COMMUNITY PUSHES BACK AGAINST EMORY UNIVERSITY ANTI-SEMITISM

Emory students were targeted with Anti-Semitic "eviction notices,” with fabricated information already discredited in 2014 at NYU, and against Emory University's policies. This is what their neighbors in nearby Toco Hills have to say, at least 300 times:

Shame

It's a shame that this kind of thing can happen in the USA, and it's a shame it took over 50 years for that University to apologize to the people it discriminated against, We are reliving this type of occurrences in the 21st century, and it's even more shameful to see that we can't hear one word against it from the Democratic party, silence is condoning this type of behavior, and it's the worst we can have in our country, I winder when will the Jewish population in this country will wake up and slap the Democrats upside their face to wake them up.

They are awake

The Democrats in the U.S. are awake to the 50 deaths in the U.S. from right wing white nationalists. 11 of them, your fellow Jews Praying in Pittsburgh. White nationalism propaganda is up this last year, a tremendous percent.

The killings at the mosque that cost 50 human lives at Prayer recently, also due to nationalism.

Your comrads on the right and President Trump feel it is no big deal. Not a danger.

You support the settlement movement in the modern state of Israel, it's far right policies, and are blinded to everything else.

Thank G-d the Democrats took back the House and when I Daven everyday, my Prayer is for the republicans to be out of the white house, because nothing is more sacred than life. All human life, is created by G-d.

NOT UNIQUE

EMORY WAS NOT UNIQUE. WHEN I GRADUATED FROM U OF MN DENTAL SCHOOL IN 1964, THERE WAS OPEN ANTI SEMITISM THERE. THE MEDICAL SCHOOL HAD A 10% QUOTA. THE DENTAL SCHOOL ONLY 4% QUOTA. HALF OF THE JEWS WHO WERE ACCEPTED DID NOT GRADUATE. THIS WAS TRUE IN THE "50'S AND '60'S. SEVERAL YEARS AGO, THE U OF MN ALUMNAI MAGAZINE HAD AN ARTICLE THAT DISCUSSED THIS IN SOME DETAIL. TODAY, THERE STILL ARE NOT MANY JEWS IN THE DENTAL SCHOOL. BUT, I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY APPLY. CURIOUS ISN'T IT? OUT OF 2500 LICENSED DENTISTS IN MN, THERE ARE PROBABLY NO MORE THAN 25 TODAY. MAYBE THAT IS WHY WE ARE KNOWN AS THE "FROZEN CHOSEN".

Toronto Dental School anti semitism 1942-1946

What happened at Emory, happened at dental school at University of Toronto.A very similar story and many more. When I applied in 1942 there
were 24 applications by Jewish students and only 4 were accepted.I was one of them. When the dean was asked by one of our prominent Jewish dentists why, his reply "Jewish students do well academically but do not have digital dexterity!"

We can no longer afford to "make nice"

We need to speak up and speak out against anti Semitism whenever and wherever we encounter it. My leanings are liberal but make no mistake. I am not giving ANY politician a pass to say anything against Jews. Democrat or Republican, if I hear/read even ONE word of negative speech against the Jews I will be all over it. In fact, I am already speaking out.

Antisemitism must be denounced

Agree, 100 %. Where I think we disagree, is I am fine with the Democrats response to the Omar situation. I think it was apprpropriate. They have not allowed the Repulicans to slip in anti-BDS legislation twice now. I am proud of them for that, free speech must remain an imperative for U.S. Democracy for policies that are simply not okay in terms of human rights, I don't care the country. I do not think Omar is an antisemite. I think she has strong opjnions about the Isrseli governments actions and frankly as Jew, I do as well. It is not the Israel of my growing up.

Netanyahu said today if elected he will annex the settlements in West Bank.

So, the 2 state solution has been a lie.

I am sick as I can be over it, and just done. Israeli politics has nothing to do with Judaism, so yes, speak out against antisemitism. I too am all over it, as you say.
It is increasing at an alarming rate. Very frightening.

But, the government and modern state of Israel, I have nothing to say. I am not an Isrseli citizen and their actions are not in my name, as a Jew or an American.

Emory Antisemitism

When I applied to Emory's medical school in 1974, their admission packet stated that they gave all their exams on Saturday and that if the applicant would not take exams on Saturday, they should not bother to apply. I went to Hahnemann, where exams were initially given on Saturday. At the urging of Lesie Rose, MD, the new head of endocrinology, they made arrangements for the 5 Shomer Shabbat students in my class to take them on Fridays. By the end of my freshman year, all exams were given on Friday.

old news

i was asked by many who were rejected from columbia university medical school not to attend because of their vicious exclusion of jews for decades. as a result i was the first orthodox jewish female medical student there. i showed by example we belonged. but they never apologized. harvard was the school behind cary grants movie gentlemans agreement. when my parents came here after the war one couldnt get a job in the school system or the telephone company. it wasnt just one dean. this was a well known phenomenon faced by holocaust survivors. and today jewish students face fear from antisemitic black lives matter groups on campus and are afraid to attend hillel or to have pro israel rallies. i guess the apology is what makes this unique. but it doesnt give retroactive degrees. i had to pretend to have stomach upset and have water during the old boys club get togethers becuz if i said i was jewish i might not pass. ain chadash tachas hashemesh and it still goes on. i have many ideas about petitions that aish can get involved with to correct antisemitism today so please contact me if you want to review them. mr brickman is correct. dont accept. do not be silent. testify.

Ted Levitas: the driving force in

Ted Levitas, a student at Emory Dental School ,initially "created the case" against Dean Buhler's anti-semitic practices and brought them to the attention of the ADL. "The rest is history!"

FYI: Anti-semitism reared its ugly head at the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in the early 70's and, once again, Dr. Theodore C. Levitas was able to bring down the culprit responsible for his actions before an audience of hundreds of Pediatric Dentists. That particular incident left the culprit - in a white suit - with a very red face and caused the audience to leap to their feet in applause. That was never forgotten by members of all faiths and is a topic of conversation to this day.

Still exists

I was in a Masters program at a catholic university where the program director discriminated against men and Jews in particular. Ironically, the program was marketed as a Multi-cultural one. The same director espoused that white men are the cause of all the problems in the world. In a discussion regarding Jews the phrase'you people' was used by her. Of the three men in the first class, two were Jewish and I was one of the Jewish men. The other two were terminated from the program and when she couldn't find a legitimate reason to expel me, she made up something. When challenged, the school allowed her to violate the rules of appeal but refused to give me the same privilege. Ironically, they love the money they get from reform Jewish donors.

Jews still support the Left

Unfortunately, many Jews in America still support the Left, which is the primary source of today's Anti-Semitism. Universities and Colleges are the Left's training grounds, large-scale brain-washing operations used to indoctrinate the next generation into the leftist agenda.

As a former professor of 20 years, I saw first hand what went on in almost every department. . . . And we have all recently seen the debacle that the news media has been making of supposedly "objective" reporting over the last two years--hanging the POTUS without a shred of evidence against him.

It is really time for American Jews to sit up and recognize where the hatred is coming from, and to stop sleeping with the enemy ( so to speak).

Jews then, Zionists now?

It is not too far-fetched to imagine that the life of students and faculty - known friends of Israel will be made hell by pro-Palestinian groups and their supporters including left-wing Jewish idiots.

I was forced out as well!

I was a nursing student at a City University of New York community college. I had 6 weeks to go for graduation. The faculty, virulently anti-Semitic, had tried several times to get me to leave - to fail me. Finally, I was told "you're not graduating this school - I don't care if you get all A's". I was entitled to take the LPN licensing exam and scored somewhere in the 90's percentile. My friend, a holocaust survivor, said "if Hitler didn't get me, they're not going to get me either" and she fought them and did graduate, going on to a Bachelor's in nursing. This was 1967.

(5) Bobby5000, April 4, 2019 1:45 PM

what is happening now that we can address

Unfortunately, we cannot change the past, and these things tend to be seen more innocuously when they are happening. Today, in Honduras and El Salvador, people are being brutally beaten, gangs dominate amidst poverty and women are horribly mistreated leading many to want to leave. What to do.

We need to be inspired by the injustices of the past to take action now.

Sold Out by Our Leaders

When the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was first drafted, Jews were a protected class because of past history of discrimination against Jews in the US. Unfortunately, our liberal Jewish leaders insisted that Jews be removed from the protected class because they didn't want Jews competing with other minority groups.

Perry is a friend of mine and I applaud his tenacity in making Emory own their failings in humanity.I pray that this " new wave" of Anti- semitism and Anti-Israel is soon confounded and we , as Jews, can be the " light unto the nations" as The Almighty intended.
