I think she portrayed faux sympathy

It's a good point. Sometimes people take things too lightly, or try to cheer the person up right away when they don't want that at the moment. It's best to listen and acknowedge how they feel. Or just listen and give a hug.

She does not portray actual sympathy

I don't agree with the presentation at all. Empathy can only be expressed when I have gone through similar experiences and I actually know your pain, or at least have a similar pain. Sympathy is sometimes all one has to give, an understanding heart that grieves and cares for someone without knowing their pain. What she portrays as sympathy is not sympathy, it is an arrogant and very unsympathetic person who doesn't care about the person at all.
