solutions, even from experience, aren't universal

Just because you've dealt with something similar, or even seemingly the same, as I'm dealing with, doesn't mean you know what I'm going through. Each person brings to a situation different things. Each of us has our own baggage from the past, and our own mindset. So, you think you know --- but you don't, not really. Nevertheless, keep trying to help. Tell people what you went through and how you dealt with it. It may help some people, and others may get an idea from what you say about how to begin their personal search for solutions or at least for a personal path towards coping.

all due respect, but....

Lori, I can tell that you have struggled with the normal things that most people deal with as well. But believe me, some of us, myself included, are dealing with things in a whole other ballpark. Things we could never talk about to others. And the very secrecy is painful beyond words. So I'm sure you may be helpful to some, but people who have really difficult problems will unfortunately not find comfort in your words.

Secrets can be painful - find a trustworthy person to share with

Unshared painful secrets can be toxic to your health, so I suggest that you find a trustworthy professional (perhaps a licensed therapist) with whom you can share your feelings. When I had some terrible things to deal with, I found a support group facilitated by a social worker, that was very helpful. I still keep in touch with one of the women I met there and we're able to share our feelings to this day. It's important to be careful about the person you choose to talk with but don't try to carry your burden alone. Many warm wishes to you for a brighter tomorrow.
