If we do not seek the causes for this tragedy, how do we prevent future ones, Chas VeShalom?

This tragedy seems as if it could have been completely prevented as per the above comments. In my humble opinion, I think we need to pursue these causes and not only speak about not treating others with mutual respect, however important that is, yet there are more direct factors that caused this tragedy that must be addressed!

Agree

I also remember a similar incident at one Maccabia when a bridge built for the event collapsed. That too could have been prevented.

a hard question

early yesterday I watched a presentation of Lag b 'Omer and noticed a night photograph taken of this same celebration a few years ago from a very high altitude.. I could only wonder how many people could fit in such a small space but did not give much more thought .. then the news late evening.. a tragedy.. a hard question should have been asked before this event.. Is it safe to have 100,000 people compressed in a tiny space ?

the answer is ..No. But who would have had the courage to ask this common sense question to the organizers of this event ? .. a hard question..

This is a tragedy.. My condolences to those families who lost loved ones.

Sadness

DEAR RABBI. THERE IS NOTING ABOUT SPIRITUAL INTROSPECTION : NO. IS SIMPLE: THE SECURITY EVENT WAS NOT PLANED CAREFULLY. 100.000 PEOPLE IN NARROW ENTRANCE AND OTHER ERROR ON SECURITY!! MAY G'D GIVE PEACE FOR FAMILIES.

Tragedy beyond understanding

Excellent commentary Rabbi Goldfinch. There appears to be a wound on your face below your left eye. Please excuse my concern - is this an injury from Meron? Are there words we can use to understand this horror? Probably not. The loss to eretz Yisrael is unfathomable. I hope an investigation will make recommendations to prevent this from occurring in the future. May Hashem comfort the families among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
