Holy Fire, Holy Music: The Piaseczna Niggun

A moving music video about the Piaseczna Rebbe, Rav Kalonymus Kalman Shapira.

This melody was composed in memory of the holy Piaseczna Rebbe (Rav Kalonymus Kalman Shapira). He was named after his great grandfather, the Maor Vashemesh (Rav Kalonymus Kalman Epstein) who was the Rebbe of Krakow (and hence a hint to the Krakow niggun).

The Piaseczna Rebbe inspired thousands of people during the darkest times of the Holocaust. He brought hope and light to everyone around him and inspired so many to serve God with simcha (happiness).

His writings

I have been enjoying what I would call more of a commentary by Nehemia Polen, and I find his sermons wonderful especially for the situation that he and his fellow Hasid were in. He truly was a Holy Fire made evident in a place where little was holy.

So powerful and meaningful. The music alone moves me. Mr. Rebbe was a beautiful person on the inside and out.

Is there a way to download this niggun?

Anonymous, July 10, 2017 1:06 PM

I would like to download this niggun

It is a deeply moving video lifting the spirits . The background story and music are both emotionally and visually moving and brings a heartfelt reminder of our great loss during the Shoa.

Piasecknas Rebbe

I admire the devotion of this people to Hashem, blessed is He. I cannot find anywhere in the Internet, or other places people more devoted. They might be very strict in their commitment, but are truly devoted. What else can I say? I am no one, just a woman who likes to meditate on the life of the people of my ancestry. The Jewish people. May Hashem, blessed is He, brings more unity among us. Maybe those Jews who have been lost because of the pogroms, inquisitions and hatred throughout the world will return to their home, if not in a material way, but in the spirit of Hashem, blessed is He. I have prayed all these years to Hashem, blessed is He, for forgiveness of our sins. Maybe that is the reason why my family are totally ignorant today of their heritage. They are old, and Catholic, ignorant of the beautiful heritage given to us by the Most High in Sinai. I am the only one in my family who knows who we are, my oldest brother passed away two years ago, ignorant of our heritage. I fought with the angel of death because he had been taken without the knowledge. Now I don't know what is going to happen to the rest of my ignorant family, or me, but I trust in the Most High G-d of Israel.

Keep Learning

You are here. On Aish, the website of Judaism 101. It's wonderful to hear your message, how important our heritage is to you... such a wonder to behold! I greatly appreciate your words, they are a reminder for all of us. Those who have had this treasure--embrace it with full grip, or ignore it with full apathy! It's very human to forget or become complacent. Thank you for this reminder. Learn. Learn. Then, learn some more. This site is great to start. Other websites to take a look at: simpletoremeber.com, chabad.org, torahanytime.com.

Go out and see what Torah classes you can learn in your area! Learning with a group is huge for your soul. You will feel a grip to the tree of life when you grip the tree of life with your actions. All is not lost. You are the last link in the chain. But, you can create another link :).
