It happened @ Darchei

This story happened at Yeshiva Darchei Torah of Far Rockaway. Shaya was in my friend's class. I don't think the father or Shaya had asked to be in the game- as a classmate it was expected. It's no wonder that in a school that teaches and drills into its students how to give each person the proper respect they deserve such a story can occur.

I just watched with my eight year old son
Thank You to the father who had the courage to ask the boys and to the boys! If Shaya lives in L.A. Would love to have him play BB for Special Macabees.

it is true

Children like Shaya are sent into this world, so that the others are able becaus of him, to bring more light into the world. When I was young I worked for 2 years with mentally ill people. Then I came to love them and I realized that they all had a pure soul. Today I learned much more. God sends these children into the world, so that the others around them can bring more light into the world. To learn this truth now, makes me speechless. (Today, after more than 50 years later.) Thanks for this story!

The first time

I remember the first time I saw this story. It was in Horizons Magazine around 20 years ago and was written by Yechezkel Goldberg הי"ד. If I remember correctly, he first heard it at a Torah Umesorah Convention. It brought me to tears 20 years ago and it brought me to tears now.

some teach

I attended classes about expanding one's inner strength. One of the members asked the facilitator why G-d let children be born with such maladies as Shaya's. His response was...some of us are here to learn, others are here "to teach."

Another Great Story coming out of Yeshiva Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway

I know shaya personally and his father is a well known person in the community. Rabbi Bender in Yeshiva Darchei Torah from before i was a student there (about 20 years ago) was integrating many special needs students into the classrooms, so we the students can gain from them! There where many such stories in my days and i am sure it has continued!

Beautiful Story!!!

A very moving story which I have heard before and which brings me to tears every time I hear it. All of these children who helped Shaya are children with WONDERFUL character traits. Children who are willing to lose a game in order to help another child who is not as fortunate as they are must be commended for their kind, caring and courageous acts.

Beautifully presented video.

I have several friends that have special need children. I am so drawn to these pure neshamalas. I know that Hashem entrusts these children to very special familes. May they all have the strength and wisdom to continue raising their children.

I have to tell you that i work in a special needs preschool and everyday is a blessing to be surounded by such beautiful gems that touch my sould and brighten up my saddest days. this video was so beautifully and simply put for every person at every age to understand and learn from. i actually started crying. if only all jews would show that kind of unity for one another no matter the circumstances then maybe one day and may that one day be very soon, we will see the Meshiach come. thank you!
