Sometimes I'm right and I can be wrong
My own beliefs are in my song
A butcher, a banker, a drummer and then
We're all family whatever group you're in
I am everyday people, yeah yeah
There is a blue one who can't accept the green one
For living with a fat one trying to be a skinny one
And different folks with different cloaks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee
Oh sha sha - we got to live together
I am no better and neither are you
We are the same, we're all Jews
You love me you hate me you know me and then
You can't figure out the bag I’m in
I am everyday people, yeah yeah
There is a long hair that doesn't like the short hair
For bein' such a rich one that will not help the poor one
And different folks with different cloaks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee
Oh sha sha-we got to live together

"Love your fellow..." Who is your fellow??

I'm confused. Some say "Love your fellow as yourself" refers to fellow Jews. Others say "your fellow" is fellow human beings, including goyim (people of the nations) as well as Jews. I would think a G-d of Love loves everybody and so should we [Jews].

The song seems to imply an "ethnocentric" view when it says: "We are all the same--we are all Jews" Aren't Jews commanded to love everyone??

Moved me to tears

Beautiful video. As Jews, we pause before we do: upon awakening, the first thing we do is thank G-d for having such confidence in our ability to contribute to His world that He has blessed us with another day; before we take a drink of water or eat food, we pause to recite a blessing of thanks. All these pauses I believe, are to train us to be mindful and thoughtful in every one of our waking moments. We become more alive when we move forward in life with awareness of each action in each moment. We become more in-tune with our existence; more connected to G-d; and more connected to people. In every way, it elevates us and through a ripple effect, as seen in this video, it elevates the entire world...which is exactly what G-d wants from us. I believe it is what keeps the world spinning in the right direction. Thanks for a great piece.

It inspires one to want to go out and perform a mitzvot

I had read before that one act of kindness, observed by others engenders more acts of kindness, first in those who observed the first act and then those who observed the subsequent acts. This video is wonderful.

Zsolt, May 28, 2015 3:39 AM

chain reaction

I agree on all counts.
Thus we can imagine that in a globally integrated, interdependent world we live in what massive effects any positive, and unfortunately negative actions can have!
This truly puts great responsibility on our shoulders for all the actions we do, or even the thoughts we have.
And for Jews, due to the disproportionate attention they receive this is multi-fold.

Scott Hankins, May 30, 2015 10:07 PM

A conduit for the connection that reforms

And as integrated members of this whole world we all live in, we must make a scrutiny that what I do or say, does it benefit the whole or does it benefit me?
If the action we make is for the whole, how can we not succeed in becoming united as ONE?!

What a beautiful video! And of course, I know the kindness of Jews doesn't just extend to other Jews but to all people. There are many Muslims and Christians living in Israel as well, where it looks like the video was filmed. All people, no matter their religion or ethnicity, deserve kindness, as that is what love is. :)

Just the message we need right now

Great video! Great song! and Great message!

(31) Michal, February 5, 2012 12:14 PM

dear David B. Vancouver, you sound so sad,

I can understand your feelings. I am even 4 years older than you. I think, we all have seen more wars than peace in our lives. But nevertheless, we are only one and can't change as much as we would like to. But, when there is darkness all over our world, we can always light a "candle". And being kind, gives at least people around you a little happiness and you feel very good also. And you are part of the whole. When in the corner where you live, is more brightness, than somehow you do something for the whole world. Have a good and blessed week! Michal

(30) smb, February 5, 2012 9:44 AM

It might be difficult sometimes to get along. But we should realize that we can disagree and still respect each other. Shalom is the vessel for blessing, and with unity we are strong with the help of G-d

(29) Michal Evenari, February 5, 2012 9:35 AM

made me smile all the time

such a wonderful idea to make this film. Once and again you see this "klindness". In t he video there are some people, and all are kind. And that's the reason, you have to smile all the time while you look. It made me decide:"You can be just as kind. During the whole day." A nice reminder at the beginning of the new week.-

(28) Anonymous, February 5, 2012 8:46 AM

fantstic, we need such actions desperately

if we could overcome ourselves, grow to love, admire, seek and see the good and help one another, then NO ONE, none of our ennemies could touch us, and good will rain down on the Jewish Nation

(27) Tali Margulis, February 5, 2012 7:33 AM

Racheli you are a STAR!!!!!!!! Great job!!! :)

Dani Margolies, February 5, 2012 12:30 PM

Bah!! Humbug!

I have Lived, by the Grace of G-d,for 73years,and I've seen and heard more Tradgedy than the average person,I've heard all the Poets, and their Hopes for Shalom!.....all the Pop songs in Hope and Praise of Peace, all the Mahutma Gahndis,Mother Teresas,et al!!! Untill our Messiah, comes,I personaly, don't think it will happen, We can't even agree on our Judaism, it's all Bubbles in the Air. David B,Vancouver

Chaia, February 5, 2012 12:39 PM

Never too late to try

I am so sorry for all your losses. May you only see peace now. It just takes one small act to get the ball rolling. We don't need to aim for the ultimate, let's start small.

(25) Ya'acov, February 5, 2012 5:30 AM

Great video

what a wonderful remake of an oldie, but timeless song. I look for the day when Moshiach makes this all happen.

(22) John, February 5, 2012 4:29 AM

I love Super Bowl Commercials, better than the game itself. But this one is by far the best!! Nice song, great message.

(21) Avi Levy, February 5, 2012 3:40 AM

Great song, great vid. With so many people watching the BIG game, you should've made this one of the ads. HUGE improvement over the other ad's. Thanks for another great vid. Kudos to Michael HarPaz for writhing this and singing.! Shauva Tov!

(20) Richard, February 5, 2012 3:39 AM

Was there for Chanukah

Started watching the video, which is great representation of Am Yisrael Chai, and realized that I ate dinner at Moshiko the restaurant that appears in the video when I was in Jerusalem this past Chanukah.

(19) Richard, February 5, 2012 3:38 AM

Not so fast, thar, brothah!

Never mind all that cornball about "we gotta live together" as if we don't know it, and dln't do it. That's just a lot of cornball feel=sorry-for-me stuff left over from the hippies. Get this straight: there will always be some few who jus'- don'-giv-a-damn. But for the most part, those folks a few and far between. So quit yer wailing and get out there and do yer part. YEW gotta work, too, buddy! Take a bath ternite and show up clean at work termorra. You'll get t' like it.

(18) Yakova, February 5, 2012 3:29 AM

random acts of kindness big little small concept real

(17) Anonymous, February 5, 2012 3:28 AM

We Gotta Live Together

The Law of Kindness

Now this is an engaging “feel good” video with a viable message. There is a Law of Kindness. The video offers wonderfully simple ways to keep this Torah principle and pass it on. Shalom!

A great replacement for Super Bowl Ad

Too bad people don't have a voice. The ads are usually Super stupid or so vulgar. I vote for Aish Ads any day.

Another brilliant Aish Production

Kol ha'kavod. Each new Aish video is incredible. I never thought you could top the Rosh Hashana video (dancing Yeshiva boys). But each video rivals the one before it!! Building unity through kindness not only shows us the path we should walk but it also shows the wonderful values of Aish and the folks who guide this incredible organization. May you continue to bring light to our people.
