Nice but not nice

Nice, very Feelgood. He is not chutzpadik? Pulleeze. Where does he get off bragging (!) that he does not speak Yiddish, Ladino, or Tanach Hebrew!? So, Mr Yisraeli, only modern Ben Yehuda Ivrit counts? And if millions of your brothers and sisters from past history to the present have not quite mastered this version of Hebrew, are they disqualified from being citizens? That takes us back to the holy galus yidden from the Levant, North Africa, the worldwide scattered escapees from Inquisition Spain, King David and his ancestors and progeny, and all the kings and prophets and their children and wives, the Sages, all those in the chain listed in the first Mishna in Avos, beginning with...Ahem...MOSHE; our progenitors from Eastern and Western Europe and the Russian Pale, the USA and South America, oh, yes, Canada...wait, did I forget our founding forefathers and mothers? To all of them, all of them, "sadly deprived" of Ben Yehuda's lexiconic advancement, the idea they might not qualify as Israelis, is laughable and ludicrous. Mr. Yisraeli, you are a proud nationalist, but you are woefully out of touch with your heritage. You are welcome to be an Israeli, but so am I, and all the ones I listed and neglected to list who forged the way... for you.

Missed the Point

Dear Devorah,
I believe you're missing his point: he's not chutzpadik; just the opposite! He may not be able to identify with all Jews around the world, but even so he is ALSO (not only) Jewish and proud about it. May we all be able to get past the trappings of culture and appreciate that we are One People, connected by HaShem in a way that's much deeper and profound than the trappings of dress, language, or political preference.

(74) Cayle W., September 2, 2015 2:44 PM

Inspiring Video - just one thing....

Thank you for this wonderful video, Kol Hakavod! However, there was no need to take a shot at Yiddish and Ladino. While I believe that Hebrew should be the official language of the Jewish people, we should not ignore and demean our rich linguistic heritage. They are a part of who we are and we should be proud and preserve them. Apply the same standard to Arabic, which is everywhere in Israel if you want everyone to speak Hebrew.

Mordechai, September 2, 2015 6:49 PM

I whole heartedly agree.

I am not quite sure why that line should be synonymous with being a proud Israeli, unless part of being a proud Israeli is not have tolerance for other Jews, that have been speaking Yiddish and or Ladino, 100s of years before Modern Hebrew came into existence.

(73) Anonymous, September 2, 2015 2:21 PM

beautifully said and Im proud to be an Israeli

(72) Beverly Margolis, September 2, 2015 4:28 AM

What does it mean?

I'll never know, I cannot afford to fly to Israel nor can I swim across the oceans to get there.
But in my heart, I am an Israeli. I defend her by correcting the horrible lies that people tell about our country.
When I was born, free trips to Israel were unknown, now in my 70s I struggle to just keep my head above water, but that is okay as long as I know that Am Yisrael Chai!

(71) arin, September 2, 2015 3:23 AM

frat boy mania

He sounds like a frat boy at a football game. And the fake sounds of cheers promoting him... pretty corny. The hole thing is too hype... Is this geared towards an audiance of male high school children?

(70) bethy, September 2, 2015 3:11 AM

Run for Prime Minister please

This beautiful video Mr. Kaikon needs to shout out how the rich arab oil states withhold money and finical help/assistance from their palestinian brethren deliberately so that they remain poor, angry and agitate against Israel!! They are so loaded with oil wealth and they don't share that wealth with their economically disadvantaged neighboring states; Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan and of course the "poor" palestinians who are filled with anger jealousy and hate and indeed the palestinians HAVE a country it's called Jordan.. oh the lies.. 60% of Jordan is palestinians.. These people HAVE a state!! He needs to get this message OUT every day!!! Further the rich OIL states send and spend their obscene wealth to build Dubai -their Las Vegas in the sand but don't fork over any help/assistance to their poorer arab brothers in their neighboring states Israel never broaches this subject It's disgusting how prominent Israeli's and government or the people don't talk about this!! The obscene wealthy OIL states HOARD their wealth.. beautiful video but now he must go further and say what no Israeli dares to say about the RICH OIL STATES NOT SHARING THE OIL WEALTH THE REAL REASON THE "CRISIS" IN THE M.E.EXISTS PURE GREED AND MONEY HOARDING!!!

(69) Oscar Castanios, September 2, 2015 2:37 AM

fantastic rallying cry

fantastic rallying cry by young Jewish patriot, who has every reason to inspire bringing out the best from each Israeli to stand for their country. after all, Israel has always been and will always remain the centerpiece of world civilization, being the focal point of God's redemptive plan for Jews and Gentiles alike all over the world!

(68) Mary, September 1, 2015 9:09 PM

His pride in being an Israeli is inspiring ; his unwillingness to make excuses for what he is to be commended. If more people were willing to stand and be counted; there would be fewer problems , Israel would be stronger.

(67) Eveleen, September 1, 2015 8:44 PM

I am so proud to be a Jew.

LaShana Tova to all!

(66) Anonymous, September 1, 2015 7:54 PM

I don't understand...

What's wrong with speaking Yiddish or Biblical Hebrew? Why is that an embarrassment?

Sorry, but it seems that this video is saying, "I'm proud to be an Israeli", but not "I'm proud to be a Jew"

Mendel, September 3, 2015 8:06 PM

I disagree.

He is clearly proud to be a Jew. He does not wear a kippa, but talks about Pesach, Yom Kippur and prayer. He declares that he is a Jew before he declares that he is an Israeli.

(65) Lisa, September 1, 2015 5:46 PM

Every Jew

If every Jew could utter these wonderful words......what a world it would be!! It would be a small piece of Tikun Olam!

Shana Tova U'metuka to all !!

(59) Jon, September 1, 2015 3:28 AM

What does it mean to me?

It means although I am as secular as they come, my heart is still in Israel and I know one day I shall return. My heart longs to be back, to be back among my fellow Sabra's, to climb the hills towards Jerusalem and to touch the Western Wall and feel that I am closer to G-d than anywhere else in the world.

(58) Nellie Tom, August 31, 2015 10:48 PM

The Israelis are the most moral human beings on earth. They know the difference between right and wrong and don't blur the lines. G-d bless them and give them peace.

We love and support you Israel! We also pray for your soldiers, the most friendly army in the whole world!!!

(46) Anonymous, August 31, 2015 5:35 AM

response to video

I am proud to be a Jew,but I do not endorse such blatant propaganda. No army is moral or just. The Israeli army and the govt treats the Palestians like second class citizens. I know we need Israel. As those that have been oppressed for so long we must learn and make sure we do not become the oppressors .

Anonymous, August 31, 2015 7:00 AM

The monster of anti-Semitism has many faces this is one

The insinuation of Jew- hatred under cover of thus purposed false narratives of fairness, justice Western oriented values is by now a well practiced phenomenon. In this case the interjections of propaganda twinned with islamic terrorist attacks in which the double standard to obfuscate globalization ambitions is set into play. More plainly said islamic conquest over the non-muslim world.

While the world is confronted with the prospect of annhilation in an ungoing war against Western Civilization its flag the war against the Jewish people as its opening salvo - the cause celeb the cynical canard of islamic victimization is its vehicle. The Jewish land is ours, period. 58 islamic States is enough land, the age old strategy of using immigration aimed at reaching critical mass, attainment of demographic hegemonic control in non-Muslim States as phenomenon is the issue! Destruction of othe peoples historical sites, archeological marvels mainly of the Jews people have existed for thousandss of years is the issue. The swallowing up of non-islamic countries, ISIS colonization of States with ethnic cleansing its center piece is the issue. Not not the Jews, not the nation of Israel against which the foisting of libels, canards and slander to instigate worldwide anti-Semitism as is being done wherever islam reaches critical mass from universities to governments. The infiltration by converts to islam used as ballasts against America is the issue. The creepy war that shows no let up, no promise of abating indeed with a worlds behavior unfortunately not unlike that which enabled the rise of Fascism, Hitlerism and WWII - get the hell out with your very much recognized strategy of false narratives indoctrination efforts on Jewish sites. The same goes for acolytes, the ayrav rav and the poor dumbed down applying Western context to people for whom it is irrelevant.

Alan S., August 31, 2015 12:18 PM

This video is not 'propaganda' in my opinion. What is 'blatant propaganda' is the belief that the Palestinians are treated like second class citizens by the Israeli gov't and army. What is true is that the Palestinian people are treated like second class citizens -- since calling themselves Palestinians -- by the other Arab nations.
Not another fact is truer or more blatant than this one.
Morality has as much to do with 'armies' as does it has to do with nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is a scientific fact; the fact that it is required to make atomic bombs is neither moral or amoral. Armies are a sad fact of life. One nation's army can certainly be more just than another nation's. You would hard pressed to find a more 'just' army than the Israeli or American one.
"Oppressors" need to "oppress". Pray tell, please find me one Israeli that wants to 'oppress' anyone?
This was the 67th anniversary of the birth of the state of Israel. This could have been the 67th anniversary of the birth of the state of 'Palestinian' if the Arab nations wanted peace.

(43) James Mickey McCarthy, August 31, 2015 2:59 AM

I am Irish-American, and Catholic, which are the three reasons why I agree so heartily with this young Israeli.

If Israel falls, America will fall; and if the both of them fall, so will Civilization. The president of the U.S. is a Muslim Communist, determined to destroy both of the countries. We can not permit it to happen, especially since some of my offspring is the same age, as the young Israeli.

(42) Yvonne Desouza, August 31, 2015 2:47 AM

Thanks for the video! Am Yisrael Chai!

(41) Alexandra Fincher, August 31, 2015 1:19 AM

I wish every Muslim in the world can watch this video. Maybe we will have less terrorists.

(38) Dee, August 31, 2015 12:30 AM

Awsome speech. I do not speak Hebrew but read the English words below. I am also in agreement that Israel is the center of this world and is the Holy place of God. I am believer but not Jewish and won't get into debate on this issue. I pray for the people of Israel daily and pray for their nation. Althought some differences are there, we both believe in the G-d of Abraham in our background. I am new in my belief (3 years) but do have strong feelings on what G-d has done for me and to me in my education He gives me. Bless you for the strength of your belief and never let it go. With your ability to speak such, G-d will never leave you and will guide you always as He see's fit for all His people.

B'H a powerful, spiritual and uplifting video. May HaShem continue to bless and protect Artzainu along with His Army Tzahal and Israeli Leaders. May the naysayers of the world fall by the wayside.

B'H May World Leaders hear this and understand what this young man is saying. The naysayers must stop making Jews out to be evil. The communication and publicity must hear what he is sharing and blow it through our Shofars to the World.

(34) Dina, August 30, 2015 9:14 PM

Very well said! Kol Hakavod!

although I live in the U.S.,, I lived in Israel for 10 years and have dual citizenship. My son and family live in Tek Aviv. Lately, with the stuff happening in the U.S., I have thought about returning to live in Israel, but my current husband isn't sure he wants to leave the U.S. and make Aliyah to Israel. Being retirees, we have a whole set of different problems if we did move back to Israel.

In the meantime, I support my sabra son, As well as my grandchildren and look forward to visiting them whenever ?I can.

Am Yisrael Chai!

(33) Ian, August 30, 2015 8:32 PM

This is a great video. It is a take on an earlier commercial that appeared years ago in Canada, called "I am Canadian" by Molson brewery. That commercial made every single Canadian feel patriotic and can still be viewed on You Tube.

I love this new take on an earlier idea, and you know what, it works even better!

But this is just my Jewish Canadian (living in America) opinion

It is truly the time to go back to the roots, claiming Abraham your forefather, the L-RD G-D is ONE you trust. HE is faithful in all HIS Words !!! Amen.

way to go!!!!!! Great clip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(20) Yael, August 30, 2015 5:11 PM

Why would I not believe it?

I certainly believe that this young man, Roi, is saying these things. BECAUSE he lives in a democracy, the free country of Israel, and may say what he wants to. He may proclaim his religion, his patriotism, and his pride aloud... and not suffer for it. I believe what he says about Israel's being a kind, caring nation, because it is true. That is why America must stay aligned with Israel, to protect freedom, justice and kindness in the world.

(13) valerie, August 30, 2015 3:27 PM

Nice video--didn't like the email hype

I try and make it a habit to never open videos hyped with "you won't believe what..." because I have never not believed it. There must be a newer way to appeal to our limited attention spans. Other than that it was nice.

Thank You Dear Friend of Israel!

I want to bless you, dear friend of Israel and of Truth and Justice in this World! Hope you come to visit us here in Israel. I thought you might find it interesting to know that i am a Child of Holocaust Survivors who moved Back Home to Israel where my children were raised. I still can't believe it - living the Dream! Thank you Dear Friend! G-d Bless!

child of holocaust survivor

I am honoured to be able to speak to you. Stay strong for there are many that love you and know that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews and no other.
I hate to see and hear the lies and wickedness spread by the arab world. G-D is going to judge them for what they have done.

This video seems to be based on an old TV commercial for Molson Canadian beer.

Thank You!

This is a wonderful video. I am an American Jew who has been to Israel and I pray that I can eventually go home to Israel. I say home to Israel because that is home. Although I was born in America, I know where my home is! This video brought tears to my eyes. Tears of Pride! My heart and my love are with Israel. I must learn Hebrew, and save my money before I can come. But know this, Israel is God's Promised Land

Making aliyah

I would urge you not to wait. There are ways Israel helps Jewish people to make Aliyah, and they have wonderful Hebrew language schools where you can learn. It is easier to learn when you are there and exposed to it every day. I don't understand why more Jewish people don't go home to Israel. I urge you to check with your local Israel Consulate to find out what help is available to you to make Aliyah.

Then Come Back Home!

If you are serious about coming Home to Eretz Yisrael, you can write to me - perhaps I will have some thoughts about this. I actually have a private business whereby I help Older people make their plans and move to Israel. If you have any pressing questions or concerns feel free to write to me - I will honestly tell you about feasibility. If you can do it, I hope you can as Israel is Home!
