Our words can be as hurtful as our actions.

Find the Words

Our minds are center of Devine Operation. We have to transform any word to mean good. Good is the Word.

Eye opening

I know words have power. This video opened up for me a bigger view of its power especially the risk of its power of destruction

Rabbi Israel Salanter

This great rabbi, Rabbi Israel Salanter, a great scholar, and especially known as the great promoter of Torah ethics, some 200 years ago (he passed away around the mid-1800s), would say, "Not every thought must be expressed; not every statement must be written; and not every note must be printed!

How to teach this philosophy - to others.

Your right - what Rav Salantar said - WAS/IS - a good idea - WHEN APPLIED - BEFORE - one who cares about others - KNOWINGLY SPEAKS - what may be - POTENTIALLY - a harmful word - or words - to someone. In various ways - the same theme/teaching - has been expressed - by other teachings in a variety of venues - but seems to be - universally ignored by many - who may perceive that - what they've said - IS - or SHOULD BE - HARMLESS to anyone.
The problem still - is HOW TO UNIVERSALLY TEACH - this PHILOSOPHY - to everyone - and get them to CARE - about - how they speak to others. And - how to identify - what word - or words - may TRIGGER - The RESULTING - EMOTIONAL TRAUMA - for those who may have to deal with it - in the REAL WORLD OF THEIR LIVES - what's been already said to them.
Unfortunately - far too many people - are not religiously inclined - and unaware - of the Rav - and or - this philosophy.
Which leaves us to deal with - the REALITY OF LIFE - and THE AFTERMATH AS POSITED IN THE VIDEO - of the LONG TERM LIFES EFFECTS - that people have to deal with.
We also need to find the compassion - recognition and understanding - of what has taken place - and help those traumatized - to repair their lives.

There are so many related facets subliminally.

Not only can a word - or words - have an SIGNIFICANT - immediate impact - on one's being - SPIRITUALLY - MENTALLY - EMOTIONALLY - and PHYSICALLY. But - they can be accumulated - over the years subliminally. Though - at the time - we may have dismissed them - like water off a ducks back. It's ESPECIALLY CRITICAL - when one's life - may have been somewhat transient - as a child - where most self imagery - is formed - and these WORDS - reoccur in the new environment. Then - even years later - these words - may begin to have a SUDDEN - SUBLIMINAL - DELETERIOUS - DISASTROUS EFFECT - on our CURRENT lives. Some - may experience WITHOUT WARNING - what is SOMETIMES called: SELF DESTRUCT SYNDROME. For some - it may happen only ONCE in a lifetime. For others - IT CAN OCCUR MORE THAN ONCE - to frequently. Clinically - it's EXTREMELY DIFFICULT - to diagnose - if not impossible. Because - THE ORIGINAL CAUSE - has become lost in the morass of subliminal events/thoughts - that have occurred in one's past. And - they often just don't seem to connect - or relate to - the life one is living currently.
PRAYER TO the ONE G-D - OUR FATHER - with HIS MERCY - and CORRECT THERAPY - can reduce the effects - and - or - make them manageable - and even eliminate them.

Thinking before we speak

Alan S. I agree that was a tough video to watch. Not every thought in our heads needs to be expressed out loud.

Very powerful! Words can build. Words can destroy!

Makes one think.

A tough video to watch but necessary to view.
I do not label people. I'm glad I have not, but I admit there are times I have been very tempted to do so. This will make me think long and hard before the temptation gets me.
