Lincoln didn't need to mention the Pilgrims...

...because many Americans already associated the idea of a post-harvest "thanksgiving" with the Pilgrims' giving thanks to G-d for surviving in the New World.

Thank you for your article. I just discovered that fact about the proclamation and was very pleased with President Lincoln. He was correct about Thanking G-d for everything. I would love to see more people bring that into their lives rather than turkey and pie.

Happy Thanksgivvukah! Thankful for AISH!

I heard that last year there was a Pesach Program in Hawaii and want to know if there will be one this April, 2014.. Hoping so, please let me know!
