Beauty In 2019

BEAUTY IN 2019

How is it that beauty
Is in the eyes of the beholder
If beauty is a clearly defined thing?
After all
Who would not define
A sunrise as beautiful
Or a large insect as hideous?
A perfect figure as statuesque
And inflamed or very dry skin
As unattractive?
Which aspect of beauty then
Remains a matter of opinion
In a way that can be argued?

Well we all know people
Who feel pretty regardless of imperfections
Or asymmetrical features
As well as people
Who clearly do not realize their beauty
Despite possessing it
So we know people can be subjective
For better or for worse about themselves

We also know that many who
Carry themselves with confidence
And smile often
Do enhance their beauty
And those who slink around
With a frown
Obscure their inherent beauty

We know that “beholders”
Have subconscious associations
You may remind them of someone they like
Or something they don’t like about themselves
There is a cultural image of beauty
As well as personal taste

We also know that perfectionists
Focus on their flaws
We know that abused women
Or those rarely complimented
Do not see their own beauty

Many of us do not recognize
Beauty in ourselves
Until we have aged
And then we look back
And say
“If only I had appreciated
My appearance then!”

And then we do it again
A decade later
“I looked way better then
Than I do now!”

So there are enough
Undefinable
Shades of grey
In the area of physical beauty
To lean on
When we look in the mirror
And say
With new conviction:
“There is beauty in me
Whether I see it clearly in myself
Or not!
And I am NOT waiting
Another decade
To acknowledge that!”

Thank you for wonderful , awesome and very needed true message!

This message was awesome! Holiness, and the beauty that Holiness creates is greater than outward temporal beauty, & society's standards !. I am a former Beauty Advisor/ Skin Care & Make Up Artist from Macy's, whose job was to consult women and do beauty make overs, which conformed to society's standards of beautiful. (like touched on in this video regarding the Greeks standards) This message was so very true, and reached me like never before. Thank you for this true and well said message. Chag Chanukah to you all!.

God, the ultimate beauty

Oh, how I found agreement with what has been said. I am blessed beyond all measures. No need to adhere to a false worldly system. Through Him, I am everything.

Awesome!

Awesome message!
As a divorced woman, I hope to one day find a man who believes in true beauty and cherishes me for such. I see beauty just this way as you describe. I will never settle for the superficial, nor will I allow myself to be compared to other women. The Almighty made me wonderful and I am beautiful.

Also, I look to find true beauty in a man. If/when I find him, I will definitely honor him as most handsome.

I will share this video with my daughters. Happy Chanukah and all the best to everyone!
