Flooded in Silence

I read that, according to some, the great flood began in this month. A Rabbi suggested to me that perhaps that is why the first Torah portion read in this month is ALWAYS that of the Noah and account of that flood. The thought came to me that that it was then, in Cheshvan as the flood began, that a great and wonderful silence fell upon and enveloped the world. The world was created in silent hiddeness (k'vod E-lokim, hasteir DAVAR), and the new world was likewise created in silence and once again the Ruach Elokim was "mirachefes al pinei ha'MAYIM! A second observation: I thought the הס, as in when Yehoshua tried to quiet / silence the people when the spies returned, is were "hush" came from. Although מחשבה contains the word חש and indicates silent thought. A private email reply would be greatly appreciated.
