On April 19, the Corfu synagogue, in Greece, was burned. How many Jews live in Corfu today? One hundred and fifty. How many Jews live in Greece? Eight thousand, or about 0.8% of the population. For some, it seems these figures are still far too high. Two other synagogues were burned in Greece during the past year. Anti-Semitic graffiti on the walls are spreading all over the country.
What happened in Greece is happening everywhere across the European continent.
During the last decade, synagogues were vandalized or set on fire in Poland, Sweden, Hungary, France. Anti-Semitic inscriptions are being drawn on building walls in Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, London, Berlin and Rome. Jewish cemeteries are being ransacked. Jews are being attacked on the streets of most major cities on the continent. In the Netherlands, the police use "decoy Jews" in order to try arrest the perpetrators red-handed.
Jewish schools are being placed under police protection everywhere, and are usually equipped with security gates. Jewish children in public high schools are bullied; when parents complain, they are encouraged to choose another place of learning for their children.
In some cities people are selling their homes at any price and leaving.
In some cities such as Malmö, Sweden, or Roubaix, France, the persecution suffered by the Jewish community has reached such a degree that people are selling their homes at any price and leaving. Those who stay have the constant feeling that they are risking their lives: they must be extremely streetwise and carry no sign showing who they are. In 1990, approximately 2000 Jewish people lived in Malmö; now there are fewer than 700, and the number is decreasing every year.
Jews now, in fact, have to be streetwise in all European countries: men wearing a skullcap usually hide it under a hat or a cap. Owners of kosher restaurants located on avenues where protests are organized close their facilities before the arrival of the participants -- even if the protest is about wages or retirement age. They know too well that among the demonstrators, there will always be some who will express their rage at the sight of a Jewish name or a star of David on a store front. In Paris, on Labor Day, May 1st, in front of a Jewish café on Avenue of the Republic, several hundred demonstrators stopped and began to boo "Jews" and "Zionists." A man coming out of the café was assaulted until police officers arrived on the scene.
A few weeks ago in Norway, when Alan Dershowitz was banned from giving lectures on the conflict in the Middle East, the professors who supported the ban used anti-Semitic stereotypes in their remarks. What happened to him is now commonplace. In many universities in Europe, giving lectures on Jewish culture has become risky, and giving lectures on Israel anywhere -- without being clearly « pro-Palestinian » - is even more risky, or impossible: Once the event is announced, the organizers and the lecturers immediately receive explicit death threats by mail or by the internet. The day the lecture takes place, "anti-Zionists" organize violent protests, try to prevent people from entering the hall, and physically attack the lecturers. The only way to avoid this type of situation is to organize the lecture by invitation only, without ads.
After World War II, anti-Semitism seemed to disappear in Europe. It is back, to a very disquieting degree.
Although it is not exactly the same anti-Semitism that in the 1930's, it is not fully different.
It is an anti-Semitism that is widespread in the Muslim population that settled in Europe, and it would be easy to think that it is strictly an Islamic phenomenon, but the anti-Semitism as it exists today in the Muslim world was heavily influenced by the old European anti-Semitism. And what the Muslim immigrants bring with them can easily find resonances in European non-Muslim populations. Copies of fraudulent Protocols of the Elders of Zion in Arabic are sold in Islamic bookstores from one end of the continent to the other, and they also circulate abundantly again in many European languages, under the mantle or via internet.
It is also an anti-Semitism that allows the far right to restate its rejection of "cosmopolitanism" -- an adjective on the European continent that has always been used to point out the Jews -- in a context where, because of the European economic decline, nationalist tensions and isolationism sound more and more seductive. It is an anti-Semitism that the left does not want to fight, because for it, the Muslims are oppressed, and the left is always on the side of those it defines as oppressed, whether or not the oppression is caused by the terrible governance inside those countries, or scapegoated onto someone else. European anti-racist movements say they are very concerned about "Islamophobic racism," but they are totally reluctant to discuss the anti-Semitism in the Muslim populations.
Hatred towards Israel is now the most widely shared sentiment among Europeans.
The new, current anti-Semitism now adds on to the old kind, the demonization of the State of Israel. The Islamic view of Israel is now the dominant view of Israel in Europe. The idea that Israel is a "colonial power" that has "robbed" people of their land, and is an "artificial State", even though the Jews have been on that land for three thousand years -- and even though many states in the area, such as Jordan and Libya, and Iraq are even more illegitimate, their borders having been drawn on papre by the British in the 1920s -- is a commonplace among journalists.
Hatred towards Israel is now the most widely shared sentiment among Europeans, whatever their place on the political spectrum. It is now through hatred of Israel, that hatred of Jews as annoying "troublemakers" can again express itself.
European Muslim populations hate Israel and seek its destruction. European non-Muslim people seem think that if Israel did not exist, tensions with Muslims would be less, and they attribute to Israel all the responsibility of the tensions, even though , since most of the Jews have fled from countries in the Middle East, it is now the Christian Copts in Egypt and the Christian Assyrians in Iraq who are being attacked by Islamic mobs. As the Arabic saying goes, "First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people."
As Israel is a Jewish state, European Jews are asked to be « good Europeans », and to disavow Israel. If they refuse, or worse, if they say they still support Israel, they are considered untrustworthy.
In the 1930s, Jews were accused of not being full members of the country where they lived. Today, the same criticism rises in a slightly different form: Jews are accused of the existence of a Jewish state, and are suspected of being too tied to that state to be full members of the country where they live.
More deeply, the non-Jews of Europe might feel that if they can paint the Jews as evil, then perhaps what their parents and grandparents did to them during World War II was not really so bad after all; you could even say they deserved what they got. As some Scandinavians put it, The Jews killed Christ; at least the Muslims did not do that.
The anti-Semitism of the 1930s led to the Holocaust, which led the Jews to flee to Israel, the only country that would take them in and not let shiploads of fleeing Jews sink at sea. Now, European anti-Semitism accuses the Jews of Israel's existence, and of reminding them of the Holocaust by remembering it themselves. Meanwhile, an increasing number of Europeans seem quite ready for another Holocaust: one that would be the annihilation of Israel.
An increasing number of Europeans seem quite ready for another Holocaust: one that would be the annihilation of Israel.
If sacrificing Israel allowed non-Muslim Europeans to see Muslim anger disappear, they would be willing to make the sacrifice immediately. If, in order to accept the sacrifice with a clear conscience, non-Muslim Europeans have to caricature Israel ignobly, they will -- and do. Anti-Israel cartoons fill European newspapers from London to Spain, and even receive awards. The Israeli army is often compared in European media to the Nazi army. The comparison is fully playing its role: if the Jews are Nazis today, it means that the Europeans did the world a favor in killing six million of them, and that the Europeans are not really guilty.
If Israel can be portrayed as a Nazi state, its destruction is acceptable, maybe even legitimate, maybe even desirable. The fact that Mein Kampf is a bestseller in the Palestinian territories and in most countries of the Muslim world is totally left out, just like the fact that many Jews living in Israel are survivors of the Holocaust committed in Europe sixty five years ago.
A survey conducted last year for the Friederich Ebert Foundation, a German think tank linked to Germany's Social Democratic Party, was eloquent. To the question: « Do you think that Jews abuse their status as victims of Nazism ? » , positive responses reached proportions hardly imaginable: 72.2% in Poland, 48% in Germany, 40.2% in Italy, 32.3% in France. Another question, « Do you understand why people do not like Jews », generated results that must be faced. Number of positive responses: 55.2% in Poland, 48.9% in Germany, 40.2% in Italy. The question was not asked in France. In several polls conducted in Europe over the last decade, Israel was identified as the most dangerous country for world peace, tied with Iran.
The question: "Are you anti-Semitic" was not asked anywhere. I have no doubt that, if asked the question, those who understand that "People do not like Jews," and who probably do not like them either, would have said that they were not anti-Semitic.
The question, "Do you think that Israel is conducting a war of extermination against the Palestinians," was asked. Positive responses : 63% in Poland, 47.7% in Germany.
Moshe Kantor, president of the European Jewish Congress, called the poll "very disturbing. The governments of Europe, and the European Union," he said, "would do well to wake up to this problem before it is too late."

i have just returned from Krakow, and went to visit the concentration camps. they were all crowded with thousands of people,if anti-semitism is allover europe, what were these people doing there. I do not think they were all jews .they showed the
greatest of respect. tho I must say the gestapo all did with a smile on their faces, as the photos showed.

Accurate
Until recently I lived in Germany, and consider this an accurate description of an ever more appalling reality. It would be unfair not to mention the enormous effort made by Germany to atone and overcome the dreadful reality of nazism and the Holocaust. However, antisemitism and racism have deep historical roots: read Hannah Arendt's masterpiece and you will realize this. Hate for the different. The Lord be praised that Israel exists and is also punishing jewish terrorism in Israel! A wonderful, balanced and truly democratic state....the only one in the middle east.

Anti-Semitism is Alive and Growing
For those of you who find these reports exaggerated, here is one of many articles on the topic.
http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/middle-east/140804/anti-semitism-rise-europe-israel-gaza-conflict.
According to the article, “In the United Kingdom alone, there were 130 anti-Semitic incidents in the month of July. “ (2014)
Embedded is a list of recent anti-Semitic incidents reported by the ADL:
http://www.adl.org/anti-semitism/international/c/global-antisemitism-2014.html#.U9-xaoBdVM0
The evidence is out there, if one cares to look. I am disgusted and ashamed at the apathy, if not the hostility, I am seeing in many Americans over this problem. I would invite people to watch Judgment at Nuremburg again or to re-read The Diary of Anne Frank to refresh your memories, or see the many hours of newsreels showing the horrors of the death camps or to visit the Holocaust Museum in D.C.
Even better, talk to your parents and grandparents who remember WWII and what happened to the Jews in Europe. Sadly, many WWII vets are no longer here to remind us, but I remember very clearly the discussions my father had with me about anti-Semitism and the Holocaust. It appears to me that we Gentiles are selling out by blaming the Jews for our economic crisis (once again) and cowardly placating the homicidal radical Islamists because we think that would make life easier for us. It won’t, when Sharia law spreads into your neighborhoods, as it has in many neighborhoods in Europe (read Bruce Bawer’s While Europe Slept, one of many books on the subject). That is their agenda—get it? This is an all-out “holy” war against the Jews AND Christians, and anyone who doesn’t submit to their edict. If you don’t understand our duty to protect and defend our Jewish friends, at least take the blinders off, if only in your own self-interest and in the interest of your right to walk this earth as free people. You will be next.

antisemitism
Considering what was done to them throughout history, the Jewish people have been so civilized about it, Incredible, in fact. Even now there is enough nastiness lurking in places, and the Jewish people have every reason to be vigilant.

I would rather live in a country full of jews than hypocritical and angry Muslims (NOT saying all muslims are like that but some undoubtably are) Why are the jews always given such a hard time? It seems they want a whole lot less than most nations - a peaceful place to live and call their own. Most nations have that already but are still unsatisfied.

not 100% the case
Living in couple of European countries, I find some of the statements a bit exagerated. "Hatred towards Israel is now the most widely shared sentiment among Europeans." - It is not the MOST widely spread hatred. Believe me. There're still a lot of gypsies who ppl blame in their crisis, and other minorities in different countries. But perhaps, sooon this prophecy might come true. Hopefully not.

WE stand with you
Please know that many, many Christians stand with you. Just last night as my family discussed the UN discussion of Jerusalem for the palestine capitol, we knew Israel will not stand for it... we all said that we would fight, go to Israel and fight on your behalf.

good, let them be antisemitic
the more antisemitic europe is, the higher Israel's net aliyah is. the jews should have all left europe (and the exile) in the 1950s, but better late than never.

If we wanted to protect the Jews, and ourselves, as we should have done after WW2, we should NEVER have allowed the festering immigration of malevolent, hostile, misogynistic, stone age islamics into Europe. This plague of muslims now rots every European country from the heart outwards. In the UK the BRITISH taxpayer is having to take care of the cretins and disabled offspring that are being born to these secretive moronic cultists who have brought the problem on themselves by completely refusing to integrate and widen their gene pool. If I didn't have God, I'd go completely insane; I thank Him every day that I have His promise.

Hatred rises with the rise of Islam
Wherever you have a Moslem population; you have anti-Semitism. Europe has seen an increase of its Moslem population and the fact that Anti-Semitism is rising in Europe directly correlates to that increase. Realizing these facts would tell all Jews that there will never be any peace between Ishmael and Isaac.

i feel sick at heart
what a sad day indeed to hear of such hostile and obvious ignorant hatred toward a peaceful nation! I say this as a non jew. when will such evil be erradicated from the psyche of man!! have men not learned any lessons from the holocaust? stop using Jewish people as a scapegoat to air out blame and frustrations and a means to lash out in anger!!

Article Today About Mel Gibson
This addresses the topic here about Anti-Semitism. ~~~~~~~ The general public, the media, and motion picture industry will again love this man, because he can make billions of dollars for them. (everyone can be bought if the price is right) They might pretend to be Politically Correct to the vile he spews in public , but the industry will support him and his work and unfortunately his views. ~~~~~~~~~~ He is an Anti-Semite, a racist, a woman hater, and a man who it seems, is above laws and good judgement. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ America and 'Hollywood' producers will still accept him, and soon the public will accept his opinions. Americans love movies and they love to hate.

This world is becoming more evil everyday
Hamas and other terrorists gangs have openly said many times they want to wipe Israel off the map, and murder Jews and they have proved it over and over again by murdering Jews many times. And yet most of the world sympathizes with the terrorists rather than Israel. This world is increasingly becoming a wicked, evil place where good is called evil and evil good. Suicide Terrorists who blow up elderly Holocaust survivors sitting down for a Passover meal, are denounced in one breath, and yet in another called upon to be *understood* because they are supposedly oppressed. Jewish families building homes in the land of Israel are denounced more than heartless terrorist murderers who stab a Jewish infant in the head after butchering her family. I used to be horrified by the story of Noah's Ark and how God drowned the whole world because most of the people became so wicked now I am begining to understand.

Defending Greece.....
Consider the location where this Burning took place...As far North of Greece as you can get..Close to a one of the most "Closed Muslim Countries" in the world...Why isn't this reported in the article???
DAVID, June 14, 2011 8:21 AM
not defending Greece
He Nick ever heard about Hellenism , an attempt by the old Greeks to destroy Judaism? Forwarding to today, unfortunally we have the Greek orthodox church here in Israel with some seriuos amounts of land ownership. Every few years thye choose a new church leader here, which is steeped in the most vicious Jew hatred possible. The Greek orthodox are pagans who absolutly hate the Jews and do not hide their hatred. So Nick defending Greece is a mute point, they are just part of the pack, good thing is that the country is bankrupt and finished, serves them right.

Those who forget history are bound to repeat it
Anyone who can justify their hatred toward the Jews for any reason, whether its one man in the court system, or the rewritten bull....in today's history books, needs to meet with a survivor of the holocaust, I have known several. Anyone who perpetrates the lie that it didn't happen, should be sat down in a room and forced to watch the live footage of the troops entering those death camps. Another thing people better be aware of is the fact that after they came for the Jews, they came for everyone else they deemed undesireable, Catholics, Homosexuals, Gypsies and many more. Forget what the koran says, listen to what those people are screaming in their streets, death to the Jews and death to the US. I don't think they're kidding folks. I, for one, STAND WITH ISREAL. Are there Jewish people who hate me, probably. But I am still responsible for my actions. I will not repeat history.
(22) Dr Arthur Laifer, June 2, 2011 6:08 PM
AM L'VADAD YISHKON. Jews can only survive on their own resources
I recommend that Jews all Jews awaken to the fact that they are alone in a world that has always condemned them for whatever they can find fault with. Apparently it is an endemic issue with the psyche of all humankind since the time of Abraham. It is a sad commentary on our human history.
Therry, June 3, 2011 8:35 PM
Israel is certainly not alone and there are many European Christans who are standing with Israel in their local community and churches. We will not be silent!!! This month we are praying for Israel and Gods Protection for Jewish people and also we are trying to helping in practical ways by supporting a charity. Israel has more christian friends today that ever before in the history of Christanity.
(21) Isaac, June 2, 2011 4:30 PM
History is an indicator.
When we look back at history and see that the birth of the state of Israel, was the outgrowth of the holocaust. And if the old adage is true, that history repeats itself, then a similar outgrowth will occur from our current calamity, I am sure. We most not feel troubled or fear of Israel's continued exist. Remember what the prophet Jeremiah said, "Hashem will not exile the Jews from their land of Israel, ever again." Lamentations 4:22
(20) Robert, June 1, 2011 4:41 PM
One more explanation among many
Hatred of Jews is not new and it has many causes. While professeur Millière touches on Israeli treatment of the Palestinians over many decades, he does not say it is one of the causes of hatred of Jews in Europe. Like a lot of people, the good professor does not even consider that Israeli treatment of the Palestinians since 1967 gives Europeans and others one more reason to hate Jews.
Anonymous, June 2, 2011 11:54 PM
I'm sure any country being under pressure of destruction from its inception would have been much nicer to its enemies
Hatred blinds people, and antisemitism is the strongest sun in their eyes. "Palestinians" are arabs, part of 1 billion and more Arabs in 22 countries, on the other hand Israel is about 6 million Jews with the back to the sea. The Arab standard of living is probably much higher than in any other Arab countries, but for their murderous nature they are unable to take advantage of the possibility the Jews give them. Probably Europeans and other antisemites would prefer Israel not stop the Arab murderous attacks, not to defend the daycares, and schools, or buses or ice cream parlours , after all the world would all just do that if they were threatened like we are.
muman613, June 3, 2011 12:24 AM
Are you joking, or stoned?
You complain about 'treatment of 'palestinians'' yet where was your complaint about the arab treatment of Jews over the centuries. Jews were treated as dhimmis {and they want to do this to us again} we were beaten, robbed, and had no rights or representation. Arabs in Israel are treated 1000x times better, they are given education, serve in the government, and vote in elections. It is completely hypocritical of you to claim antisemitism is due to the 'treatment of palestinians'. Besides the facts indicate that there is no such thing as a 'Palestinian' nation. There has never been such a people and it was only invented in the 1960s by the enemies of the Jewish people. And Im sure the 'treatment of palestinians' explains why Europe is attacking Kashrut and Circumcision...
(19) SusanE, May 30, 2011 3:33 PM
All this for one Time One Unknown Chambermaid?
The readers are right. And you don't have to look 60 years ago to understand the hatred of Jews in Europe and in the United States. I'm not stating that it should be viewed this way, but I will tell you that it is viewed this way. ~~~~ This is another piece of fuel that will fire rage and anti-semitism. http://news.muckety.com/2011/05/30/high-priced-defense-team-representing-dominique-strauss-kahn/32461 ~~~~ If this man has access through his wife to millions of dollars to prove that he didn't rape a woman, and he asserts that he is innocent, then why does he need this incredibly powerful team of attorneys and other people? I smell a rat. The defendant has been counseled about his unacceptable behavior in the past. Read the Jewish sounding names on the teams and organizations that will be part of defending him and you tell me why anti-semitism is on the rise. Hatred and exclusion has always been just under the surface here in US. ~~~~~~~~~~ No one, Jewish or other should be above the law. And money or power should not buy justice. Unlike Europe we are politically correct here in the USA, but we're not stupid.
Beverly Kurtin, May 31, 2011 4:02 AM
Gimme a breakj
Why is it that if a Gentile does something wrong, their faith or nationality is not brought up? But if a Jew does something, people think it is quite okay to bring up his religion, nationality, etc.? It stinks.
SusanE, May 31, 2011 12:30 PM
We don't control what people think.
We can't control what people think. We can only control our words and actions. I am from the US and I can tell you that anti-semitism is here and has always been here, along with racial injustices. Political correctness drove all that under the surface, and that seems even more dangerous to me. ---------- By their conduct, headlines about Maddof and Kahn (and many others)are in the news, but probably both those men are criminals and have hurt people. Have they been unfairly accused? They both happen to have Jewish sounding names. ------ Italians were grouped together as mobsters for a long time and still are when a scandel hits. The Catholic church was identified in the child abuse scandel. Other Ethnic groups are classified in generalities. The Jews aren't the only ones brought to task for wrongdoing, and having their culture or religion stated. Mormons are always identifyed by their religion when any news breaks. So are muslims here in the US. A Jewish person probably should never make a Jew vs. Gentile debate. With the assimilation here, that difference is very hard to determine.

(17) Penny Kalikow, May 30, 2011 1:47 PM
This is nothing new;the hate never ended in Germany or Poland or France; it has been growing for the past 50 years; a large majority of the United Nations consistently condemns Israel for every conflict in the mid-east region. There's plenty of anti-Semitism right here in the US.
(16) Independent, May 30, 2011 7:49 AM
The Link
Do not forget the part played by Al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, in the grafting of European anti-semitism on the already existing Muslim anti-semitism. He met the Fuhrer, visited Auschwitz, broadcast on behalf of the Nazis, spent the war in Berlin, and recruited the Bosnian Muslim branch of the SS. He only escaped indictment as a war criminal because of Anglo-American dependence on Arab oil.
(15) Anonymous, May 30, 2011 5:10 AM
This is an article of utter foolishness and little real research. To say that muslim anti-Semitism was heavily influenced by old European bigotry. Did the writer ever actually read the Koran? To totally hate the Jews is part and parcel of Islam. It is a core teaching to their offspring. Plus, it is a leftist viewpoint that all things are 'relative' and no culture is good or evil, that does not help in dispelling the delusions imposed upon society. Insist upon dealing in the facts and the truths. Not the delusions of an lefty ideal gone haywire and out of control. Put the blame where it rightly belongs. And self hating Jews have played no small part in the onslaught of hatred across Europe and coming to America. Return to the L-rd and do something sensible for a change, instead of writing articles that are clearly uninformed.
Harry, May 30, 2011 5:34 PM

You suggest doing soemthing sensible. Can you be specific? Name three sensible things someone could do.
es58, June 3, 2011 4:40 PM
"utter foolishishness"? not quite
I'll agree that a number of claims are here for which I'd like to see more references, however, if ONLY the survey listed at the end of the article, with the opinion % numbers, are accurate, and statisitically significant, then the author's main point would seem to be carried.
(14) Emily, May 30, 2011 12:36 AM
lack of education
So many of this generation are not educated enough about what really took place and they are allowing themselves to be swayed by individuals who have ingrained hatred of anyone or anything different than themselves. I think the Jewish people have suffered too much and should be left alone. I wish the world felt that way, but for some reason they feel a necessity to have a scape goat and the Jews seem to be a quick target for that. I am so sorry that this is happening. I do not wish to see the horrors of the Holocaust take place again. What is the difference in a persons beliefs or religion that they should be picked on to this degree. I have never understood it and never will. As a young child two of my dearest friends were Jews and over the years there have been many miles between us and so we drifted apart, but I still love them dearly and remember them well. I wish the rest of the world would take individuals as they are and not as they are not. Peace and love for one another is the only answer, but I do not see it happening soon. I will pray for it.
(13) Yisrael, May 30, 2011 12:15 AM
Jew-hatred and violence
The time has come for European Jews to stop complaining about antisemitism and to stop trying to reason with antisemites. Instead, Jews should actually do something about antisemitism. There is little we can do to make the antisemite not hate Jews. However, the antisemite can be harmed by Jews and can fear Jews. For every Jew that is beaten, 10 anti-semites should be savagely beaten. For every synagoge that is vandalized, torch the residences of 10 antisemites. Harass every European politician or cultural icon who is an antisemite or tolerates antisemitism.
Anonymous, May 31, 2011 4:23 AM
I've Love to do that but...
That is not Judaism. If we could actually do that, we'd be wiped out so fast, it would make our heads spin. Jew haters are simply idiots, they parrot what they have heard from their parents or their parents. I try to use a bit of logic with them, but what REALLY kicks them in the guts is to ask them if they think that they are Christians. Tell them they're not what they think they are, they are nothing. Hey, Jesus was one of ours!
(12) Dr. Nathan Warszawski, May 29, 2011 10:17 PM
Jews in Europe
"After World War II, anti-Semitism seemed to disappear in Europe. It is back, to a very disquieting degree." Seemed, but it didn`t. "As Israel is a Jewish state, European Jews are asked to be « good Europeans », and to disavow Israel." And som official European Jews do it.
(11) Phil, May 29, 2011 8:38 PM
Hit Back
Why are we, as a People, sitting back and allowing this to happen. Surely, we must be writing to Mossad with requests that the perpetrators of such hatred be either arrested and put on trial in Israel for creating an environment for Genocide against the Jews, or, alternatively, they should be "hit" as Bin Laden was by the Americans recently. I use my gift as a satirist to make these people look the fools they are, but would be willing to form a partizan organisation to do Mossads job for them if they are too politically tied to the political correctness of an Israel too influenced by the Left...Whose with me?
(10) Jeannie Day, May 29, 2011 8:35 PM
Complacency
I am a Christian who supports the Jewish people. Neither Jews nor Christians can afford to be complacent in these times. It is true that Muslims seek the destruction of both Jews and Christians. Tolerance! Yeah, right! The only tolerance preached by Muslims is tolerance of Muslims. Wake up! Look at many of the public school textbooks. Christians and Jews are rarely mentioned and then only in a derogatory way.
(9) Jankele, May 29, 2011 7:11 PM
fundamental christs...
And fundamental christs like Bishop Williamson of the FSSPX are openly denying the Shoah. There are still strong powers in the catholic church feeding antisemitism by telling lies about "jewish ritual murder" etc.
(8) Kibbitzer, May 29, 2011 5:52 PM
European anti-Semitism
In truth it never went away, merely becoming "unfashionable" after the Holocaust. Then anti-Zionism ("respectable" anti-Semitism) became "fashionable" and now it's out in the open again. It's in Europe's DNA and therefore ineradicable. New World countries (USA, Canada, Australia) are more enlightened but not immune from the virus. Anti-Zionist Jews fondly imagine they're not in the crosshairs but fools' paradise comes to mind. Todah l'Eyl for Israel!

it is the press which is at fault, and WE all have done a terrific job LETTING it happen
Why do we stick our heads in the ground. The press is purely and surely at big fault for fanning this hatred and painting Israel and the Jews as the epitomy of EVIL. Everything that the Jews and Israel does is negative, nothing positive. If anything positive is done, and there is actually a lot, it is ignored. WE MUST CARE for ourselves, and ourselves only. Moneys must go for Jewish purposes the bulk of it, voluteering for Jewish organisations, let us plant the seeds which we have, in our OWN backyard and be there for one another, THEN we will be strong B''H and only then. If we do not love and help one another, who then should!!!

Anti-Semitism grows in Europe
Anti-Semitism grows in Europe, but we never really killed it after WWII. Many Jews who said "Never Again" failed to maintain the vigil, and they were aided by the Muslims, who were supporters of Hitler and his "final solution." It grows in the United States of America as well. Hate groups increase in the U.S. about 4% a year, and there are currently in excess of 1,008 such hate groups, many to do with anti-Semitism and many well armed and dangerous (SPLC). The attitude toward of the U.S. toward Israel has changed where we are willing to make threats against it, our only ally in the Middle East, even when those it had been negotiationg with for more than 40 years have decided to join forces with a recognized terrorist organization, Hamas, who seeks the destruction of the ?state of Israel, and the Jews who inhabit it. "NEVER AGAIN" is no longer, but it can, and it must, be restored and made to work this time - for all time.

What about us?
Interesting article, have read dozens like it over the years, however. One doesn't hear much about another group that's stuck: christians & "Jewish roots" christians who staunchly support and defend the Jewish people. Jews are wary of them which is sad, while other proclaimed christians and secular Western society are quickly growing to despise them. I'm thinking about the average person, on their own, in their daily life speaking their piece and trying to be, yes, a light to the nations. (No, not trying to steal your job...) So to the Children of Israel: try wearing a Star of David on your tshirt that says "Gush Katif belongs to Israel", or "Judea & Samaria is the Jewish homeland", asking for Israeli produce at the store, defending Israels historical, political, ethical etc right to exist at work (even with your boss) when you're not even Jewish. There are actually people who do these things. Yeah, you've got it bad- and it'll most likely get worse. As it is and will become for me and a few like-minded others. Yet, for all the hassle- to put it mildly - it just means the birthpangs are getting ready to "pop out" the Messiah, which isn't a bad thing unless you've spent your days cursing Jacob... Have a nice week. Eric Stavanger, Norway- considered the most anti-Jewish country on Earth.

Genocide?
Since the creation of the modern Jewish state in 1948, the Palestinian Arabs have been among the world's fastest growing populations. The claim that Israel is committing genocide is at its core racist.

Actually Muslim anti-Semitism is influenced by Mohammed, who said the end of the world would not come until the Muslims kill all the Jews
