the media are the modern pulpit from which anti-Jewish hatred is spewed to the masses.. NO wonder that acts of violent anti-Semitism are rising across Europe, If there is a silver lining it is that Europe's Jews are seriously considering emigrating to Israel as seen particularly with French Jews. Some people might say 'God works in mysterious ways'.

Anti-Israel is Anti-Semitism
Israel is home to 47% of Jews, worldwide. Thus it is impossible to be "Anti-Zionist but not Anti-Jew." It has been my experience it only takes a little prodding of an Anti-Israel activist for them to digress into an Anti-Semitic rant ...their true feelings are very close to the surface. The scary thing is many are very aware of their true feelings and choose to conceal them for the sake of their cause. Scarier still are those who buy the act.

Peaceful Israelis
The Jews in Israel want to raise their families, work in the fields of technology, science and medicine as they have been doing. All the kids go to college and become productive citizens.
From all we have seen in the past months Hamas has one thing
In sight -- to kill as many Israelis as possible with rockets sent from hospitals and schools where civilians are located! They have never used their money to help the Palestinians have a better life in Gaza, only to hurt Israel!!!!!
(70) Laurie, August 27, 2014 5:13 PM
England - Israel
Why did England send war ships to the Falkland Islands several years ago.....were England's citizens in mortal danger? Yet, Israel is criticized for defending her residents from mortal danger as missiles fell from the skies for 5 years! Where is the concern for the Israelis who suffered trauma, injuries and destruction from Hamas....the same Hamas who is responsible for putting the Gazan residents in danger......All the finger pointing should be directed at HAMAS...for starting the war and for using civilians as targets.
The ONLY rational reason for the bias, hate and misdirecfted sympathy is that the defenders of her people, the retaliators to aggression - are Israelis. Israelis = Jews.

It seems to me your forgetting that England defended herself against the Germans during World War 2 remember the London Blitz. Of course our people should not expect sympathy from Britain as they turn us away from entering our land, after the War. Shame on them. Shirlee
(67) Deborah, August 27, 2014 1:47 PM
I don't agree with some of Israel's actions. It is possible to be detached from either side and assess both Israel and Gaza separately, judging them by what they have done.
The problem with this article is that it lumps critics of Israeli actions in with anti-Semites, which is counter-productive because it gives the impression that you only like Jews if you agree with all of Israel's actions. Actually, many critics do not think Israel should NOT defend herself, they think that not all retaliatory actions are justified. Take the attack on that UN school in Jahilaya as an example.
The second problem is that anti-Semites always need an excuse to rise up again. Sadly, bigotry against all kinds of people remains rife in the world. Yes, this should be confronted and fought on all counts, this much is obvious. Complacency is not an option.
But you cannot criticise the BBC alone for not being impartial when implying that all Israeli critics are somehow anti-Semitic.
sara, August 27, 2014 7:24 PM
sorry!
im sorry, but i feel u are wrong. you dont agree with all of israel's actions?! is warning the people by phone, and pamphlets before bombing not ethical?! think, what would you do? yes, g-d made the world full of anti semites, and its very very easy to look at things backwards, because push comes to shove, facts are that innocent civilians were definitely killed. but they were warned to leave, and a government that threatens the civilians to stay put, even when they see the real threat, and uses those very schools and hospitals bombed...i dont see how you cant see the truth...

Hateful religion, hateful culture
Unfortunately ONLY a portion of Christians understand somewhat ... The rest of the Christian world, especially in Europe, is still spreading lies and hatred against Jewish people, as they have been doing during the last 2000 years, only because Jews did not want to follow the religion of pagans and chose to worship G-d instead of a human-deity. Now they have joined the hateful Muslims who follow another religion of hatred. Birds of a feather have found each other.

Emunah
Unfortunately there will always be the anti-Semites- the haters of the one true G-D, His people, and those who truly join them. They, cannot fathom, that this one true G-D has, and always will
keep His Covenant with His people- He will not retract. This Covenant ( contract) this high and irrevocable calling is not to light a candle - but to be that Candle, that Light to the nations; and all is required is Faithful Obediance- the very Emunah Avraham walked in. The book of Devarim is chocked-full of info: follow Me, cling to Me, seek Me and obey MY Mitzvot- not really hard to understand His Ways, and of course the other half, the curses for dis-Obediance. Let us not be guilty for the lack of Emunah, and say "Is G-D really with us" - and fail the test -our G-d, our loving Abba will never leave us nor forsake us. Yes, there will be Tests- and He has every right to test and see what's in our hearts. Shema and Obey- Avraham Believed G-D, and was credited as Rightoueness.

"Hitler" is everywhere!!
It is nonending - the hatred of Jews and Israel - how can so many people be so ignorant and bigoted! I know how! They are 'carefully taught' daily - and by their clergy in their churches, just as Muslims are learning hatred in their mosques and from their clergy.
Christians better learn who their enemies are - just as Jews have learned over the centuries. We have everyone, including Christians and Muslims.
Christians have Muslims who hate them.
Christians are no longer safe in their numbers.
Jews are used to be in the less than 1/4 of 1% of the entire earth's population.

The world is blind to the manipulation of the press
An excellent article and sadly I have experienced similar attitudes within a small sector of Australian society.
Here too the press is often biased against Israel.
I personally see it as Spiritual in nature - Satan is on the rampage against God's people. It's interesting but anti Israel sentiment is at times expressed by far left wing aethistic (so called) intellectuals. However there are plenty people ( normal Aussies & real Christians ) who have not been sucked in by this evil & biased stance ( myself included).
In fact, I & friends of mine get outraged by antisemitism. I think what is happening to Israel is a dire warning to the free Western world - the Islamic militants are growing quietly in our midst preparing for havoc. But I don't despair as I know that Our God- come what may - will preserve the nation of Israel and despite the potential threat of danger in my own country I gain comfort and peace through prayer. As an ordinary citizen I do what I can to battle the blind & evil mindset some have adopted.

The Brits Have Invited Big Trouble
The Brits are such big advocates of Islamic immigration into their country, and this is where much of the anti-Semitism is coming from, the same for France, etc.
Since the Brits are welcoming Islamists with open arms, and since the Islamists goals are to take over Britain, sooner or later the Brits will be fighting the Muslims to hold onto their own neighborhoods, towns, and cities.
The Jews should get out of there as soon as possible, and move to Israel and let the Brits and Islamists destroy each other. Otherwise the Jews are becoming targets during the Islamist take-over of Britain.
Not only in Britain, but all over Europe, Canada, Australia, the USA, etc. this is beginning. The writing is on the wall. It's plain for all to see. How many Jews will recognize it, is the question.
As for me, this last few years of watching what's going on in Israel has made me realize that it is time to make Aliyah as soon as possible.
(49) Phillip Avruch, August 26, 2014 9:45 PM
It's time to consider aliyah
British Jews of the Orthodox persuasion, particularly young adults, have been making aliyah consistently over the years. I think it's time for the not so religious to seriously consider this option as well. A large group of olim brought up on British political traditions could, I think, make a positive contribution to Israel's sometimes dysfunctional political system.

Your neighbors
All of the European countries have benefited from having Jewish citizens in the midst. The Jews are scientists, artists, writers, and educators. They are good citizens and generally respect the law of the land. Let the Brits and others look at the Muslim communities in their countries.....and ask themselves who they would rather have as their neighbor. This is Antisemitism pure and simple.....and this time the Jewish people have a state of their own and a place to go. Let the Brits and others enjoy the Islamists in their midst.

WRITE, WRITE, WRITE!!
I've been writing non-stop: to my MP, Ian Murray, to whom I forwarded copy after copy of "Aish.com"; to your local Council, to the newspapers - flood their in-boxes with pro-Israel letters; to Private Eye magazine; to the House of Commons, and so on.

There is plenty we can do, e.g.:
1. Assert our Jewishness: be out and proud
2. Make common cause with other groups who support us: I have been studying Hebrew at Edinburgh Theological Seminary with the Free Church. They are strongly pro-Jewish and have been kindness and courtesy itself to me. I am inviting them to my parents' Kiddush next month.
3. Toughen up: bullies are cowards and will back down if we show our anger. I suggest we also keep fit, why not take up Tae Kwon Do?
4. Set up a fund to sponsor performances here in the UK by Israeli Jewish artists
5. Hold open house for visiting Israelis and Jews generally
6. Do more good works in the community: show that we are a powerful force for practical good, not just chattering class hand-wringers who talk a good game from the sidelines.

Jews in Britain
As a British Jew who made aliyah in 2010, I am saddened at how antisemitic my birth country has become. However, long before I left, I was told 'get back to Israel you dirty f***ing Jew' along with many casual references to the 'Jew-boys' dropped into everyday conversations. It's probably no worse than anywhere else in Europe where it's now fashionable again to be an antisemite. Or did it never really go out of fashion? Aliyah is the only real option as Jews will NEVER be accepted as citizens of European countries and growing Islamisation will only make it worse.

Anti-Semitic or Anti-Israel?
It disturbs me to read because a person is against the (actions of the) State of Israel or even the Jewish people living in Israel but supports the Palestinian Arabs in that always troubled region this person is "anti-Semitic." To my understanding Palestinian Arabs are also Semitic. Today's media, and the too many who rely on it as its teacher for just about everything, lumps Jews as the only Semites, resulting that any one, even other Semites, is "anti-Semite." There will be no honest and truthful dialogue unless the language is honest.
Charles Stern, August 27, 2014 8:44 PM
Garbage, and you know it
The term antisemitism was a term coined in the 1870's specifically to delineate hatred of the Jews. So yes, Arabic is a Semitic language, and the various tribes on the Arabian peninsula are considered Semitic peoples, but antisemitism is a specific term

At a loss
I am so horrified at the turn of events, even though I've seen it coming for years, that I just cannot come up with any way of our being able to eliminate this darkness. My fascination with ancient Europe has always been blackened and darkened by knowledge of its evils towards us, its depths of anti-Semitism. If, however, such a huge body of people insist on ignoring the truth, insist on believing the most dreadful series of lies - simply because they will grasp at any excuse to hate us - then what can we do? All I can say, as a 72 year-old who has spent a lifetime in the anti-Semitic mill, is: We must not live in denial. If we think we should get out of Europe, then we MUST get out. We cannot sit there, living in our communities and practising our faith as though nothing is wrong and nothing will happen to us. EVERYTHING is wrong, and with Islam stating loud and clear that it will kill every one of us, it seems to me we have to act quickly, and that those of us who can afford to do so, both physically and financially, should just get out. And go to the one country that wants us and will care for us to the very best of its ability. We have nowhere else to go. THIS is as it always has been.

The Stockholm Syndrome
Many Britons are questioning their future in the United Kingdom.
They see Sharia Law spreading throughout their country, and many have been forced to leave their neighborhoods, which have literally been taken over by radical fundamentalists. They are angry and concerned, but seem helpless to do anything about it. Perhaps the Nanny State and fear of the PC government has fueled this apathy and dependence. As for the Hamas supporters, they are cowards who are feeding the crocodile. They see Israel as outnumbered, and a safer bet is to root for the winning team. The parallels to Nazi Germany are indeed frightening. I only hope that those brave and patriotic Brits who are left will rally their spirits as they did in WWII, like this brave young woman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psZBaJU_Cvo
It seems the sun is setting in the British Empire, and they are slaves after all.

pandering to the Muslims
The Muslims have got the British where they want them, wait a little longer and the Christians will be next, then I wonder how they will react. I know first hand that there is antisemitism in the UK even in the churchs I remember being in a church in Egham Surrey some years ago and the minister wanted people to boycott Caterpillar because they were building a wall around Israel and keeping out the Palestinians. Did not matter when the Germans and poles put a wall around the Jews and gased them. I was upset that the east German wall came down because the the Germans needed to be always reminded what they did.I never returned to the Christian church again and commenced doing Jewish worship--its so much better

Go HOME!
I am beginning to believe the only solution to the problems of the worlds Jews outside of Israel is for them to begin a world migration back home. I think it is in the best interest of the Israeli government to make preparations for the coming decade(s) to think about returning Israel to it's ORIGINAL borders. Ending the diaspora of the Jews is the single most important topic along with it's security. Return home Jews, return home to where G-d intended for you to exist, and be happy for all eternity.

Gentile response to anti-semitism
I am not Jewish. But I am sickened by the repetition of History time and again against the Jewish people. As a gentile I will never permit any Jew to be harmed in my presence, neither by word or by other ways. The injustice of history is being repeated within the coziness of cilvility and the self deceptive cloak of some higher moral. Most pro gaza activits have absolutely no concern or love for the palestinians, it is just a pretext and a focal point fueled by the resurrected Goebbel's industry and motivated by the spirit of an unjust hatred. they cried "we are hamas"? They were not lying, though they have no idea what this word means, it means: we are brutally violent!

The Brits have no clue!
Apparently, the Brits do not remember retaliating against the Germans in WWII for bombing London and bombing cities like Dresden killing noncombatants. Whereas, the Israelies are attempting to strategically eliminate weapons of war being used against them and trying to keep civilian casualties to a minimum -- The younger Brits should learn about history, treaties and agreements before opening their mouths and they would be better off to take steps to send the Arabs who invaded their country back to where they came from before they destroy it!

If this is an advertising war, buy time on TV and space in newspapers. Demand that anytime "free" space/time is given to the PA and their ilk that Israel gets an equal amount to respond. Get to the schools as well or you lose the next generation. Show the truth before all is lost. Fight, don't run. Show the way women are treated, children are taught to kill Christians, the ongoing Muslim vs Christians wars throughout the world As We Speak, what Shuria Law means to England, and the singleminded ness of Hamas to kill Jews. This can all be done without expressing any hatred - do not sink to the level of Hamas. focus on doing good and make a kiddush Hashem
Excellent and informative article, thank you Yvette.
The only way to eliminate darkness is to light a candle. A little light eliminates a lot of darkness. If everyone does their best to add a mitzvah, help someone out, make a kiddush Hashem and show the nations of world why we're here (to bring G-dliness into the world). That goes a long way to destroying the evil out there.
This was always the Lubavitcher Rebbe's message, you eliminate darkness with light. It's the single most effective way to turn this world around.
Best,
Yishai

Time for Britain & Europe to close the borders
I find it disgusting that hordes of muslims invade a civilized country, and then demand that country bow to their ways, rather than assimilating. Churchill had it right, when he said "islam is not a religion, but a political philosophy". Let a European move to a muslim country and demand a church...see how long that person would stay alive. Time to deport these 'immigrants' and keep any more from polluting Western Civilization. Let them remain in the 6th Century in their home lands.Civilized Europe needs to act fast.

USA in TROUBLE
Same is happening in USA!!! They have taken over many communities and then push their agenda!! Now FOX is saying that 2 terrorists killed this week in Syria were Americans born and raised in these areas!! I have said for years that we need to look in all of these mosques in USA! Especially since Israel found bombs in mosques in the Gaza! It is absolutely amazing how many mosques there now are in USA! Surprisingly when they wanted to build one at the 9/11 site there were enough people who fought it, that it didn't happen!! When they had a rally against Israel in Seattle last month, it was amazing how many Muslims were in the crowd!!!! Wake up America!!!!!!!!!!

If only it could be so...
Yishai, I love your letter. But no mitzvah, no little bits of light, no kiddush Hashem is going to touch the black hearts of British, European and Islamic anti-Semites. They are once again - it is far from new - determined to get rid of us. Sadly the Lubavitcher Rebbe's message did nothing to stop the Nazis, and the only thing that can stop the present onslaught is that the perpetrators suddenly see sense and recognize the evil of Islam for what it is.
This will only happen when we are gone and the Islamists begin tormenting and killing gentiles. Remember that England expelled every Jew in the 11th or 12th century. The hatred has not diminished. It could very easily be happening again right now. The only consolations for us being that THIS time we have our own country which will welcome us, and THIS time England will suffer from losing us because Jewish people bring a great deal to Britain in the way of intellectual pursuits, music, science, commercial activity, charity and philanthropy. We make staid old Britain thrive. Our absence will cause them suffering. I hope.
(19) Boruch Katina, August 26, 2014 3:39 PM
We must pray TOGETHER and show selfless love.
I think the way to combat antisemitism is to pray together, along with other physical strategies (such as demonstrations, supporting Israeli products, etc). Our reason for being in the diaspora is hatred for one another. The cure is selfless love and joining together.

(17) David, August 26, 2014 3:33 PM
Anti-Semitism is a Terrible Plague
Two of my sons ended up volunteering as soldiers with the IDF. I never encouraged serving in the military, but I did raise them to be tolerant.
My sons in the IDF discovered the terrible reality that the Palestinian leaders have created societies that teach hatred and murder. Hatred and Murder when taught to five year olds who become Jihadist murderers when they are teens, so generations of youth have been poisoned, which has been encouraged by US funding of UN schools and curriculums of hate.
Regarding British anti-semitism. Is this a new phenomenon? Jews do not live in York! This goes back nearly a thousand years. Giving facts to an anti-semite is a waste of time. The demographics in Britain, just as in France is that Islamization is inevitable. The first step is the toleration of Islamic excesses. Of course they can behead non-Moslems. Of course they can abuse women. Of course they can riot and express hatred for Jews. Of course they can subject themselves to Sharia. Of course they can insist that Mohammed not be characterized in the press etc. as the lowlife that he was.
One sees a reflection of this in the value of the Pound, which is also reflected in the disastrous state of the euro.
Europe reaps what it sowed. Time for the Jews to pick up stakes.
Sandy, August 26, 2014 9:05 PM
To David - where should they go now?
Where would you suggest the Jews go now? Every country is becoming overrun with Jew hating Muslims. Even the United States has as many pro Palestinian/Hamas rallies as Pro Israel ones. We must teach the "uninformed" the truth first. Then try teaching the "misinformed". The so called "Palestinians" have been taught hatred since 1948. That is 3 generations. It is very difficult, if not impossible to unlearn that kind of imbedded hatred. They believe the lies fed to them that the Jews chased them out, when in fact, the Arab leaders told all the Arabs to leave while they "push the Jews into the sea". This of course never happened, and those Arabs who stayed are very happy in Israel. The "Palestinians" have been kept refugees for political purposes by their Arab brothers. If tiny Israel could absorb over 600,000 Jews who were expelled from all the Arab countries, why won't the Arab countries allow citizenship to the same amount of Arabs? Because if they accepted them instead of teaching them hatred, there would be nothing to fight about. There are 22 Arab/mostly Muslim countries and only 1 tiny Jewish country and they won't even allow those 7 million to live in peace.

The European Caliphate
It pains me to say it but Europe is no place for Jews anymore. It has become too dangerous. Europe has been overrun by the muslims and the Nazis - who never went away, just underground. It won't be long before ISIS and other jihadis start detonating bombs all over Europe and eradicating the indigenous population. I for one won't shed a tear. To the residents of Glasgow....leave the Palestinian flag up. it will save ISIS from having to put it back up in a decade when Glasgow becomes part of the Caliphate.

Fight back
Compared to UK or France, the Situation in Germany is not so bad, albeit in cities with large muslim Population, its uncomfortable. In Germany, quite a Proportion of the media has been shocked by the antisemitism in anti Israel demonstrations. Demonstrations are now occuring against antisemitism and also against the persecution of armenians and yazides and kurds by ISIS in Iraq, Syria AND Europe - they too receive death treaths etc. Major demonstrations are planned in Frankfurt and Berlin, also in Cologne etc. Notably, some Muslims are also participating, in particular the Alevites have strongly condemned anti jewish hatred. In conjunction, a twitter campaign is now running - make your voice heard, against jew hatred, and die Bild Zeitung a widely read tabloid and owned by the Springer Verlag (sympathetic to Israel and Jewish concerns, pro democratic) has started a series of short articles (its a daily tabloid for the masses) on anti jewish hatred in the middle ages, lies about the Gaza war, who the anti jewish haters are, Statements by many prominent people condemning antisemitism. We are inviting arabs and kurds to join, and Support is forthcoming from the government and churches.

British media should be sued for false reporting. What does Britain have to gain by criticizing Israel. Are they trying to become a Muslim country. What about the Queen. Chattering classes are the worst
Melanie Phillips points out the interesting fact that venomous Israel-hatred is more prevalent among the elites, among those higher on the social ladder and with more formal education, an indictment of the poisonous culture at the universities and the perversity of the post modern elite.
What sort of hatred caused a British senior diplomat Rowan Laxton, head of British foreign policy in South Asia to scream in a public gym while watching reports on the TV about Israeli attacks on Hamas in Gaza: 'F...ing Israeli! F...king Jews!.' And that 'Israelis should be blown off the f...ing earth' if they got in the way of the international community. Or John Pilger blaming Israel for the 2004 Madrid train bombings.
Lots of love by the way to the Ulster Protestant Loyalists who flew the Israeli flag in Belfast in opposition to the execrable George Galloway and Sinn Fein

Sainsbury's response to removal of Kosher products
Dear Ms Beryl Ebert
Thank you for your email about the fresh kosher range at our Holborn store.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience or offence caused. The decision was taken in one store only to move these chilled products to cold storage elsewhere in that store for a short period on Saturday as a precautionary measure during a demonstration close by. They were returned to shelf as soon as was practically possible. Our ambient (store cupboard temperature) kosher range was kept on sale in store throughout.
As a non-political organisation, Sainsbury's would never take such a decision on grounds other than ensuring the quality or safety of our products.
I hope I have been able to reassure you, thank you again for contacting us.

Jewish Britons must take action
Jewish Agencies should cast civil law-suits against the media, that they are the direct cause of the vitriolic hatred spewing from these people. The British must demand that their media outlets present unbiased reporting, if they don't they deserved to be sued for culpable incitement to violence, racism and hatred. European Western countries do not deserve to have the title of "free, liberal democracies" if they consider it appropriate to allow such statements to go unchecked. I guarantee that if the same statements were said about Christians the media would be quick to bite their tongues.

What are we waiting for.? Hashem has given us our homeland of Israel.

Dismay at leadership
As a Briton, I am used to 'gutter press' but I am appalled at how biased news sites are.
Ancestrally I am Jewish, but have been brought up Christian. My mother worked on a Kibbutz when she was younger, my father worked in Israel also, and this year I was on a volunteer program helping Israel.
I have been brought up to not judge others, not to be racist and to be open minded.
I struggle with people's reactions to the fighting in Gaza. Why should Israel NOT have the right to defend itself when attacked? If any country in Europe were to be attacked the immediate response would be to retaliate.
I, like many others around the globe, was saddened and dismayed when he three Jewish boys were kidnapped and killed and equally when the young Muslim boy was also kidnaped and killed.
This news site had a very thought provoking article at the time showing the contrasting reactions to the killings, and I wish more people read it. Sorrow and sadness on the streets in Israel contrasted with rejoicing and celebration in Palestine.
With the brutal execution of James Foley the entire world needs to resist criticising Israel for the actions in defending itself and unite against terrorist organisations like IS, Hamas and Hezbollah.
People are puzzled and often unbelieving when I tell them (or remind them) that Hamas uses their own people as human shields and hide weapons and armoury inside hospitals and schools.
I am proud to support Israel and pray for longstanding peace and safety.

Thank you, Matthew for giving your point of view
As a concerned Christian Canadian, i can't agree more. I am shocked that the british would so swiftly consider sanctions against israel; on one hand obama's gov't wouldn't consider a ransom for James Foley & yet Britain wants to punish israel with sanctions? I'm sick of the punitive rhetoric and shocked that the British would allow their press to so grossly misinform them.

Education
There is currently a boycott in Manchester's King Street against Kedem the beauty product shop - whilst driving to support Kedem I was listening to radio 4 and the rhetoric for pro-Israel/anti-Hamas was that it could stoke anti-semitism. Albeit true, when you have seconds on national TV you need to go from grassroots eg Zuheir Mohsen (Muhsein) PLO leader 1977 who stated:
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a
Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle
against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality
today there is no difference between Jordanians,
Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and
tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of
a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand
that we posit the existence of a distinct 'Palestinian
people' to oppose Zionism.
This is echoed in both Hamas and the 'moderate' Fatah charters. So quotes from Zuheri Mohsen and article 8 and 13 of the Hamas Charter and that the historical 'Palestine' should be 'free and Arab' only according to FATAH's Charter.
It would do well to know about the San Remo agreement/Balfour declaration as well as know the Qur'an and Sunna.
In the meantime, prepare your kids going to University with Zuheir Muhsein, HAMAS/FATAH charters - they're going to need it.

Every Jew has the possibility to
Study the history of the conflict first, and then battle bias in the media and in social media. This may take time. The solution is not to fight but to elucidate (do hasbara) . I have been doing this since the conflict began. The anti israeli arguments are baseless and always the same
