Hocus Pocus

Why do Jews strap black boxes on their arms and on their heads? Isn't that kinda weird?

Tefillin Suggests RESILIENCE to me. Thanks

Dear Rabbi Sinclair,

Thanks for your comments.
But perhaps we can look for some meaning and purpose in Mitzvot.

For example, it seems to me that the windings of Tefillin straps suggest the coils of SPRINGS. Springs might remind us of RESILIENCE. A spring keeps bouncing back, when stretched.

By doing Mitzvots, again and again, we may become more resilient. We may become more willing to keep trying, in the face of failure, disappointment and rejection...THANKS Much
