Conversion

I want to convert to Judaism, its been something I have desired for several years now, and I have my heart set on it! I feel happy and complete in my desire to have this in my life! I am glad for the basketball player, and I wish him much happiness!

great story

So special to see a professional sports person so dedicated to studying Torah.
I wish him great success and hope he can continue to study and grow in his spiritual journey.

Nice going!

We welcome you to the fold Amare. Great on the court, great off the court. May you continue to be an asset to the Jewish People.

Is this appropriate?

I just saw a New York Times article where it says he still wears a Christian amulet around his neck. In addition I don’t care who someone is or how famous they are is it appropriate to publisicize that they are converting before they actually convert? If he’s legitimately converting this should be a private matter and having a video about it feels wrong

Agree

Dear Noah, I agree on one hand that maybe AFTER he has converted to speak about it.
But I am not sure. In bringing people to G_d maybe this article/video will help others. Or help others who are with G_d to help bring others. Maybe this will help a fence sitter.
Respectfully- cliff

You do maybe have a point, but that is not what I took from this video. I thought it was very inspiring and Amare seems like a beautiful person. I feel honored that he wants to join our people and yes, when people are in the limelight, their life is publicized. At least it is something positive that is being publicized and can inspire others. :)
