Ekev (Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25 )

"Flowing with Milk and Honey," 2015, acrylic on canvas, 90 x 120 cm.

God, your Lord is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills. A land of wheat and barley, grapevines and figs and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and date-honey. It is a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land whose rocks are iron, and from whose hills you can mine copper. When you have eaten and are satisfied, give thanks to God, your Lord, for the good land He has given you. " (Deuteronomy 8:7-10)

In the verses above, the word "land" is repeated seven times, emphasizing the bounty of the land and the natural resources with which it is blessed. The green, verdant earth flows with milk and honey, streams and brooks, with hints of sacred fruits and golden grains. The abundant resources are suggested by the expressionist freedom in the paint itself. As the Land of Israel thrives before us, we continue to bless and praise God for the good He gives us at every moment.
