What's temporary?

Never underestimate temporary or provisional arrangements as they usually are put together in urgency under stresses of resources, space, time or hostilities and so reflect a reality that has to work for real or we all go down with the ship as historians and administrators know only too well. The French have the right if sometimes cynical phrase: "Il n'y a que le provisoire qui dure." Only the temporary lasts.
This is why Bible comments on Egypt, Babylon and Persia are still often pertinent as the geography and trade routes have not changed even if we now fly them. For corroboration take the list of English and British kings since Wm I then write their queens alongside WITH where they came from and you will see the trades and political alliances jump off the atlas page. Do the same with French or Spanish Kings and Habsburgs or Russian Tsarist marriages especially the German ones .... Solomon's marriages just rub it in.
