Emulation Is Not Envy

It makes sense to study those who succeeded at a profession in order to learn from them. That's not quite the same as comparing one's life to theirs. Even if one's talent isn't in the same category, there are still techniques to be learned that one can apply.

Yes! There is a significant difference between emulation and envy. In my case, the former emotion always moves me to make a change for the better. However, when I become envious of someone I also become stuck and miserable. Nonetheless, we all feel envious of others at times just as Tom Shillue admitted. it's what we do after that which counts.
