Wonderful Rabbi - I disagree

The Judeo-Christian mindset of a God who loves us so much that he allows us to be tortured insults Him and insults our intelligence. I admire the good intentions of this Rabbi, but until we get past this idea of a a well meaning tormenting God we will continue to accept the suffering of mankind as its destiny instead of a condition we must do everything in our power to stop.

Thank you

Thank you for the chizuk, inspiration, I appreciate it.
When things are rough, it's better to focus on what you can do,
rather than how miserable ones situation is,
because it doesn't help to be despondent

Stephen passed away.

How can i understand ,that my wonderful son passed away at the early age of 35.
what does it mean?? instead of Why???
dont say that to a mother,
is this the way to comfort a mother???????

Donna Marie, April 21, 2016 1:16 PM

I compassionate you.

There are no words to comfort a mother. This is a time when language fails miserably. May I say one thing that I hope you know is meant with all tenderness and good intentions? I have lost many many of those I love. I believe they came here with a mission - to teach - and to be taught. When that mission is complete they get to go home to a place of perfect peace. I am sorry if that is not enough, if it sounds lame, but your son, your wonderful son, left behind his legacy to a world that very much needed his "wonderful". You and your family are in my prayers. Free will vs G-d plans everything

This is an endless flip flop debate that ends in double talk or a stale mate .
Should I look at a murderer and say that this is G-d's way of rallying the good people together ... Therefore the murderer is doing G-d's will ? Or do we flip to free will and bad choices ?
G-d hardened Pharoahs heart and he attacked Moses and the israelites . As a tool of G-d is Pharoah evil or was he Divinely commissioned to do this job and sacrifies his country ? Was he good?
The ever moving kaleidoscope of G-d's participation in our world leaves nothing for us to cling too . If you must then cling to a lie to dampen your pain . It just seems that a positive attitude is better than wasting time rationalizing a reason for tragedy .

Poor answer to theodicy

Tell this to a Holocaust survivor, a Tsunamy survcivor. They will laugh at your simplisric approach. I wouldn't dare show this to my patients suffering in painbecause of an accident, would you ?
